Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 870: 869 Shopping Mall Coincidence

Bai Xiaoxiao’s eyes flashed with astonishment as she blurted out, “You’re not joking?”

My God, she had just jokingly asked him if he wanted to come to the mall, and Meng Ke had said on the phone, “Yes, I’ll grow a pair of wings and fly to find you.”

Unexpectedly, just half an hour later, he actually, really showed up at the mall?

“Xiaoxiao, tell me which floor you are on, I’ll come find you.” Meng Ke’s laughter came through the phone, and it was evident that he was in a good mood.

Bai Xiaoxiao steadied herself, ignoring the person in front of her whose face had darkened and whose breath had turned cold. She turned the cart around, exited the aisle of shelves, and left from the other side. “Wait for me downstairs. I’ll come down after I check out.”

“…”

Luo Haofeng’s thin lips moved, but the name ‘Xiaoxiao’ ultimately remained unspoken.

In his heart, a trace of bitterness spread. He lowered his gaze to the various ingredients in the shopping cart. It seemed that he and Xiaoxiao were truly not destined to be.

“Brother Haofeng.”

Qi Meiling saw Bai Xiaoxiao turn around and leave. She had been in a good mood, but seeing Luo Haofeng’s forlorn figure, her brows furrowed slightly with concern as she called out.

“Do you want to buy anything else?”

Luo Haofeng reigned in his emotions and looked at Qi Meiling with a cool gaze.

Qi Meiling shook her head. “Brother Haofeng, let’s not buy anything else. Let’s go back.”

After three days of effort, Luo Haofeng had finally convinced Qi Meiling to go home. The condition she had set was for him to cook her a meal that evening.

That’s how this scene at the shopping mall came about.

He hadn’t expected to encounter Bai Xiaoxiao here. Qi Meiling took over the cart and pushed it towards the checkout counter, calling out somewhat eagerly, “Brother Haofeng, hurry up.”

At the checkout counter, they indeed saw Bai Xiaoxiao still in line.

After paying, Bai Xiaoxiao left with her bags, took the elevator down, and at a glance saw Meng Ke waiting in the lobby on the first floor. Dressed casually, he seemed to have grown slightly thinner than he had been two days ago.

Ever since the blind date with Bai Xiaoxiao, Meng Ke had been frequenting the gym every day. The days of workouts had already paid off.

“Xiaoxiao.”

Seeing Bai Xiaoxiao approaching, Meng Ke quickly went to meet her, considerately taking the bags from her hands. “I’ll carry them for you.”

Bai Xiaoxiao smiled, not wanting to make a scene in this setting and even less wanting Luo Haofeng and Qi Meiling to see them if they came down. She let go, allowing him to take the bags.

However, this scene was still witnessed by Luo Haofeng, who had taken the elevator down behind them. Qi Meiling’s smile brightened a bit. “Brother Haofeng, that’s Bai Xiaoxiao’s boyfriend.”

Luo Haofeng’s lips tightened, but he remained silent.

Ahead, Meng Ke and Bai Xiaoxiao were talking. Casually glancing back, Meng Ke saw the man standing not far behind them. A flicker of surprise passed through his eyes, and Bai Xiaoxiao’s voice rang out, “Meng Ke, let’s go. Let’s find a place to eat first.”

“Okay!”

Meng Ke’s gaze moved away from Luo Haofeng, and he smiled at Bai Xiaoxiao before turning to walk out of the mall side by side with her. “Xiaoxiao, when are you returning to G City?”

“Tomorrow or the day after.” Bai Xiaoxiao replied calmly. She never looked back but was aware that Luo Haofeng and Qi Meiling were following right behind them.

“Then let’s go back together.” Meng Ke’s smile made his features appear more lively, seemingly more attractive than when he wasn’t smiling.

Bai Xiaoxiao turned to look at him. “Are you here on a business trip in City C, too?”

“Hmm, you could say that.” Meng Ke replied gently. In fact, he had specifically flown to City C to find her.

Bai Xiaoxiao’s eyes flickered, but she didn’t pursue the conversation further. Although she and Meng Ke were trying to date, they hadn’t progressed to the point where he would come to her, and she feared that if she asked one more question, he would say he came for her.

“Miss Bai, aren’t you going to introduce your boyfriend?”

A laughing voice sounded behind her, and upon hearing it, Bai Xiaoxiao’s back stiffened, and her complexion slightly changed.

Meng Ke did not turn around, but instead looked gently at Bai Xiaoxiao and said, “If you don’t want to deal with them, just pretend you didn’t hear anything.”

Bai Xiaoxiao forced a smile, and as Qi Meiling hurried to catch up, she turned her head, her eyes blandly meeting Qi Meiling’s gaze.

“Miss Bai, why are you walking so fast? Aren’t you going to introduce your boyfriend?”

“I’m not close to Miss Qi, so there’s no need for that,” Bai Xiaoxiao said indifferently, without a hint of emotion in her voice.

Luo Haofeng had failed to stop Qi Meiling just now and hurried over as well, grabbing Qi Meiling and reprimanding her in a low voice, “Qi Meiling, don’t go too far.”

After speaking, he looked apologetically at Bai Xiaoxiao and said stiffly, “Don’t mind her, Xiaoxiao. She’s just a kid who doesn’t know any better.”

Bai Xiaoxiao’s eyes swept over his large hand grabbing Qi Meiling’s arm, then she turned to Meng Ke and said, “The hotel I’m staying at is nearby; we can walk back. Is that okay with you?”

“As long as you’re not tired, I have no problem with it.”

Meng Ke completely ignored Luo Haofeng and Qi Meiling, his gaze staying fixed on Bai Xiaoxiao.

After walking a few meters, Meng Ke seemed to say casually, “That Mr. Luo, he still seems to like you a lot.”

Bai Xiaoxiao’s complexion changed slightly, and she stopped, looking at him, “I broke up with Luo Haofeng a long time ago; just now, it was merely a coincidence that we met.”

“Xiaoxiao, I’m not questioning you, I just feel like Luo Haofeng is quite fond of you,” Meng Ke said with a smile, gently explaining.

Bai Xiaoxiao pursed her lips and cast her eyes down, not speaking.

**

In G City, a suburban villa.

Wen Ran insisted on not letting Mo Xiuchen cook alone, so the originally solo household chore turned into a romantic date for the two of them.

Mo Xiuchen took charge of the cooking; she was his sous-chef.

The evening sunlight refracted from the glass windows fell on her, illuminating her fair skin and making it shine like jade.

“Ranran, taste this.”

Mo Xiuchen picked up a piece of fish, blew on it twice near his lips, and then fed it into her mouth. Wen Ran opened her mouth to eat it, her delicate features bursting into a bright smile, her voice light and cheerful, “Mmm, that’s really good.”

“If it’s good, eat more later,” he said, a charming smile spreading across his face upon receiving her approval.

After an hour of collaborative effort, they laid out three dishes and a soup on the table. The air was filled with a thick aroma of food.

After pulling out a chair for Wen Ran to sit, Mo Xiuchen only then pulled out the chair beside her and sat down, saying tenderly, “Ranran, let’s eat.”

Just as Wen Ran was about to speak, she heard a cheerful voice from the living room, “Better an opportune arrival than an early invitation. I’m in luck, arriving just in time for dinner.”

Wen Ran turned back in astonishment, seeing Gu Kai striding in. A smile appeared on her face as she stood up from her chair.

Mo Xiuchen’s eyebrows furrowed slightly, a flicker of annoyance at being disturbed evident in his eyes. Gu Kai had not come alone; at the entrance, another person came in — it was Gu Kai’s cousin, Shen Yuting.

“Ranran, I heard cousin say he was coming to see you, so I came along. You won’t mind me joining you, right?” Shen Yuting looked at Wen Ran with a warm smile.
