Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 687: Where do the 686 cherries come from?

“An hour ago, when Ah Kai phoned Mo Xiuchen, it seemed that he was suffering from a headache and experiencing temporary blindness. Weren’t you with Mo Xiuchen?”

Gu Yan asked, with his tone filled with concern.

Qin Mu’s eyebrows slightly frowning, his voice holding a tinge of apology: “Uncle Gu, I just went out for something with Ah Feng and had no idea about Mo Xiuchen’s headache, let alone his temporary blindness.”

Blindness, this word, made Qin Mu feel shocked and worried.

The sight of Mo Xiuchen during his headaches had always been heart-rending, let alone blindness. He realized his condition could no longer be delayed.

“Uncle Gu, have the experimental results come out yet?”

Qin Mu asked somewhat anxiously.

“The reason why I called is to discuss this matter. The experiment was successful this time. If we follow the procedure, a few rounds of clinical trials should be conducted. However, considering the rapid deterioration of Mo Xiuchen’s condition, I am afraid we can’t wait for the successful clinical trials. I am planning to apply the drug directly to him.”

“Uncle Gu, wouldn’t this carry significant risks?”

Qin Mu was taken aback and asked with concern.

He didn’t quite understand the procedures from drug research to patient application. From Gu Yan’s point of view, to skip the initial clinical trials would definitely carry a high risk.

Gu Yan’s voice came through the static distortion, sounding deep: “Yes, the risk is substantial. But following procedural steps, I’m afraid Mo Xiuchen can’t hold until then. Despite the risks now, we might catch him at the optimal time. I’ll have Ah Kai head to A City tonight and accompany Mo Xiuchen to D Country tomorrow.”

“Tomorrow? Uncle Gu, we just negotiated with Liao Dongxing tonight. He has agreed to turn Fu Jingyi over to us the day after tomorrow.”

Qin Mu’s brows slightly wrinkled, uncertainty permeating his tone.

“Mo Xiuchen’s situation is worsening day by day, and I don’t want to let him wait any longer. Ah Mu, does it have to be Mo Xiuchen regarding the Fu Jingyi matter?” Gu Yan paused, his voice conveying an indiscernible emotion when it came next, “I’ll book a plane ticket later for Fu Jingyi, I will see him myself.”

The grudges were initially between their previous generation. To Mo Xiuchen and Ranran, they were innocent victims. In fact, he has long wanted to meet Fu Jingyi.

“Uncle Gu, you’re planning to come back and see Fu Jingyi?”

“Yes, the person Fu Jingyi hates is me. His actions are nothing but a provocation and resentment towards me. It’s more appropriate for me to meet him. I want him to know that even without him, the ‘virus’ in Mo Xiuchen can be cured.”

He and others like Joseph and Brown had assessed the feasibility and risks, and felt it was possible to skip the clinical trials using human bodies directly and apply it to Mo Xiuchen directly.

A few days ago, they applied the drug to an animal. After a few days of continuous observation, all data were within normal ranges. Although skipping intermediary clinical trials was aggressive, considering the urgent situation, it wasn’t unthinkable.

Qin Mu had just finished his call with Gu Yan when Luo Haofeng walked out of the room ahead, holding a phone in his hand, he walked over and said, “Ah Mu, Ah Kai just called. He’s coming to A City tonight and taking Mo Xiuchen to D Country tomorrow.”

Qin Mu nodded: “I know about it, Uncle Gu called me just now.”

“What about Mo Xiuchen? Is he asleep?”

Luo Haofeng glanced in the direction behind Qin Mu and asked in a low voice.

“Yes, Mo Xiuchen is asleep. Let’s not wake him up; we can talk about it tomorrow when he wakes up.”

**

Mo Xiuchen did not sleep well at night; he was awakened by a headache at 2 a.m.

Every time he suffered pain, it felt like he lost a piece of his memory of Wen Ran. The excruciating sensation didn’t seem like an illness, but a war between the virus and his memory.

In the morning, when Mo Xiuchen came downstairs and saw Gu Kai sitting on the sofa, his handsome face immediately reflected shock.

Gu Kai looked up from the newspaper, seeing Mo Xiuchen’s surprised face, he curled up a smile: “Mo Xiuchen, there’s no need to be so shocked. You make me feel like an alien.”

“In Mo Xiuchen’s eyes, you are more of an alien than an actual one. For you to suddenly appear here, I would think that I’m hallucinating if it were me.”

Luo Haofeng came out of the kitchen, full of charm and a radiant smile on his handsome face. After speaking, he turned and went back into the kitchen.

Qin Mu sat on the sofa opposite Gu Kai, waved at Mo Xiuchen, and explained gently: “Mo Xiuchen, Ah Kai arrived in the middle of the night yesterday. You were asleep, and Ah Feng and I didn’t wake you.”

Mo Xiuchen didn’t say anything. He just looked at Gu Kai, his eyes asking him why he was in the Qin’s living room this early in the morning.

Gu Kai shrugged nonchalantly, picked up the fruit plate on the coffee table. Mo Xiuchen was drawn to his action, and his gaze fell on the bright and delicate cherries in the plate. He briskly walked over, “Ah Kai, where did these cherries come from?”

“Mo Xiuchen, you’re no fun. Pretending not to know won’t make you look stupid.”

Gu Kai glanced at him, pushed the plate of cherries in front of him. Mo Xiuchen’s eyes flickered with an array of emotions that surged and then swiftly faded. In just a moment, it was like experiencing a volcanic eruption, a cataclysmic event, leaving his heart in turmoil.

Gu Kai’s evasive answer affirmed his guess.

These cherries are brought by Ranran!

His emotions could always be compared to raging waves every time he thought about her. Indeed, she was the only one who could cause such an emotional shift in him.

Qin Mu watched the emotional changes in Mo Xiuchen, his heart a mix of sorrow and complexity. He stifled a smile and teased, “Last night, before getting on the plane, Ah Kai went to the countryside. Upon hearing that he was going to A City, Ranran personally climbed the tree to pick these cherries for you. Her only request was that no one else was allowed to eat them, they are only for you. Even Ah Kai was jealous. Mo Xiuchen, Ranran is really kind to you.”

A hint of warmth curled up at the corners of Mo Xiuchen’s mouth, picturing Ranran climbing the tree in the moonlight to pick cherries for him, carefully finding the biggest ones. Just imagining it filled his heart with sweetness and happiness.

“Indeed, the girl, Ranran, has made quite the preference, but she only said that I wasn’t allowed to eat them. What she meant was that I wasn’t allowed to eat them on the road. Now that you’re here, I will eat a few, it shouldn’t matter.”

Having said that, Gu Kai grabbed a handful of cherries and stuffed them into his mouth. His eating manner was at odds with his elegant demeanor, revealing a childish side that made Qin Mu’s mouth twitch.

Mo Xiuchen ignored Gu Kai, nor did he look at Qin Mu. He focused his attention solely on the plate of cherries. Yet, when Gu Kai reached out to grab the cherries for the second time, he swiftly grabbed the plate, his voice cold: “These are the cherries Ranran picked for me. You’ve tasted them, and that’s it. Do you plan to finish them?”
