Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 660: Let’s go grocery shopping together

In the end, they didn’t take wedding photos.

Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran walked hand in hand towards the nearby food market.

Though it was early summer, G City had just experienced a bout of rain. The two walked under the setting sun, feeling comfortable rather than hot. A faint floral scent carried along by the breeze brushed past their ears.

The air was fresh due to the recent rainfall. Wen Ran’s petite hand was engulfed by the man’s wide palm. She followed his stride, proceeding forward. Although they were on an unfamiliar street, her heart felt at ease.

She tilted her head up slightly to look at him, while he turned his head sideways, his gaze was fixed on her.

“Mo Xiuchen, where’s your company?”

Wen Ran looked around, noticing several companies in the vicinity.

“Over there.”

Mo Xiuchen pointed to the right at a skyscraper. Hao Chen’s office was located on the twenty-eighth floor.

As the two chatted and walked towards the food market, a white car suddenly pulled up along the roadside ahead. The driver honked twice, the door opened and a tall, stunning woman wearing a professional outfit stepped out, her figure curvaceous.

“Mo Xiuchen, where are you going? Let me give you a lift.”

Not only was she gorgeous, but her voice also sounded pleasant.

Before he could introduce her, she greeted Wen Ran with a smile, “This must be Mrs. Mo, nice to meet you. I’m An Lin.”

Wen Ran was slightly surprised, the beautiful woman was An Lin.

Mo Xiuchen chuckled softly and introduced Wen Ran: “Ranran, An Lin is Hao Chen’s acknowledged ‘beauty boss’.”

Wen Ran smiled and stretched out her hand to shake An Lin’s. “Miss An is not only beautiful, but also capable. You really deserve the title ‘beauty bossʼ”.

“Haha, Miss Wen, don’t listen to Mo Xiuchen. He’s just teasing me. I’m not really a boss. When I first started, people even called me a flower vase.”

It was obvious that An Lin was a straightforward and candid person. Wen Ran’s voice was softer compared to An Lin’s louder, more crisp tone.

Having said that, An Lin rerouted the conversation to the initial topic, “Where are you two headed? Do you need me to drop you off?”

“No need, Wen Ran and I are just going to buy some groceries at the nearby food market.”

Mo Xiuchen smiled faintly, his conversation with An Lin was unlike his usual chilly manner with women.

After hearing Mo Xiuchen’s words, a hint of disappointment crossed An Lin’s eyes. “Sorry to have disturbed you two.”

Wen Ran shook her head and smiled, An Lin bade her goodbye and thoughtfully hopped back into the car. Before departing, An Lin glanced at Wen Ran through the windshield once more, then sped off into the distance.

“An Lin really is a rare beauty.”

Wen Ran looked at the rapidly disappearing car, musing aloud.

A faint smile tugged at the corners of Mo Xiuchen’s mouth, his voice filling with warm tenderness: “Yes, An Lin and Ah Mu are childhood sweethearts.”

Wen Ran blinked at Mo Xiuchen’s cautiously implied smile, it seemed gossipy: “Mo Xiuchen, there wouldn’t be any stories between An Lin and Qin Mu, would there? An Lin seems to be very outgoing, which might complement Qin Mu’s reserved nature.”

Mo Xiuchen slightly tweaked his mouth, “Ranran, you want to play matchmaker again, don’t you?”

Wen Ran giggled, “I’m considering it. But first, you need to tell me if there’s any hint of romance between them. I can’t matchmake without any basis.”

Mo Xiuchen shook his head with a soft laugh, considering how Qin Mu would react if he knew that Ran Ran wanted to pair him up with An Lin.

“Ranran, matters of the heart can’t be interfered with by outsiders. Whether or not they have a connection is up to their own fate. How about sorting out Haofeng and Xiaoxiao’s misunderstanding first before thinking about other things?”

Speaking of Luo Haofeng and Bai Xiaoxiao, Wen Ran frowned again, “Hmm, Luo Haofeng upset Xiaoxiao.”

“Actually, there was nothing wrong with what Haofeng said.”

Mo Xiuchen looked at Wen Ran thoughtfully. Luo Haofeng’s words to Bai Xiaoxiao, stating that he was unsure if he could love her for the rest of his life, had some truth to it.

Though, women often prefer being wooed with sweet words of eternal love. Even if the person lies, they would still feel happy.

Indeed, how many love stories contain eternally faithful and loving relationships? Especially in this age of fast romance, temptation lurks at every corner. Once the honeymoon phase is over, the commitment meant for eternity requires not just emotional sustenance, but also responsibility.

And yet, some relationships– though filled with love and responsibility– can also come to an end.

Just like him and Ranran, he could assure her of his eternal love, but he couldn’t guarantee that he could stay with her forever.

Wen Ran glanced down at their synchronized footsteps, she said quietly,”I know Luo Haofeng wasn’t wrong. It’s just that, girls like sweet talk. Also, right now Xiaoxiao is in a cold war with her mom because of him, and she’s feeling wronged and insecure…”

Mo Xiuchen’s hand tightened around Wen Ran’s. He didn’t know why, but hearing her diagnosing Bai Xiaoxiao’s mental state with a tender and slightly melancholic voice made him imagine how heartbroken she’d be if he ever had to leave.

The thought made his heart skip a beat.

“Ranran, we’ve arrived. The food market is right there.”

Without a second thought, Mo Xiuchen changed the subject. Wen Ran grinned and looked in the direction he pointed out, asking cheerfully, “Mo Xiuchen, you didn’t eat much for lunch. What would you like for dinner? Don’t be shy.”

Mo Xiuchen raised an eyebrow, “I wasn’t hungry at noon, so I didn’t eat a lot. I’d prefer something light for dinner. You can choose.”

“Sure, no problem.”

Nodding, Wen Ran’s brilliant smile lit up her face as she quickened her pace towards the food market.

She bought only vegetables since Mo Xiuchen proposed having a light dinner. Wen Ran rarely went grocery shopping at markets like this one, but she was astonishingly good at bargaining.

Mo Xiuchen watched her haggle with vendors while trying to suppress his laughter. From one side of the street to the next, Wen Ran was significantly proud of her shopping spree, “Mo Xiuchen, I saved you 4.5 Yuan today.”

“Ranran, how did I not know before that you’re so talented?”

Mo Xiuchen mockingly laughed, while Wen Ran boasted, “There’s still a lot you don’t know. My mother used to say that we shouldn’t belittle these few Yuan, it’s not only about money…”

“Yes, Ranran always speaks the truth.”

Mo Xiuchen didn’t interrupt. He quietly listened her talk, finally summarizing, “Actually, I love watching you haggle with people over a few Yuan for several minutes. It’s not only a way of life, but also a form of fun.”
