Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 668: I’m really scared at 667.

Mo Xiuchen’s razor-sharp gaze was replaced by a somber gleam. Withdrawing his gaze from Qin Mu, he looked up at the sunlight in the sky, immediately squinting against the brightness.

“Ah Mu, you’re right, Ranran assumed I came to D Country to look for Fu Jingyi. She would never guess that I would come here. Qing Feng had called me yesterday, and said that Ranran had gone on a business trip.”

In no time at all, the color returned to Mo Xiuchen’s face; he achieved a sense of calm again. His demeanor was cold yet held a hint of melancholy. There was a faint curve at the corner of his mouth, hinting at no laughter, but rather a sour feeling.

Qin Mu remained silent, his facial expression unchanged.

Mo Xiuchen chuckled lightly and asked Qin Mu again, “Have I lost a lot of weight?”

A hint of puzzlement flashed in Qin Mu’s eyes, but he quickly realized the reason for his question. His brow furrowed as he redirected the conversation, “Xiuchen, I’ll take charge of negotiating with Liao Dongxing. You can relax and focus on your treatment here. I’ll make sure to find Fu Jingyi for you.”

“Let’s sit in the café.”

Mo Xiuchen voiced his suggestion and then headed off immediately.

Qin Mu’s gaze flashed with an unusual glint as he followed him into the café. Mo Xiuchen didn’t head upstairs, instead, he chose a quiet spot by the window to sit.

He wasn’t permitted to drink coffee. Qin Mu ordered a cup for himself and a cup of boiled water for him.

Mo Xiucheng reclined lazily in the couch. His slender fingers lightly tapped the glass as he said in a casual manner, “Ah Mu, I know very well the state of my body. While I’m still capable of going back, I want to see Ranran once more.”

“Wouldn’t it be the same if you went to see her after recovering from your illness?”

Qin Mu disagreed, frowning in protest.

He knew that once Mo Xiuchen made a decision, no one could change it. Just like those years ago, for the sake of revenge, he resolutely joined MS Group. Originally, given their abilities, they could have established a company from the beginning, planning and developing step by step to fulfill his wish.

But Xiuchen did not wish to go down that path. He felt that infiltrating MS Group to expose Xiao Wenqing would cause Mo Jingteng greater pain and regret for his past actions.

As a result, he and Luo Haofeng joined MS Group along with him. For ten years, Mo Xiuchen followed his plan step by step to achieve his desires. But, at the very end, for Wen Ran, he gave up on his final step of the revenge plan.

By allowing the MS Group to go into the hands of Mo Zixuan, he let Mo Jingteng off the hook.

And now, for the sake of saving Wen Ran, regardless of his own life, he still wants to go see her in this condition.

There was a hint of melancholy in Mo Xiuchen’s eyes. In his deep and wise pupils, there was a light hint of longing. He said softly, “Ah Mu, would you believe me if I told you that I’m more frightened and anxious now than I’ve ever been in all these years?”

Qin Mu blinked in surprise and silently strict purse his lips, not responding.

He didn’t wait for him to respond; he smiled slightly, and his voice carried on, “Even when I was kidnapped that year, when I thought that my life was over, I wasn’t as afraid as I am now. At that time, I just thought that I had nothing to lose, being an orphan with no one to care for or love, it was better to just die. However, later on, Ranran saved me. My hope and will to live were rekindled.”

“Although life was tough after that, I wasn’t particularly frightened. With you, Ah Feng, and Ah Kai by my side, I was single-minded in my desire to avenge my mother and find the little girl who saved me that night.”

Qin Mu looked at Mo Xiuchen with soft, overall shimmering emotions. How could he not be aware of everything that he’s been through? He not only knew, but he also respected him for being so incredibly strong.

Mo Xiuchen lifted his cup, taking a sip of the warm boiled water, he didn’t place it back on the table but held onto it.

There was a hint of unease and bitterness in his slight smile, his expression was completely uncharacteristic of his usual cold, calm and elegant demeanor.

“But lately, I’ve really been scared. Ever since Ranran brought up the idea of divorcing me, I’ve been unsettled and terrified that she might really leave me.”

Qin Mu’s eyes were inky black. He recalled the scene of Mo Xiuchen frantically searching for Wen Ran. He remembered the despair and sorrow on his face when he returned from the guesthouse.

It was the first time in all these years they had seen him cry.

“Xiuchen, Wen Ran will not leave you.”

His voice was warm and confident. He believed the depth of his love for Wen Ran was reciprocated in the same measure. They had become an integral part of each other’s lives—without one, the other couldn’t exist.

They simply could not part ways.

Upon hearing Qin Mu’s reassurances, a soft ray of warmth finally surfaced in Mo Xiuchen’s eyes, “Yes, Ranran will not leave me. When I tested her by stooping low, she flung herself onto me, crying hysterically. At that moment, I knew that she would never leave me again.”

Qin Mu also smiled slightly, “Xiuchen, Wen Ran will wait for you at home. We’ve finally gathered all the evidence, which is enough to press Liao Dongxing to hand over Fu Jingyi. Your illness will soon be cured.”

“Perhaps, but, Ah Mu, my memory is rapidly deteriorating. Not just my memories about Ranran, but all my memories are fading. I’m scared that with these fading memories, all my feelings of love and resentment will also gradually dissipate…”

A look of astonishment flashed across Qin Mu’s eyes. He stared at Mo Xiuchen in shock, asking, “Xiuchen, are you saying that you might forget Wen Ran?”

He asked, but he was unwilling to believe it.

Qin Mu preferred to believe that Mo Xiuchen and Wen Ran’s fate was destined. He believed that regardless of whether Mo Xiuchen had forgotten himself, he would never forget her because he loved her so dearly.

Mo Xiuchen nodded, “Not only forgetting Ranran, you, Ah Feng, Ah Kai, including myself, I might forget everything. If that is the case, I’d rather just die.”

“Xiuchen, what are you talking about?”

Qin Mu’s complexion changed dramatically.

“You were able to recognize Wen Ran at first glance as the person you had been looking for. Even if you were to truly forget her, you would fall in love with her again just the same. Moreover, the memory loss is just speculation. It’s not guaranteed that you’ll forget.”

He believed that, above all else, Wen Ran would rather be forgotten by Mo Xiuchen than to have him leave forever.

They felt the same.

Seeing Qin Mu’s angry and shocked expression, Mo Xiuchen laughed, “Ah Mu, don’t get so worked up.”

“I am not getting worked up, but solemnly warning you, Xiuchen, even if you forget everyone else, we won’t blame you. As long as you are alive, everything else doesn’t matter. I firmly believe Wen Ran would think the same.”

Qin Mu’s expression was exceedingly solemn. His handsome facial features exuded a chilling aura. The stern look in his eyes, as if he wouldn’t even let Xiuchen rest in peace and would drag him back from the underworld if he were to not live his life to the fullest.

A soft warmth flickered in Mo Xiuchen’s heart. He finished the water in his cup, placed it back on the table and said calmly, “Don’t worry, I won’t die that easily. Make the flight arrangements. We’ll head back this afternoon.”
