Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 651: 650 isn’t crying, is he?

Wen Ran lies alone on the spacious bed, looking at the vacant spot next to her. There is no familiar embrace or warmth, no tender and enchanting smile, and no deep, magnetic voice.

The once cozy master bedroom suddenly feels empty and cold. She recalls that not long ago, when she moved back to the Wen family house, Mo Xiuchen lived here alone. She wonders if he felt as lonely and upset as she does now.

Being accustomed to a life of two, being pampered, cherished, and loved by someone, and being used to seeing that person every moment of the day and night, suddenly being left alone, she felt a chill creeping into her body from all directions, penetrating every pore, and focusing on her heart. The chill made her shiver.

While lost in thought, her cellphone cuts through the silence with a sudden ring.

Seeing the incoming call, Wen Ran smiles and presses the answer button: “Hello, Xiaoxiao.”

“Ranran, Mo Xiuchen has gone to City C, aren’t you lonely without anyone to keep you company?” Bai Xiaoxiao’s voice carries an ironic tone along with a thick teasing intent.

Wen Ran chuckles in response: “Yes, I am alone through the long night without anyone by my side. Miss Bai Xiaoxiao, would you like to keep me company?”

“I just called, and it kept saying the line is busy, were you and Mo Xiuchen having a long phone conversation?”

Bai Xiaoxiao asks instead of answering.

Wen Ran slides down a bit, leaning against the headboard in a semi-reclining position. She places her mobile phone by her side on the quilt: “I was on the phone with my dad. By the way, did Luo Haofeng take you home or to a hotel last night?”

“Wen Ran, can your thoughts be a little more innocent? Do you think I’m like you?”

Bai Xiaoxiao protests from the other end of the line, and Wen Ran laughs: “Exactly because you’re not like me, I’m asking, did you two go to a hotel for some quality time together? Xiaoxiao, honestly, if you and Luo Haofeng went all the way, perhaps Aunt Qiao would not insist on you two breaking up.”

Bai Xiaoxiao snorts disdainfully, “Ranran, do you think my mom is an easy woman to handle?”

Actually, she herself doesn’t understand why her mom is so stubborn this time, insisting on objecting to her relationship with Luo Haofeng.

“Ranran, my mom has spoken to Luo Haofeng.”

Bai Xiaoxiao is silent for a few seconds over the phone, her voice heavy.

Wen Ran is slightly surprised, “You know?”

“Yeah, last night, he took me home, and we started arguing about something. Actually, it was my fault for not controlling my temper well. Then, he told me that my mom had spoken to him and asked him to stop bothering me.”

Wen Ran could hear the sadness and conflict in Bai Xiaoxiao’s voice.

She had been chasing after Xiao Yuting for over ten years, making her mother worry, but she was obstinate.

Only after being deeply hurt by Xiao Yuting did she finally get over him. Now, she likes Luo Haofeng, but her mother is more opposed to this relationship than before, even more adamant.

“Xiaoxiao, didn’t you ask Uncle Bai to persuade Aunt Qiao? What did Uncle Bai say, does he also disapprove of you and Luo Haofeng dating?”

Wen Ran softly inquires.

Bai Xiaoxiao gives a bitter laugh, “It’s useless, my dad always listens to my mom. Even though he also thinks Luo Haofeng is not bad, Luo Haofeng had a few relationships before. He said, Luo Haofeng’s relationships won’t last long.”

Wen Ran raises her hand to rub her forehead, suddenly feeling a headache: “Ranran, Aunt Qiao, and Uncle Bai are just looking out for you. But when it comes to relationships, different people have different experiences. Whether Luo Haofeng is the kind of person who can stick to a relationship until the end, not to mention you and I, even he himself may not be able to guarantee.”

“Ranran, that’s exactly what Luo Haofeng said last night. I know he was telling the truth, but it made me uncomfortable.”

Bai Xiaoxiao recounts her conversation with Luo Haofeng the previous night. Instead of promising her a lifelong love when she confronted him about her father’s opinion, he said: “Xiaoxiao, I’ve had several relationships in the past, and every time I was serious about it. There were many reasons why we broke up in the end, but right now, I like you. I really can’t guarantee that I’ll always like you. I just know that right now, at this moment, I like you very much and want to be with you…”

“If one day, I no longer have feelings for you, or if perhaps you no longer like me, I would tell you or accept it.”

After hearing Bai Xiaoxiao’s words, Wen Ran feels a twinge of emotion.

Luo Haofeng is indeed a seasoned player in the field of romance. He would never easily promise a woman a lifetime, which is very sincere.

“Ranran, do you know, I am really envious of you and Mo Xiuchen. I wish Luo Haofeng would treat me the same way Mo Xiuchen treats you. Even if he can’t fulfill his promise, at least let me be happy and moved for the moment.”

Wen Ran gently purses her lips.

There seems to be a shimmer of moisture gathering in her eyes, making them sparkle brilliantly. After remaining silent for a moment, she whispers: “I wish Xiuchen wasn’t so good, I wish he loved me a little less.”

“Ranran, what nonsense are you talking about? Who wishes their husband to love them less, and not to be so outstanding? You really don’t know how lucky you are.”

Bai Xiaoxiao rebukes her on the other end of the line, apparently taking Mo Xiuchen’s side.

Wen Ran doesn’t argue, just smiles lightly.

Through the phone, Bai Xiaoxiao can’t see her expression, she can only hear her laughter, oblivious to the bitter bitterness and sadness embedded in Wen Ran’s smile.

Wishing for him to love her a little less, is only because she loves him too much.

If Mo Xiuchen could love her a little less, be a little less perfect and selfish, then they wouldn’t be separated now. Perhaps, when she initially decided to leave, he wouldn’t have tried to stop her.

Without her, he could start a new relationship and live a happy life.

“Ranran, Mo Xiuchen is the most passionate and devoted man I’ve ever seen, stop overthinking things. If you can’t bear to live apart from him, just follow him to City C.”

Bai Xiaoxiao is the nth person to say this, Wen Ran can’t even remember.

Tears appear in her eyes as she smiles, her heart swells with an indescribable emotion, and she teasingly says: “With him off to City C, I’m finally free. Why would I foolishly follow him? Xiaoxiao, if you like Luo Haofeng, just enjoy loving him. Regardless of whether you can be together for a lifetime, just enjoy the process of being in love.”

“Ranran, you’re not crying, are you?”

Bai Xiaoxiao doesn’t respond, but asks instead. She seems to hear something unusual in Wen Ran’s tone, even though they’re talking over the phone.

Wen Ran chuckles, her laughter ringing out clearly: “Not at all, you must’ve heard wrong!”
