Flash Marriage: He is a Wife-pampering Addict

Chapter 680: Don’t let her wait too long

Looking at the varied expressions of Qin Mu and Luo Haofeng, Mo Xiuchen’s smile deepened. His handsome face was filled with amusement as he casually asked, “Ah Mu, didn’t I chase after her through the streets that day to find Ranran? Why are you still looking so shocked?”

Qin Mu, his eyes half-closed and his eyebrows knit tightly, replayed the events of that day in his mind. Still, he couldn’t understand. “That day, you didn’t see Wen Ran at all. It’s impossible that you knew Wen Ran went to see you just based on intuition. Did Wen Ran tell you?”

Mo Xiuchen shook his head, his smile faint. “Ranran didn’t tell me. We not only share a strong connection, but we’re also quite in tune with each other. If I don’t say something, she won’t ask. If she doesn’t say something, I won’t ask either.”

Not asking doesn’t mean not probing!

“So, you knew just by intuition?”

Qin Mu looked incredulous.

Mo Xiuchen lowered his gaze, replying lightly, “Of course not just by intuition. That day, I chased her across the street but didn’t see Ranran. Yet I still felt she was nearby. Later, when I said I wanted to go back to my home country, you strongly objected. But while I went to find Joseph and his crew, you called Ranran.”

“On the way to the airport, a message came into your phone, but you didn’t check. That message must have been from Ranran, telling you she had already bought her ticket. Moreover, your suggestion that we change planes twice mid-journey must have been Ranran’s idea too, worried that I couldn’t handle the continuous flight.”

With every calm word from Mo Xiuchen, Qin Mu’s expression changed. Deep within, he was stunned by this man’s meticulousness and cunning.

“At the airport, while you were getting our tickets, I called Ranran. Her phone was off, so I calculated the time. When she was supposed to arrive in G City, I called her again, and sure enough, her phone was switched on. In fact, before we boarded the plane in D country, I had asked Qing Feng and Qing Yang to pick up Ranran from the airport when she landed.”

He had them wait at the airport on standby. If someone else picked Wen Ran, they weren’t to show up.

Sure enough, Wen Ran was picked up by Gu Kai, thus Mo Xiuchen knew that Wen Ran had gone to D country with Qin Mu. That day when Qin Mu asked him to go out and enjoy the sunshine, it was to let Wen Ran see him.

“Xiuchen, since you knew all about it, why did you still?”

Qin Mu’s voice carried a thick layer of confusion, and his handsome brows tightly furrowed.

Luo Haofeng was also shocked. They had originally kept Wen Ran in the dark, only for her to suspect Mo Xiuchen’s illness. Later, Qin Mu took Wen Ran to D country behind Mo Xiuchen’s back, yet his plan was exposed.

Just what sort of people were these two!

The smile at Mo Xiuchen’s mouth faded, and a faint emotion spread across his brow, “Are you suggesting that since Ranran knows about my condition, I should let her accompany me?”

“Isn’t that the case?”

Luo Haofeng cut in.

Mo Xiuchen gave a bitter laugh, “Ranran didn’t ask me, so I pretended not to know. Ah Feng, you never saw how miserable I was, but Ah Mu did. I don’t want Ranran to see me like that, even less so to see her upset because of my illness.”

His almost riddle-like words dimmed the eyes of both Luo Haofeng and Qin Mu.

Recalling Mo Xiuchen’s painful expressions during his headaches, Qin Mu’s heart grew tight. If Wen Ran were to see that, who knows how heartbroken she’d be. He remembered the day at the restaurant opposite the hospital, seeing Wen Ran’s sorrowful expression, her eyes brimming with unshed tears. He lightly closed his eyes and when he reopened them, they were cold. “Xiuchen, since you don’t want her to accompany you, then don’t keep her waiting too long.”

“I won’t let her wait for too long.”

Mo Xiuchen cast his gaze out of the window. He could keep Wen Ran away from him physically, but in his mind, constant reminders of her presence kept her close to his heart. She was at home, waiting for him!

That afternoon, Wen Ran, Bai Xiaoxiao, and Shen Yuting had gone to Mo Xiuchen’s country villa’s cherry orchard.

Originally, it was just the two of them, but when they were about to leave, Shen Yuting called. Hearing that Wen Ran was going to the countryside to eat cherries, she wanted to come along as well.

With Qing Feng and Qing Yang driving, the three women sat in the backseat, chatting and laughing about light-hearted topics. On arrival, even from afar, they could see full cherry trees. Under the sunlight, they were vividly red and irresistibly eye-catching.

“Ranran, we’re in for a treat! With so many cherries, we could probably eat for a week without running out,” Xiaoxiao was seeing the place for the first time. At the sight of over a dozen cherry trees laden with cherries, she was as ecstatic as a child.

Shen Yuting’s face bloomed into a smile, joyfully stating, “Ranran, last year when I left the country, I didn’t get to eat these cherries. Now that I see these cherry trees again after two years, they’ve grown a lot. The amount of cherries on them has also increased significantly, eating for a week wouldn’t be a problem.”

Looking at the villa surrounded by cherry trees, Wen Ran couldn’t help but smile, a warm emotion rising in her eyes, “Then let’s stay for a week before going back.”

This place was where Xiuchen had lived as a child and contained his most cherished childhood memories. These cherry trees were also planted by Xiuchen. Eating the cherries he had planted here, thinking of him, seemed to be a very warm and romantic thing.

After getting out of the car, Qing Feng and Qing Yang carried the bags into the villa while Wen Ran, Bai Xiaoxiao, and Shen Yuting began picking cherries. Each of them claimed a tree and sat on a branch while engaging in delightful chatter. They were truly relieving their hearts of any grief.

In the evening, the three of them huddled together on a large bed. There was even a plate of cherries on the bedside table, filling the room with their sweet aroma.

Shen Yuting’s phone rang, but after glancing at the screen, she hung up.

Turning around, Wen Ran asked with concern, “Sister Ting, did you really break up with Jiang Liu?”

Shen Yuting tossed her phone aside, and propped her hands on her head as she stared at the ceiling, responding casually, “Yes, we broke up.”

The previously lying Bai Xiaoxiao spun around on the bed to look directly at Shen Yuting, “Did you come here to heal your broken heart?”

“Heartache? You could say that.”

Shen Yuting gave a bitter smile. She and Jiang Liu had been involved for several months; it was impossible to say there were no feelings. However, her feelings for him could never match the depth of her love for Mo Xiuchen.

Two different feelings shouldn’t be compared.

Wen Ran frowned. Seeing Shen Yuting’s self-mocking sadness, she couldn’t help but advise, “Sister Ting, why don’t you give Jiang Liu another chance? He’s been looking for you these days. If it’s really impossible for you two to be together, you should at least tell him clearly, so he won’t keep pestering you.”
