Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 1386: Chapter 1388 Targeted by a Homosexual Man_1

The scene became extremely chaotic in a moment. By the time the Holy Guard snapped back to their senses and tried to rescue them, the ropes binding the two people had already burned through, turning them into two fireballs. They staggered to their feet, flailing their arms as they desperately sought help, but soon both of them collapsed again, the flames on their bodies gradually diminishing until they extinguished on their own, leaving only two charred bodies on the ground.

Someone suddenly shouted, ”Oh God, it’s divine punishment again, it’s Lady Diao Mo who has brought down the wrath of the gods!”

From a distance, Bai Ruozhu saw Honglian’s face turn deathly pale. Her mouth gaped open as if she wanted to shout something, but in the end, she closed her mouth and returned to her compassionate demeanor.

She seemed to sympathize with Lady Diao Mo’s plight but didn’t get overly agitated by Lady Diao Mo’s death.

Standing among the crowd, Bai Ruozhu turned to the person next to her and said, ”My God, Lady Diao Mo was burned to death just like that. She was the one who always took care of the Holy Maiden. The Holy Maiden must be heartbroken.”

She had previously taken medicine to change her voice, and now it sounded like the changing voice of a teenage boy; she had also crafted a small adam’s apple on her throat.

”I don’t see the Holy Maiden looking too heartbroken, though. It’s understandable, after Lady Diao Mo did such a shameful act, who would grieve for her?” said a man next to her.

Bai Ruozhu turned to look and saw a young gentleman with a distinctively long face, dressed in luxurious clothes, probably a nobleman.

At this moment, Furball quietly returned. It had used the ”Illusory Realm” and would now fall asleep for three days.

The three great elders in front of the temple were still in shock. It was the second great elder who recovered first, clearing his throat and addressing the populace below, ”The behavior of Lady Diao Mo was indecent, and the deities have already meted out punishment, thereby cautioning everyone against committing acts of injustice, or the gods will eventually impose their judgment.”

The onlookers started to exclaim, ”Yes, the last time there was heavy rain, the gods also dispensed divine punishment here. Today it’s the same place; it seems the gods are truly angered.”

Somebody questioned, ”Has the Holy Hall decided how to deal with the great elder yet? The gods have pronounced him guilty, why hasn’t he been judged yet?”

The eighth great elder, sweating profusely, stepped forward and said, ”Everyone, calm down. Things are not as simple as you think. Why were Lady Diao Mo and the Team Leader of the Holy Guard bound together? Why couldn’t they say a word in their defense? I suspect they have been framed!”

He walked forward two steps and continued, ”If their bodies had been doused in kerosene, a mere spark would have set them ablaze. This is likely a premeditated conspiracy by someone.”

The sixth great elder scoffed upon hearing this, ”The evidence is irrefutable. Why is the eighth great elder defending that indecent woman Diao Mo? Everyone just saw that the disgraceful couple was bare, only covered in dust; where is there any sign of kerosene? Besides, kerosene has a strong smell, could so many people not smell it? Also, even if it were kerosene, it wouldn’t burn living people so completely so quickly, would it? This is clearly a punishment from the deities!”

The eighth great elder was about to speak again when the second great elder already picked up the paper written by Jin Wanliang, stating, ”Here is a letter handwritten by Lady Diao Mo’s husband, Jin Wanliang, and it bears his seal; there can be no mistake.”

”Bring Jin Wanliang here for questioning. Isn’t he afflicted with a ghastly disease? How could he still write an accusation?” the eighth great elder said, motioning to his trusted Holy Guard to go out of the city in search of someone.

The second great elder pointed out several yellow and red spots on the paper, commenting, ”This should be the pus and blood of Jin Wanliang; it reeks of foul odor, indeed similar to his condition.”

The crowd of onlookers had almost understood everything, and Diao Mo’s reputation had already reached a deplorable level. So, facing the two charred bodies on the ground, no one voiced sympathy; in fact, they continued to cheer, saying such evil people deserved punishment.

Honglian’s face became more and more strained, and finally, she said to the second elder, ”I can’t say much about this matter, so I’ll take my leave now.”

The young gentleman beside Bai Ruozhu, seeing her leave, exclaimed, ”Indeed, the Sacred Girl is unfeeling and ruthless.”

”Everyone is saying she’s the product of an affair between the great elder and Madam Diao Mo, and how she can remain so calm about her mother’s death is truly extraordinary,” Bai Ruozhu said. ”Even if she isn’t Madam Diao Mo’s own flesh and blood, after being cared for so many years, she should have some feelings, that’s being heartless.”

A matron on the other side of Bai Ruozhu spoke up, ”Are you silly? If she gets sad now, how can she still be the Sacred Girl?”

The second elder ordered people to carry away the two charred bodies and have them thrown outside the city into the Chaotic Burial Ground. Such people, spurned by the gods, didn’t deserve a coffin or proper burial.

Watching the second elder and his group return to the Holy Hall, Bai Ruozhu also felt bored and decided to leave, but a hand suddenly grasped her shoulder.

”Young brother, meeting is fate. How about I treat you to a meal?” The noble young master beside her said, also winking and squeezing the hand on her shoulder lightly.

Frightened, Bai Ruozhu shuddered, ”My mother is waiting for me to eat at home, I must go now.”

My goodness, is there a flaw in her disguise? Why was she caught the eye of this shoe-horn faced man, and most importantly, with his peculiar face making googly eyes at her, it almost made her vomit out her meal from last night.

But upon further thought, she felt there were no giveaways; her appearance and voice were still those of a young man.

However, the young master kept his hand on her shoulder, refusing to let go, ”Don’t go. I am sincerely inviting you to dine, at the Taotie Building, the most expensive in Gaochang City!”

Thinking of her current disguise as a commoner boy, Bai Ruozhu eagerly showed her longing and said, ”I’ve never been to such a fine restaurant, so I thank the young master in advance. But my mother is very fierce, let the young master go ahead and order the dishes. I will go home to notify her and will immediately come to the Taotie Building to meet you.”

”Good, good, then hurry up, otherwise the dishes will get cold and won’t taste as good.” Only then did the young master release Bai Ruozhu’s shoulder.

”Certainly, certainly, I’m on my way now,” Bai Ruozhu sighed with relief, finally shaking off the pest.

She wove through the crowd and didn’t relax until she saw the man heading toward the restaurant.

At that moment, she suddenly saw the matron who had been standing next to her waving and squeezing through the onlookers to follow.

”Young brother, you mustn’t go. You’re young and might not know, but that Ao Gongzi is famously disreputable in the Capital,” she said, lowering her voice. ”I heard he likes young lads, it’s quite disgusting.”

Bai Ruozhu almost panicked upon hearing this. What kind of luck was this? Disguising herself as a young man for an outing, and she runs into a homosexual pervert. Had she known, she would have disguised herself as a middle-aged woman.

”Ah, thank you for the warning, I’ll hide now in case he comes back looking for me,” Bai Ruozhu replied and then ran off quickly, not stopping until she was near the royal palace.
