Chapter 1355: Chapter 1357 Misunderstandings upon Misunderstandings_1

”What’s that awful smell?” a somewhat haughty voice called out. Bai Ruozhu looked up and realized Princess Yingtong had come.

Without waiting for her reply, Princess Yingtong pointed to the severed hand on her table and screamed, ”What is this? Is that a human hand? You—you actually use a human hand for testing drugs. I never thought you would resort to evil techniques. What kind of place do you think the royal palace is, daring to do such things here? Guards, take her to see my father, the king!”

Bai Ruozhu’s mouth twitched. She had known that misunderstandings could arise and thought about hiding in her space, but she feared that thing could contaminate her precious Space Treasure Land.

”Princess, you misunderstand. This severed hand belongs to Jin Jing. I’m researching which medicines can affect it, so as to deal with her kind of meat corpse,” Bai Ruozhu explained.

”What nonsense are you spouting? Do you take me for a child that’s easily fooled? What meat corpse are you talking about? Save your breath, hurry up and capture her,” Princess Yingtong shouted.

The nearby guards, arranged by the sovereign to protect Bai Ruozhu and the others, though unclear about what Bai Ruozhu was doing, didn’t feel right just arresting someone.

”Princess, Lady Bai and the others are esteemed guests of the sovereign. He has commanded that no one should disturb them,” a guard reminded her softly.

Princess Yingtong’s eyes widened. How come her words had no effect now? Was it just because her mother had been put under house arrest by her father?

Feeling upset, she shot Bai Ruozhu a fierce glare and turned to leave, saying, ”Fine, I will go speak with my father myself.”

Bai Ruozhu helplessly shrugged her shoulders. She had explained herself, but if Princess Yingtong refused to listen, there was nothing she could do. Also, Princess Yingtong had previously shown no particular dislike towards her but now clearly harbored resentment because of the queen’s situation.

Chu Hai walked out from the house, coughed twice, and said, ”Are you alright? These princesses are the most difficult to serve.”

”Your sister is a princess too, you know?” Bai Ruozhu said with a chuckle.

Chu Hai touched his nose. Yes, Diao Yao was a princess. That’s why his mother named her that—the princesses of the Danliang royal family of this generation had names beginning with the character ’Diao,’ just like Tang Yin’s sister was named Diao Bin.

”Don’t worry, Xiaoyao will be fine. I imagine we’ll have Master Hao Feng’s reply in the next couple of days,” Bai Ruozhu consoled him.

”Mhm,” Chu Hai nodded, but the melancholy in his eyes hadn’t lessened much.

Before long, the sovereign arrived, smiling warmly at Bai Ruozhu, ”Yingtong misunderstood you. I’ve explained to her, also instructing her to respect you from now on. Don’t lower yourself to argue with a child.”

Bai Ruozhu responded with a smile, ”It’s no trouble. I would have been shocked too. After all, that hand is quite eerie. Luckily, I’ve already found the medicine to counteract it.”

The sovereign was delighted upon hearing this. ”That’s wonderful news. If there were many of those invulnerable meat corpses, they would be difficult to deal with. It’s best if Lady Bai has a solution.”

Bai Ruozhu gave some drug powder to the sovereign, saying, ”Your Majesty, make sure you and your guards carry some of this drug powder. If you encounter Jin Jing, it can help subdue her.”

”Very good, I thank you,” said the sovereign graciously.

Meanwhile, Princess Yingtong, feeling wronged, rode out of the palace on her horse, which was indeed her prized Sweat-blood Treasure Horse. She left the guards trailing far behind her.

Why should she apologize to Lin Zhu? For what reason? Princess Yingtong, full of anger, smacked her horse fiercely on its hindquarters and headed straight for the Ao Residence. Ao Qi was her cousin, and the Grand Princess was her aunt. Now that her mother was under house arrest and she couldn’t visit her, the only person she could vent to was Ao Qi.

Because Princess Yingtong visited the Ao Residence quite frequently, she was never stopped, and with her impetuous nature, she usually didn’t wait to be announced but would head straight to see Ao Qi. Today was no exception.

Just as she walked into Ao Qi’s yard, she suddenly heard a conversation between Ao Qi and the Grand Princess from inside.

”Qi’er, you’re not young anymore. Talk to your mother about what’s on your mind; there’s nothing to be embarrassed about. You’ve seen Yingtong’s feelings, haven’t you?”

Hearing the Grand Princess say this, Yingtong blushed and halted her steps, unsure whether she should come forward at this moment.

”Mother, I have always regarded Yingtong as a sister. Let’s not bring this up anymore. I’ll take the opportunity to clarify things with her,” Ao Qi said.

Yingtong’s face turned from red to white, and quickly to a shade of ashen.

”Could it be that you already have someone in your heart?” the Grand Princess pressed.

”Yes, I have someone I care about. She has saved my life, but it’s just not convenient for us to be together right now, so let’s talk about my marriage later,” Ao Qi said.

The Grand Princess immediately thought of the person who had given Ao Qi the Seven-color Ganoderma. Could it be a woman? She was an open-minded mother, and since her son’s marriage was his own decision, she did not object after hearing this but simply said, ”I won’t force you, but don’t make me wait too long.”

However, Princess Yingtong, who was outside, misinterpreted the situation. She thought since Lin Zhu had medical skills and must have saved Ao Qi before, and Lin Zhu had a husband, so it was inconvenient for them to be together now.

With this thought, she felt an inexplicable anger. Why would Ao Qi get involved with a married woman, bringing shame to the royal family!

”Princess, why are you standing here?” Ao Qi’s maid came back from outside and saw Princess Yingtong standing in the yard and asked.

This startled the mother and son inside, both of whom knew that Yingtong must have overheard their conversation.

The Grand Princess came out of the house and went over to hold Yingtong’s hand, smiling and saying, ”Why didn’t you come inside?”

Princess Yingtong angrily shook off her hand and said furiously, ”I can’t believe you two are such people! How could you trust that woman of dubious origin? Ao Qi, you dare to woo a married woman without fearing the loss of our royal family’s face?”

As soon as the Grand Princess mentioned a woman of doubtful origin, Ao Qi’s face darkened immediately. But when she mentioned ”a married woman,” he found it strange and asked, ”What married woman? The woman I like has never been married, not even engaged!”

”Don’t try to justify yourself. Lin Zhu’s husband is right there by her side. They seem to have a good relationship on the surface, but behind the scenes, she’s seducing you. Shameless!” Princess Yingtong cried in anger.

The Grand Princess and Ao Qi looked at each other, bewildered. When had they ever talked about Mrs. Bai?

”Yingtong, you’ve misunderstood. The person Ao Qi was talking about is the one who saved his life when he was traveling outside, not Mrs. Bai,” the Grand Princess explained patiently.

But Princess Yingtong refused to listen and turned away, crying as she ran off.

”Yingtong’s temperament will get her in trouble sooner or later,” the Grand Princess sighed.

”I was just about to go to the palace to report the progress of contacting other families to His Majesty, and I can also mentioned this matter so that His Majesty can pay more attention to her, especially since her mother has been locked up,” Ao Qi said with some sympathy.

The Grand Princess also sighed, ”Yes, what has the child done wrong.”
