Chapter 597: Chapter 599: No One Can Ruin Our Marriage

”What?” Bai Ruozhu’s eyes widened, why would there suddenly be a royal decree summoning him to the capital?

She thought of his background and felt a little uneasy.

”Let’s go outside to talk, your grandmother is eavesdropping again.” Jiang Yichun said with a look of contempt, could the secrets of the imperial court be casually eavesdropped upon?

Bai Ruozhu’s face fell, ”Alright.”

The old lady hadn’t heard anything, and when she saw Bai Ruozhu going out with Officer Yi, she spat in disgust and muttered, ”What kind of person, always messing around.”

Just as she finished speaking, a bucket of vegetable-washing water splashed onto her skirt and feet, she screamed, ”What are you doing? Who splashed water on me?”

Guizhi poked her head out of the kitchen, with an apologetic face she said, ”Ah, old lady, why are you hiding in silence here? Don’t stand near the kitchen in the future, luckily I splashed you with vegetable-washing water, what if it had been boiling water from a hot pot?”

”You, you did it on purpose!” the old lady said through gritted teeth, but Guizhi didn’t pay any attention to her and hummed a song while going to cook.

Bai Ruozhu and Jiang Yichun didn’t go far, they heard the commotion in the yard but both didn’t have the mind to quarrel with the old lady anymore.

Jiang Yichun seemed to be in a hurry, he led Bai Ruozhu deeper into the alley, then whispered, ”Those doctors have been kidnapped.”

”What?” Bai Ruozhu was shocked once again, she immediately reacted, it was strange for the spy of the empire to keep this a secret.

”When did it happen?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

”It should have been a while ago, initially, the officers did not know there was a problem with Li Yi. On one hand, they were trying to rescue the people and on the other, they were secretly investigating. Unfortunately, when I received the letter yesterday, the people still hadn’t been saved back.” Jiang Yichun said angrily.

Bai Ruozhu thought of those four people and felt a little worried. Although they initially looked down on her and even intentionally made trouble, later on, all four of them treated her with respect.

Although they didn’t invite her to eat before leaving like normal people, they all sincerely thanked her.

One of them was a woman too. She didn’t know what would happen if she was caught, the result definitely wouldn’t be good. The more Bai Ruozhu thought about it, the more it was unbearable.

Jiang Yichun grasped her hand, softly saying, ”Don’t worry, my teacher has taken over the matter.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, but still asked somewhat confused, ”Then why do they want you to go to the capital?”

”Didn’t I want to move out into the open before and get a government position to propose to your parents? Although we couldn’t wipe out Batianzhai, we have removed the tumour that was Li Yi, so the imperial court is ready to reward me.”

He touched his nose as he said, ” As for the emperor’s urgent summon, perhaps he remembered about me. Moreover, he may have found out about Li Yi’s background, he should want to talk to me privately.”

”You mustn’t be silly enough to reveal everything, also tell Senior Fox, those royal secrets must be kept inside. Knowing too much will sooner or later become a thorn in the emperor’s side.” Bai Ruozhu cautioned seriously.

Jiang Yichun started laughing, although his mask blocked his face, his bright eyes revealed his good mood.

”Sometimes, I can’t help but wonder how you know so much? When I was your age, I was just a naive kid, I didn’t understand anything.” Jiang Yichun said with a laugh.

Bai Ruozhu laughed and didn’t say anything. She has lived two lifetimes, and plus seen many period dramas and novels, so she had learned quite a lot from others’ experiences.

”Don’t rush to praise me. You have known the emperor since childhood, what if he gives you a marriage decree when he is happy?” Bai Ruozhu said with a smirk. This kind of plot was too common in dramas, and since Jiang Yichun was twenty-one and hadn’t married yet, the emperor must be worried about him.

Jiang Yichun pinched Bai Ruozhu’s hand and said, ”I would directly ask him to arrange a marriage for us. We need to arrange our wedding before Elder Jiang Ge notices me.”

Elder Jiang Ge, even if he has no real power now, his prestige is still there.

”Don’t worry, no one can break up our marriage, not even the emperor.” Jiang Yichun stared into Bai Ruozhu’s eyes, saying seriously.

Bai Ruozhu pouted, ”But can’t we wait till your memory loss curse is lifted before you leave? I’m a little worried about the situation before the curse is lifted.”

”I also wanted to wait for a few more days, but the government office has already issued the order, otherwise I wouldn’t have rushed here so early. They have arranged for me to leave immediately in the afternoon, first by land, then by water straight to the capital. If everything goes smoothly, I will arrive very quickly. I’ll come back to marry you as soon as I handle the stuff at the capital, don’t find reasons to refuse me anymore.” Jiang Yichun said, touching her soft pink lips. If they weren’t on the street and there weren’t guards behind him, he really wanted to kiss her deeply.

”I’ll write to you all the way, you also have to reply to me and you’re not allowed to be lazy.” He said somewhat autocratically.

”Alright, I’ll definitely reply, and I promise to tell you everything in detail.” Bai Ruozhu blushed and laughed.

”Ruozhu, wait for me!” He whispered.

”Mm.” Bai Ruozhu nodded fervently.

Jiang Yichun left the same day. Because it involved the secret orders of the government office, Bai Ruozhu couldn’t see him off and could only hope in her heart that he would be safe along the way and arrive in the capital quickly and smoothly.

The next morning, the Zhou Deshun family took the old lady Bai, along with two letters written by Bai Zepei and left. Before leaving, Old lady Bai was cursing, but once she was on the horse carriage, she sighed deeply, as if she had finally saved her own life.

Thus, the Bai family yard suddenly quieted down, and there was no longer a resentful expression on everyone’s faces.

Bai Ruozhu was gloomily worried about Jiang Yichun for a day, after which she rearranged her mood, deciding to focus on business. Jiang Yichun had gone to the capital to work hard, and for their future, he had returned to the place he had not wanted to go to for many years. She should also work hard in the rear. She was not a cuscuta, she wanted to be the kapok tree that accompanied him.

Just as Bai Ruozhu had drawn up a plan for Hua Xiangrong and was preparing to implement it, the Meng family sent an invitation. The invitation was to the Meng family’s plum appreciation banquet after the new year. The banquet was solely organised by Wang Miaoshuang, who enthusiastically invited Bai Ruozhu. Bai Ruozhu didn’t know what scheme Wang Miaoshuang was plotting, but she felt that things would not be simple.

But she would not retreat in the slightest. Who knew whether it would end up creating trouble for her, or let her take advantage of it to promote Hua Xiangrong? She, Bai Ruozhu was not a vegetarian.

However, Bai Ruozhu misjudged Wang Miaoshuang’s intentions. Wang Miaoshuang didn’t actually want to create trouble for her, but she even deliberately created opportunities for her to show off.

Mouka went to Hong Kong by herself today, and didn’t buy wifi. I thought I would be ok, but I almost got lost and couldn’t get back. Finally, I crossed the border back to Shenzhen, then dizzily followed the crowd to the entrance point and almost entered Hong Kong again... I’m speechless, so there are only three Chapters today, I’ll work hard to make it up tomorrow~
