Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 553: Chapter 555: Is Amnesia related to Wu Wanqing?

Jiang Yichun’s body jerked violently, causing the fried shrimp he had just picked up with his chopsticks to fall.

Upon seeing his reaction, Bai Ruozhu knew there had to be truth to the matter, causing a sour feeling to stir within her. What on earth was going on? They were about to establish their relationship, yet he had a hidden past?

Seeing Bai Ruozhu staring intently at him, Jiang Yichun silently cursed Wu Wanqing in his mind. He didn’t need to test it to know that Wu Wanqing was not giving up, otherwise, what was she up to behind his back?

”If you don’t explain, I will have to ask Wu Wanqing. I’m sure she will be more than happy to tell me more, but I’m not sure what the consequences of that will be.” Bai Ruozhu’s face grew cold. Was he really planning on keeping her in the dark continuously?

Jiang Yichun heaved a heavy sigh and said, ”I knew I should not have kept it from you. I planned to tell you in a few days. About a year ago, while on a mission, I was ambushed. It was extremely dangerous, even more so than when you saved me. I thought I was dead for sure. After I managed to escape and contacted my master and the others, I discovered that they had been looking for me for several months. But I just could not remember what had happened in between.”

”As for the matter with another woman, I myself didn’t know until recently, when I mentioned my intention to marry you to my master, that he told me I was no longer a virgin when they found me.” Jiang Yichun scratched his head irritably as he spoke.

Dengdeng, on the side, had no idea what they were saying. Seeing him scratch his head, he also extended his little hand to grab his hair. As a result, both young and old ended up messing Jiang Yichun’s hair.

Normally, Bai Ruozhu would have laughed at this scene, but now no matter how she looked at it, she could not bring herself to laugh.

”I think my junior sister learned about it from our master.” Jiang Yichun spoke softly then looked nervously at Bai Ruozhu. ”I truly had no intentions of deceiving you, but I could not find the right opportunity to speak up. Especially since I almost lost my life recently.”

Bai Ruozhu knew he was trying to make himself look pitiful, making her heart feel even more blocked, yet she could not bring herself to blame him.

”Didn’t you try to investigate it? Isn’t there any clue?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Shaking his head, Jiang Yichun replied, ”I traveled to many places and asked if anyone had seen me, but there were no leads.”

Bai Ruozhu could not help but remember the cold way he had once asked if anyone had seen him. So this was his reason.

Wait! Her heart skipped a beat. If Jiang Yichun suffered brain damage leading to partial memory loss, then she should have noticed something when she examined his pulse. Why had she not discovered it?

She hurriedly reached out to check his pulse again and found that other than his injuries, there was nothing wrong with his brain!

Looking at Jiang Yichun anxiously, she asked, ”Were you badly injured when you were first rescued? Who was the first to rush to your aid?”

”I was severely injured. Several bones were broken. I set off a signal flare, and junior sister, along with our eldest senior brother, was the first to arrive.” Jiang Yichun’s expression dimmed a bit as he mentioned his deceased eldest senior brother.

”I do not know whether your medical skills are the same as mine, but when I checked your pulse, I didn’t notice any problems with your brain. You should not have any missing memories.” Bai Ruozhu narrowed her eyes slightly, then added, ”Unless some unknown factors influenced you, such as poison, which I am not an expert at.”

”Are you suggesting that my junior sister poisoned me, causing me to forget those events?” Jiang Yichun’s brows furrowed. His contract with Wu Wanqing, which was already not positive, cooled even more.

In the past, when he first began following his master, junior sister was a little girl who only knew how to giggle sweetly at Bai Ruozhu. As they got closer over time, she always looked for him to play and took care of his food and living conditions. Among the three senior brothers, she liked to cling to him the most.

Junior sister used to persist on calling him ’little brother,’ claiming that he was the last to enter the door. But their master had her call him ’third senior brother,’ making junior sister cry a lot.

As they grew older, junior sister still liked to cling to him and even suggested to be his wife when they grew up. He thought she was just joking because she was young, so he jokingly agreed.

Later, when they grew up, the situation changed. He consciously felt that the eldest senior brother also liked junior sister. However, he was not too displeased. It seemed normal to him that everyone liked junior sister because she was their master’s only child.

It was not until he fell in love with Bai Ruozhu that he realized what it truly meant to be in love with someone. Just as when he was in Anyuan Town, he noticed that Wan Minglu liked Bai Ruozhu and wanted to drive Wan Minglu out of the County Government Office, preventing him from being an officer. However, considering that Wan Minglu was a relative of the Bai family, he held back.

Even when he was unsure if he liked Bai Ruozhu, he instinctively blocked Du Zhongshu from visiting Bai Ruozhu. It was the same mentality.

Yet, he was still very disappointed back then. He felt that junior sister had betrayed him, or rather, deceived him.

In reality, upon careful thinking, he knew that junior sister was close not just to him, but also to the eldest and second senior brothers. She didn’t rely much on the second senior brother, simply because he was younger.

Even the eldest senior brother once told him, ”Wanqing says she wants to marry me. I do not want to let her down, nor do I want our brotherly relationship to fade. You should not persist.”

He should’ve realized long before that junior sister was not as simple as she seemed. But what mattered her marriage to him? He did not want to think more about it, not considering that his memory loss might have something to do with junior sister.

Seeing him lost in his thoughts, Bai Ruozhu did not say anything more. Noticing that the food on the table had gone cold, she sighed. She should have finished her meal before bringing this up. It was such a waste of her hard work in cooking.

Snapping back to reality, Jiang Yichun immediately understood why she was sighing. He called over the guards outside and said, ”Take the food to be warmed up and bring it back. Nothing should be missing.”

Noticing his menacing demeanor, the guards quickly nodded in agreement. They swiftly packed the meals into food boxes and disappeared from the yard.

Bai Ruozhu was momentarily taken aback. It seemed that even a random guard in this residence possessed impressive lightness skills.

”What’s Wu Wanqing’s martial arts skill like?” she suddenly asked.

”Junior sister’s meridians are not suitable for martial arts, so her skills are average.” Jiang Yichun replied.

”And her lightness skill?” Bai Ruozhu continued.

”Her lightness skill is quite good. Master said she had to learn a protective skill at least, and with good lightness skill, she would at least be able to escape when in danger,” Jiang Yichun said, his brow furrowed.

”If your memory loss was caused by Wu Wanqing, what do you plan to do?” Bai Ruozhu asked.

Jiang Yichun furrowed his brow, unsure of how to respond. Finally, he sighed and said, ”Our master’s kindness towards me is as heavy as a mountain. If that were the case, all I could do is report to the master and let him make the judgment.”
