Chapter 581: Chapter 583 - The Forgetful Poisonous Insect, To Cure or Not to Cure?

Bai Ruozhu arrived at the open room door, and only then did she see the scene inside.

Besides Jiang Yichun in the room, there was also a elderly man dressed in Miaojiang attire. When asked why Bai Ruozhu recognized the clothing, it was because it resembled modern Miao ethnic attires.

Jiang Yichun was sitting cross-legged with his eyes closed, while the elderly man nearby was roasting something that looked like kindling, occasionally pressing some acupuncture points on his body.

Bai Ruozhu finally understood that Jiang Yichun was dispelling the poison from the poisonous insect, which was why he hadn’t heard her call earlier.

The elder looked at Bai Ruozhu and smiled kindly, giving an impression of a good-natured old man.

Bai Ruozhu also returned the courtesy. She did not enter the room to disturb them. She retreated to another room and put Dengdeng on the bed to play.

About 15 minutes later, the hoarse voice of the elderly man sounded: ”That’s it, open your eyes. There is someone here to see you.”

”Thank you, Elder Shougu.” Jiang Yichun stood up and bowed respectfully to him. It was clear that he held great respect for this elder.

The old man laughed heartily, ”You should go and meet the visitors now, lest you become impatient.”

Jiang Yichun laughed bashfully and quickly walked towards the other room. Bai Ruozhu had already picked up Dengdeng upon hearing the movement. Seeing him coming over, she said with a smile: ”I should also thank the elder. He helped you dispel the toxin.”

Otherwise, Wu Wanqing would have had the upper hand.

Jiang Yichun smiled and took Dengdeng, holding Dengdeng in one arm and Bai Ruozhu in the other hand. They went back to the previous room, where he introduced Bai Ruozhu to the old man. ”This is Elder Shougu, the very famous Elder in Miaojiang. You wouldn’t guess that he is over a hundred years old.”

Bai Ruozhu was a bit embarrassed when he introduced her as his ”wife and son,” but her attention was soon drawn to the ”hundred years old.” The elder in front of her had jet-black hair and looked to be in his fifties. He seemed to have taken very good care of himself.

When Elder Shougu saw Bai Ruozhu’s admiring look, he laughed and said: ”Living a long life can also be a bore, if it weren’t for him calling me out of retirement, my life would be too dull.”

Bai Ruozhu came back to her senses and quickly bowed to Elder Shougu, saying: ”Nice to meet you, elder.”

Elder Shougu was pleased with her courtesy and smiled: ”Come here, young lady, I have a gift for you.”

Bai Ruozhu was actually quite fearful of the insects used in witchcraft because it represented an unknown field for her. But seeing that Elder Shougu was kind-hearted, her intuition told her that the elder would not harm her, so she readily approached him.

Elder Shougu nodded slightly and laughed, touching Bai Ruozhu’s forehead with his finger. Bai Ruozhu felt that she had reacted quickly, but she was still unable to see what had happened when he touched her forehead.

Immediately, she felt a warm flow from her head flowing downwards. Soon it reached her chest, and her chest pain greatly diminished. Her internal injuries had significantly improved!

Elder Shougu met her astonished eyes and smiled: ”It’s the Qi Nurturing Poisonous Insect.”

This surprised Bai Ruozhu even more. Weren’t insects used in witchcraft all harmful? There was such a thing as a Qi Nurturing Poisonous Insect? Of course, she didn’t ask this question out loud, as she was afraid of offending the old man in front of her.

”In Miaojiang, the truly superior insects are not those that kill people with poison, but those that nurture life and longevity. My case is an example.” Elder Shougu probably guessed Bai Ruozhu’s doubts and explained with a laugh.

”The Qi Nurturing Poisonous Insect is very suitable for treating your internal injuries. Master Jiang also improved a lot because of it,” Elder Shougu said with a smile.

Bai Ruozhu quickly bowed again to Elder Shougu and said, ”Thank you, elder. I already feel much better.”

”Although this Qi Nurturing Poisonous Insect works faster than medication, it can only be used once. You’ll need to rely on medication for the rest,” he added.

Bai Ruozhu quickly nodded. She understood this.

”Ruozhu, the elder has helped me find out that I was not only poisoned by the Turkic people, but I was also poisoned by a Love Forgetting Poisonous Insect.” Jiang Yichun said the words ”Love Forgetting” very lightly, seemingly afraid of upsetting Bai Ruozhu.

As expected! Bai Ruozhu’s heart skipped a beat as she looked at Elder Shougu and asked, ”Elder, is it easy to dismantle the Love Forgetting Poisonous Insect?”

”It’s not impossible to dismantle it. It depends on the opportunity.” As he spoke, his significant gaze fell on Bai Ruozhu.

”Does it have anything to do with me?” Bai Ruozhu touched her nose, she understood Elder Shougu’s implication.

Elder Shougu laughed even more, with a clear hint of enjoying the heat from the sidelines.

”The word ’love’ is very entangling. When he is poisoned by the Love Forgetting Poisonous Insect, naturally he forgets a certain sentiment. If the Love Forgetting Poisonous Insect is removed, he might remember a certain sentiment again. Are you not worried about that?”

How could Bai Ruozhu not be worried? However, Bai Ruozhu felt that if it were her, she would want to find out what had happened during that period. She didn’t want her life to have any regrets. Therefore, she wouldn’t ask Jiang Yichun to give up the chance to recover his memory.

Jiang Yichun was also looking at her. There was a slight pain at the bottom of his eyes. He was about to make her sad again.

”I’m worried, but I still hope he could remember that memory.” Bai Ruozhu said decisively.

”But what if, after the Love Forgetting Poisonous Insect is dismantled, the past feelings return, possibly even double, triple, or quadruple, and become unforgettable? Would you still agree to it?” Elder Shougu suddenly asked.

Jiang Yichun was startled. Elder Shougu did not mention the possibility of feelings returning multiple times before. His eyebrows furrowed as he asked cautiously: ”Elder, is this true?”

Elder Shougu nodded solemnly, ”There’s a high possibility, it depends on the chance.”

Bai Ruozhu fell silent for a moment and sighed after a while: ”Elder, I can’t make a decision right now. Please let me think it through.”

”Why think about that? There’s nothing wrong with missing a memory. I don’t need to remove the Love Forgetting Poisonous Insect.” Jiang Yichun said anxiously.

However, Elder Shougu didn’t listen to Jiang Yichun and seemed to believe that Bai Ruozhu was the one with the qualification to make the decision on this matter.

”Okay, you think it over. You two talk, I have to go out to get some work done.” He left the room as he spoke, paying no heed to their reactions, and soon left the manor.

Both of them remained silent in the room. The atmosphere was awkwardly tranquil. It was only when Dengdeng touched Jiang Yichun’s chin, and made a puffing sound at him, that the tense atmosphere was broken.

”Ruozhu, I meant what I said just now, when the Love Forgetting Poisonous Insect is removed, the feelings will increase multiple times, and even intense affection won’t be real anymore. Why should I let this side effect of the bug affect my emotions?” Jiang Yichun spoke up.

Bai Ruozhu furrowed her eyebrows. She hadn’t thought of this situation before.

”But what if you owed someone love during that period, even got married and had children? Wouldn’t avoiding that past be like shirking responsibility?”

Jiang Yichun shivered, grasping Bai Ruozhu’s hand, ”If my emotions are affected, I will be letting you and Dengdeng down!”
