Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 521: Chapter 523: Jiang Yichun is Missing

Lai Fu didn’t think much, he didn’t even watch Bai Ruozhu after she got off the horse carriage. However, he noticed Bai Ruozhu running after a man when he was driving. However, he was secretive and wouldn’t talk much to others.

”Hey...” Bai Ruozhu ran after him, wanting to call out to Senior Fox, but she realized she didn’t even know his last name, so she just cried out, ”hey.”

Senior Fox stopped when he heard her voice, but his gaze towards her was very complex.

”Senior, I’ve talked to Du Fuling about staying away from you. Though she is not willing, her family has promised to keep her grounded until her marriage.” Bai Ruozhu gave him a slight bow as she spoke.

Senior Fox’s expression softened a bit and he said, ”At least you have some conscience.”

Seeing his mellow response, Bai Ruozhu asked anxiously, ”Do you have any news about him? He sent me a letter saying he would be back in two days, but it’s been four days already. He is always punctual, did something happen over there?”

Sure enough, Senior Fox’s face changed a bit, and Bai Ruozhu noticed. Her heart skipped a beat, did something happen to Jiang Yichun?

She hastily blocked Senior Fox’s way and asked, ”Did something happen?”

Senior Fox looked conflicted, ”These are confidential matters, I can’t tell you.”

Bai Ruozhu was so anxious that she wanted to grab him by the sleeve, but composed herself and said, ”Please tell me, I was the one who saved his life, don’t I have the right to know?”

Senior Fox frowned, his expression very serious, he lowered his voice and said, ”As long as you know, if word gets out, I could lose my head.”

Bai Ruozhu quickly promised, ”I will not leak any information.”

”Surely you know he went to deal with the bandits. But Batianzhai got secret support from the Turkic Country, which suddenly sent a large number of troops to support. His men were ambushed, and they were all dispersed during their attempt to break through the siege. Some people came back to report that he was seriously injured at the time. The Ministry of Public Order has already sent people to rescue him, but there is no news about him yet.” Senior Fox’s voice was low and fast, and he kept looking around to make sure no one was listening to their conversation.

Bai Ruozhu no longer paid attention to Senior Fox’s behavior. Her back was covered in cold sweat, and she couldn’t help but recall the image of Jiang Yichun covered in blood from the last assassination attempt. Her legs went weak, and she was on the verge of collapsing.

How could this happen? Wasn’t he supposed to be back in two days? Why was he attacked by the Turkic Country? Why is he seriously injured and missing?

Seeing Bai Ruozhu in such a desperate state, Senior Fox couldn’t help but sigh and say, ”I know you saved him last time, perhaps this time, you can help him again.” After saying this, he chuckled at himself, ”You are just an ordinary person without any martial arts, I am really desperate.”

”The three of us, all being orphans, were adopted by our master. We grew up with our little sister, but doing our kind of job always comes with danger. Our eldest brother is gone, and I don’t want anything to happen to my younger brother...”

He seemed rather lonely. Bai Ruozhu knew he was not lying. You could see he was genuinely worried about Jiang Yichun. Despite the fact that Jiang Yichun often mentioned that Senior Fox was very crafty and a schemer, there was no hatred or disgust in his tone, but instead, it tasted like the kind of teasing among close friends. Also, it was evident that although Senior Fox played tricks on Jiang Yichun, he was genuinely worried about him when he got into trouble.

”I will rush to the vicinity of Xuantian Mountain today. If there is any news, I will have someone send you a message.” After finishing his sentence, Senior Fox gave a slight nod to Bai Ruozhu and hurriedly left.

Bai Ruozhu, however, stood still for a long time. The image of Jiang Yichun’s last near-death experience and the expression on Senior Fox’s face when he said ”perhaps this time, you can help him” kept spinning in her head, making her almost faint, and her breathing became rapid.

”Miss, are you okay?” A kind woman on the street saw Bai Ruozhu standing there for a long time, panting heavily, and approached her to express her concern.

Bai Ruozhu came to her senses and forced out a smile, telling the kind woman, ”I am fine, thank you, madam.”

”If nothing’s wrong then it’s good. However, if you don’t feel well, you should rush to the clinic. Don’t delay.” The kind woman said and then walked away.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t know how she made her way to Hua Xiangrong. At first, she was praying that nothing would happen to Jiang Yichun. By the end, she kept asking herself if she could indeed be able to help him if she went after him.

Seeing Bai Ruozhu coming empty-handed, Lai Fu asked with a smile, ”Couldn’t you find what you were looking for? Tell me what you need, I might be able to get it for you tomorrow on my way.”

Bai Ruozhu was still distracted and didn’t hear what Lai Fu said.

Lai Fu sensed something off about Bai Ruozhu, she went over to check her temperature and asked, ”Are you okay? Where don’t you feel well?”

”I’m fine, I just feel a little dizzy, probably because of my low energy.” Bai Ruozhu hastily made up an excuse, forgetting that she herself was a doctor; if she was low on energy, she was low on energy, why would she say ”probably”?

”Why don’t you go home and rest? You’ve been working hard lately, and you still have to nurse your baby at night, it’s not easy.” Lai Fu helped Bai Ruozhu tidy up her hair bun sympathetically.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t feel like staying in the shop any longer, so she bid farewell to Lai Fu and asked Wei San to drive her home.

When she got back home, she didn’t feel like talking, so she just made the excuse of feeling sleepy and went back to her room with Dengdeng.

”You little rascal, you never have any worries. I’m so worried. Do you think something will happen to him? Can I help him?” Bai Ruozhu spoke as if talking to herself, for Dengdeng would not respond to her.

She lightly touched Dengdeng’s head. The little boy was growing well, with thick hair on his head. Although his head had been shaved bare for his month-old celebration, it had already grown quite a bit and stood straight on top of his head, making him look a bit like a Super Saiyan.

Unfortunately, Bai Ruozhu was not in the mood to joking with her adorable son. Her chest was so heavy that she was having difficulty breathing.

Should she wait for his news quietly, or should she rush to Xuantian Mountain alone to help? If she decides to rush to Xuantian Mountain, what about Dengdeng? He is still being breastfed. Also, even if she went, could she really help? She might end up dragging him down instead, because all she knows are some self-defense techniques, she doesn’t know any martial arts.

Moreover, even if she goes, how will she find him? What should she do after finding him?

All these were problems. Bai Ruozhu tried hard to calm herself down and carefully sifted through each problem, one by one. In the end, she concluded that she wouldn’t go because she wouldn’t be of much help even if she did.

She had thought through everything and should have been relieved, but her heart was still racing, she felt a dull pain in her chest, and she jumped off the bed. She looked at Dengdeng seriously and said, ”I’ve made my decision. I will wait for him for three days. If there is no news, I will leave. Don’t worry, Dengdeng, I’ll make sure everything is taken care of!”
