Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 436: Chapter 436: Returning with a Full Load

Bai Ruozhu couldn’t hold back her laughter anymore. How was she to repay the favor? By offering herself to him?

But after laughing, she quickly put on a serious face, pondering how she could slip away unnoticed. After all, if Senior Fox could trick Jiang Yichun, wouldn’t he be able to handle someone like Du Fuling?

Senior Fox was wearing a mask, and no one could see his expression, but his voice conveyed his current mood.

”I told you it wasn’t me. If you can’t recognize people, go home and think about it. Do you just randomly repay favors, Miss?”

Bai Ruozhu almost burst into laughter again, but Du Fuling was convinced that the masked man in front of her was her ”savior”. Seeing him turn to leave, she grabbed his sleeve and pleaded pitifully, ”Savior, I’ve been searching for you tirelessly. The smallest favor should be repaid with a fountain of gratitude, let alone a life-saving kindness. Please don’t avoid me anymore.”

Her pulling and tugging had already attracted the attention of passers-by, who looking at them curiously. Bai Ruozhu quickly retreated silently, preparing to slip away unnoticed.

Senior Fox flicked his sleeve, shaking off Du Fuling’s hand. Bai Ruozhu could only imagine his face, if he weren’t wearing a mask, would it be filled with disgust?

”Bai Ruozhu, aren’t you going to explain something?” Senior Fox suddenly turned to the escaping Bai Ruozhu.

Bai Ruozhu quickly stopped, ”I have no idea.” Then she secretly winked at Senior Fox. Even if Senior Fox didn’t care, he still had to adhere to the rules of the political office. Would he really reveal Jiang Yichun?

After being shaken off by her ”savior”, Du Fuling felt a bit of loss. When she heard her ”savior” interrogating Bai Ruozhu, she thought he was blaming Bai Ruozhu for preventing her from finding him, and she started to laugh, feeling victorious. But this laughter triggered pain on her face and she had to take a cold breath, causing her face to collapse.

She quickly covered her nose and mouth with her hand, this image was too ugly! She blamed Bai Ruozhu, if it were not for her, she wouldn’t have had to meet her ”savior” in such an ugly state. She must be jealous, afraid that the ”savior” might like her!

Bai Ruozhu casually waved at Senior Fox and said, ”I really have to go.” After saying that, she quickly left with Little Dengdeng, not looking back. Little Dengdeng, not understanding the situation, turned his head and gave Senior Fox a cute smile.

After walking a long distance, Bai Ruozhu looked back. The foxy senior was walking away, and Du Fuling was following him, covering her nose and trying to talk. She guessed she was speaking of repaying the favor.

Bai Ruozhu quickly changed her route to avoid bumping into them again. But before long, she ran into Du Zhongyong, who seemed to be in a hurry, probably looking for his unfortunate sister.

”Miss Bai, we meet again.” Du Zhongyong politely bowed to Bai Ruozhu, looking as if he wanted to strike up a conversation.

Bai Ruozhu noticed that Du Zhongyong’s attitude and the way he looked at her had changed. There was no longer that seemingly kindly, yet aloof, demeanor when he first visited her at the house with Mrs. Du. He must have heard about her getting close to the Meng Residence.

She disliked such opportunistic people, so she pointed to the street and said, ”Are you looking for Miss Du? I just saw her walking away with a man. He was called...savior I believe.”

As expected, Du Zhongyong’s face changed. He hurriedly bowed to Bai Ruozhu and said, ”I should take my leave, then. Fuling is still injured, I need to take her back the doctor.”

Is he afraid that she will run off with another man? Bai Ruozhu inwardly chuckled.

Du Fuling herself was such an oddball. Although the Du family wasn’t counted amongst the high society, they were quite affluent. It wouldn’t have been difficult for her to marry into a good family. So, why did she need to offer herself to a man?

Well, it was not wrong for her to pursue true love either. So, let her pursue that Senior Fox. Hahaha.

In the blink of an eye, it was the next morning. Jiang Yichun still had not shown up. Bai Ruozhu was somewhat regretting not speaking kindly the day before and asking the Senior Fox about where Yichun had gone. But even if he had gone out on a mission, he wouldn’t reveal it to her. And even if she knew, could she go find him?

After a simple breakfast, the siblings went to visit the Meng family again. As usual, Bai Zepei went to meet Meng Liangshen while Bai Ruozhu went to visit the old lady.

Upon hearing that Bai Ruozhu would return to Anyuan Town early the next morning, the old lady suddenly threw a tantrum, her eyes wide open. ”Didn’t you say your brother was the one supposed to fetch people? Weren’t you supposed to stay in Beiyu City? No, it’s not ideal for you to be alone with the child on that side either. You should just stay with me in this mansion for these couple of days.”

Nanny Lu laughed when she heard this. She winked at Bai Ruozhu and said: ”The old lady has been longing for the dimsum you make.”

Bai Ruozhu was rather amused and said: ”I could teach the techniques to the kitchen maid. The old lady could eat it anytime she wishes.”

But the old lady was rather stubborn, she snorted: ”No! Wouldn’t it being like taking advantage of my old age and bullying you to get your secret recipes? Even when the maid Red Sleeve makes me dim sum, I have never asked for her recipes.”

The old lady’s words added to Bai Ruozhu’s affection for her but it was truly impossible for her not to return. She then showed her predicament and said: ”I have a business in Beiyu City. The manager listens only to my arrangements. I also have to take care of some household affairs. If I don’t go back, I fear it will cause chaos. My second brother is indeed excellent, but as a scholar, he can’t be tied up handling these mundane affairs every day, right?”

The old lady seemed to have softened a bit upon hearing Bai Ruozhu’s words. Bai hurriedly continued, ”Don’t worry, old lady, I’ll let my family arrange for the move as soon as I get back. I should be able to return to Beiyu City within at most seven days. As soon as I come back, I will report to you, is that okay?”

Nanny Lu also chimed in, ”Old Lady, don’t make it hard for the child. Ruozhu has to handle everything big and small in their family. If her family doesn’t come over, she won’t be able to stay here in peace either.”

”Hmph. You have to stay with me for a few days as soon as you come back or else you’ll see my temper,” the old lady warned gruffly. However, Bai Ruozhu was now used to her temper and burst into a sweet smile at her.

As expected, the old lady couldn’t keep a straight face and also started laughing.

When Bai Ruozhu was about to leave, the old lady immediately ordered her people to pack some things for Bai Ruozhu to give to her family. She even wanted to arrange a horse carriage to send Bai Ruozhu back to Anyuan Town. Bai Ruozhu said hurriedly, ”I appreciate your kindness, Old Lady, but I have already arranged a carriage and I can’t go back on my word.”

The old lady accepted her decision, ”Then let the carriage send you and your brother back to your mansion.”

The next morning, just as the day was dawning, the carriage Bai Ruozhu had arranged was waiting outside their mansion. The coachman quickly helped them load their luggage onto the carriage. Then, the carriage left Beiyu City and started heading towards Anyuan Town.

Bai Ruozhu’s face was lit up with excitement. She hadn’t seen her parents for several days and she missed them terribly. Thankfully, she would be reunited with her family by the evening.
