Chapter 409: Chapter 409 Special Detoxification Method

Du Fuling’s crying grew louder, ”My tooth, my tooth fell out, boo hoo hoo...”

Bai Ruozhu quickly recomposed herself and reminded her nearby, ”Miss Du, do not throw it away. I’ve heard it might be possible to reattach it.”

Du Fuling turned and glared at Bai Ruozhu, shrieking, ”Ah, it’s your fault, I won’t let you off.”

Bai Ruozhu smirked, rubbing her own leg and said, ”Clearly, you rushed over to hit me. Look, you kicked my leg until it swelled up, how is this my fault?”

At this point, Dengdeng in Bai Zepei’s arms laughed appropriately, throwing Bai Zepei off guard and making him laugh too. However, he quickly regained composure and said, ”Master Du over there has finished.”

Indeed, a servant came out and said, ”Miss Bai, it’s done, can you have a look to see if it’s okay?”

Bai Ruozhu stopped paying attention to Du Fuling, walked into the room to check Du Zhongshu’s condition, and nodded, ”Good, tell the owner to prepare hot water, we might need it.”

The servant immediately went to fetch hot water. When passing Du Fuling, he was startled and asked, ”Miss, how are you doing? Do you want me to fetch a doctor for you?”

”Idiot, why aren’t you going to fetch one already?” Even in tears, Du Fuling didn’t forget to curse.

The servant naturally couldn’t leave and only could ask the coachman to fetch a doctor. The coachman didn’t dare to upset the young miss and was about to leave when Bai Ruozhu stopped him. She said, ”You need to keep an eye on your young master. He’s so weak, what would happen if he fell into the medicine barrel and choked?”

Upon hearing this, the coachman immediately turned back and tightly guarded the barrel, daring not leave.

Du Fuling remained seated on the corridor, still screaming. Fortunately, the inn wasn’t busy and didn’t draw too many onlookers. The shopkeeper, hearing the commotion, rushed over to check and, seeing what was going on, quickly withdrew.

”Bai Ruozhu, you did that on purpose. Aren’t you a doctor? Then cure me!” shrieked Du Fuling.

Bai Ruozhu didn’t even spare her a glance and coldly said, ”Didn’t you say I’m not a capable doctor? I dare not worsen your condition. Besides, your third brother’s life is at stake. I need to save him first.”

Bai Zepei, holding Dengdeng, couldn’t conveniently enter the room because of the medicinal smell, for fear of affecting Dengdeng. As Du Fuling screamed outside the door, he moved further away to avoid scaring Dengdeng. Surprisingly, he realized that Dengdeng wasn’t afraid at all. Observing Du Fuling’s ridiculous antics, Dengdeng opened his little mouth and laughed.

Bai Zepei’s cold sweat flowed down. He had to address his sister seriously – even as children they already were showing potential signs of being cunning. How did she raise them?

Bai Ruozhu, who was treating Du Zhongshu with acupuncture, naturally didn’t know what Bai Zepei was thinking. Otherwise, she’d certainly be hopping mad. What did she teach the kid?

Du Zhongshu was sitting dazed in the bath barrel, barely conscious. His eyelids could hardly open, as if he would pass out at any moment. Unfortunately, the chest pain caused by the poisoning didn’t allow him any sleep. Seeing Bai Ruozhu detoxifying him and realizing that he was undressed in the barrel made his face hot.

”Pull both his arms out and prop them on the edge of the barrel,” Bai Ruozhu commanded.

The coachman hurriedly did as he was told and after positioning him carefully, he asked, ”Do we need to dry the water?”

”No need,” Bai Ruozhu simply responded, continuing her acupuncture. Sweat was already beading on her forehead.

Actually, Bai Ruozhu was very nervous at this moment as it was her first time dealing with this kind of poison. In her previous life, she received the Poison Scripture and had a good grasp of its contents. However, many of the herbs weren’t available in the modern world. Coupled with strict laws, she didn’t have the opportunity to deal with these poisons.

So when she saw Du Zhongshu poisoned, she was both nervous and excited because she could try the detoxification method outlined in the Poison Scripture. A good toxicologist should not only know how to poison but also how to detoxify; what if they accidentally got poisoned?

Even though she hadn’t practiced this before and was worried that she might not succeed, seeing the slow rise of smoke from Du Zhongshu’s head reassured her that she could succeed.

Half an hour later, after the detoxification had been carried out and water had been added three times, Bai Ruozhu wiped the sweat off her forehead twice. Finally, she let out a long sigh of relief and recalled the silver needles.

At this moment, Du Zhongshu was feeling much better but couldn’t stay awake. His body slowly slid down. If not for the coachman watching him, he would have choked on the medicinal soup.

”Alright, help him up, clean him up and get him dressed. Let him have a good sleep,” Bai Ruozhu said, leaving the room.

Only upon leaving did she notice Du Fuling was gone. Her second brother still stood at the door holding Dengdeng, who stretched his little hand out to her, waiting to be held. She quickly washed her hands before taking Dengdeng into her arms.

”Du Fuling asked her attendant to call for a doctor. The doctor is already treating her in the room,” Bai Zepei informed his sister.

Bai Ruozhu shrugged, a mischievous smile on her face, ”I hope she recovers quickly.”

Thinking of the pitiful state Du Fuling was in, Bai Zepei couldn’t help but laugh too, ”You should rest with the kid for a while. I’ll keep watch over him in his room.”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, took Dengdeng back to her room. She did indeed feel tired.

In the next room, Du Fuling regretted her actions. But it was not assaulting Bai Ruozhu that she regretted; it was prematurely sending her maid back home to deliver the message, leaving her without any assistance.

The doctor checked her condition and said disapprovingly, ”Miss, your nasal bone is broken and can only be set right after the swelling reduces. And I’m sorry, but I can’t help you replace your tooth.”

”Why can’t you do it when others can? How can I show myself with a missing tooth?” Du Fuling shouted, which only resulted in a burst of blood from her tooth socket and intense nose pain.

Seeing her condition, the senior doctor could only apologize, ”I am just a small country doctor with limited skill, please forgive me.” Without waiting for Du Fuling’s response, he took the fee from the servant who called him and left.

Du Fuling began crying again, telling the attendant, ”Call Du Liu to go back and report, let our house send people over, hurry!”

Du Liu was the coachman’s name. The attendant thought about it, considering how the young master wouldn’t be able to travel for a while, and told the coachman to go send the message. It would be good to have more people come to escort the young master back.

On Bai Ruozhu’s side, after feeding Dengdeng and having a good nap with the child, she felt a bit refreshed.

During dinner, Bai Ruozhu and her second brother went downstairs to eat, leaving Du Fuling to moan in her room. When they finished eating, they saw the waiter deliver food to Du Fuling’s room, only to quickly hear the sound of dishes and bowls shattering.

The waiter came out looking annoyed and muttered, ”This lady is really hard to please, I’m not serving her anymore.”

Bai Ruozhu and her second brother laughed quietly and went directly to Du Zhongshu’s room. The wooden barrel had already been moved out, making the room much more spacious.

Du Zhongshu had woken up, but his face was still deathly pale. He was sitting on his bed eating porridge, struggling to get up as he saw the two of them.

”Both of you saved my life, please accept my thanks,” he said.
