Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 432: Chapter 432: Taste Testing Ronglang Pastry

Upon hearing Meng Qiu say this, Bai Ruozhu couldn’t persist too much and was led onto the horse carriage by Meng Qiu, heading towards the mansion near the Beiyu Study Palace.

Bai Ruozhu was with her second brother in the carriage, while Meng Qiu was riding a horse alongside. Bai Ruozhu was thinking she had to buy a horse for her second brother, and she herself also wanted to learn to ride a horse, as those noble ladies must be able to do so.

She originally wanted to ask Meng Qiu where to buy good horses when she got out of the car, but she finally decided not to ask, fearing that the Meng family would misunderstand that she wanted to ask for a good horse.

They arrived at their destination quickly, and Bai Ruozhu was somewhat sentimental when entering. This was where her family was going to live in the future, probably for one or two years.

This mansion wasn’t large, it couldn’t compare with the Xie residence in Anyuan Town. After all, land was relatively scarce in North Beiyu City. However, the overall area of this mansion was much larger than the West Courtyard of the Xie residence, which was sufficient for her large family.

”Master Bai and Miss Bai, please let me know if there is anything you need, and I will arrange for someone to purchase them,” Meng Qiu respectfully asked. At first, Bai Ruozhu’s generosity impressed him, and then the old lady’s fondness for Bai Ruozhu made him respect the Bai siblings even more.

This house can be described as fully equipped. Bai Ruozhu felt a little embarrassed. The house that the Meng family originally prepared for the young master must have been equipped with high-end furniture. As a result, she now inadvertently reaps the benefits.

However, Bai Ruozhu didn’t intend to make it too clear with the Meng family. On the one hand, she needed to live in Beiyu City and needed the support of the Meng family. On the other hand, even if her second brother didn’t enter officialdom, he needed to express his position and prove that he was on Meng Liangshen’s side and would never join Duke Duan.

”Everything is here, what is lacking? Thanks to the old lady for me, Meng. I will visit her before leaving Beiyu City in the next few days,” Bai Ruozhu said.

”Okay, okay, I will report to the old lady. If the young lady has any other needs, just tell me,” Meng Qiu said.

After chatting for a few more moments, Meng Qiu bid farewell and left.

The siblings had a good look around the yard and discussed how to arrange the rooms. The main room, of course, was for their parents to live in. The largest room on the east side was arranged for the Zhang family, and another relatively larger room was given to the eldest brother and sister-in-law...

Both of them were a bit excited. Although they didn’t buy this yard, it technically belonged to their new home.

”Second brother, have you finished your affairs here? When are you going to move back?” Bai Ruozhu asked enthusiastically. She and her second brother were both young and full of curiosity and expectations for Beiyu City. Unlike Bai Yihong, who was so reluctant to leave the countryside.

Young people are more willing to explore the world and gain more experience.

”Almost, we will leave early the day after tomorrow. Let’s go to the Meng residence again the day after tomorrow. You should pay more attention to the old lady’s health,” Bai Zepei said.

Bai Ruozhu smirked at him and said, ”I checked it long ago. The old lady of the Meng family is in good health. There are no other problems, just bad teeth and a slight eye problem, but it’s not serious.”

Bai Zepei nodded, ”You are so thoughtful, it was too much for me to worry about.”

Bai Ruozhu raised her eyebrows and thought to herself, ’Now you know, right?’.

The next day, Bai Zepei went out to work, and Bai Ruozhu wanted to tell Jiang Yichun her departure date, but she didn’t know how to find Jiang Yichun. Even if she knew, she wouldn’t show up suddenly, so she had to take Dengdeng to go window shopping on the streets, hoping to run into Jiang Yichun as well as familiarize herself with Beiyu City.

Beiyu City was so much larger than Anyuan Town that Bai Ruozhu only saw a part of it after being here for several days and she hadn’t even walked through the entire market. She thought that since she was going back, she needed to bring some gifts back, so she chose the West Market with the most food to sell according to the attendant’s words. She intended to purchase the popular desserts in Beiyu City to give to people as gifts.

She arrived at West Market quickly. Dengdeng looked around in her arms and found everything novel. Bai Ruozhu saw him staring at a toy seller selling colored windmills not far away, so she carried him over and bought him a small windmill.

Dengdeng laughed as he held the windmill. Bai Ruozhu demonstrated for him, ”Baby, blow at the windmill and it will rotate.” Bai Ruozhu blew at it and the windmill whirled around.

Dengdeng laughed harder and also tried to blow at it like Bai Ruozhu’s demonstration all the way, non-stop.

In no time, Bai Ruozhu noticed a pastry shop named Ronglang Pastry Shop. The person who was welcoming the guests was a middle-aged woman who seemed very competent. When customers bought pastries from her shop and came out, some had simple oil paper packaging, while others had exquisite gift box packaging. But the top of all these packages had the printed logo of ” North Beiyu City Ronglang Pastry”, which was very eye-catching.

This was the best for giving as gifts, especially for sending to relatives and friends in the village. It also conveyed that you thought of them during your trip and deliberately bought them pastries from Beiyu City.

Bai Ruozhu went into the shop and asked the female boss, ”How is the taste of your pastries? Can I try some?”

No matter how important the facade was, it was not as important as the taste. If it didn’t taste good, she wouldn’t want to give it to anyone.

The woman looked at her strangely and said, ”Miss, are you a foreigner?”

Bai Ruozhu nodded, wondering why everyone in North Beiyu City knew her pastries were delicious.

”Then okay, let me cut some for you to taste.” The woman saw her nodding, she didn’t say much and quickly chose a few kinds of pastries to cut into small pieces and brought them in front of Bai Ruozhu.

Bai Ruozhu knew the shop did not usually offer tastings. Probably no one had ever tried it before. In order to let her taste, they even cut a few pieces of pastry, which was quite generous.

Bai Ruozhu looked at the lady boss with a good impression. If it were someone else, they might just say: ”There are no tastings in our store, you can ask others for how the taste is.” Or they might ridicule Bai Ruozhu, this foreigner, for not knowing about good food. It was rare to see someone as straightforward as she was.

”Thank you.” Bai Ruozhu sincerely thanked her, thinking even if it isn’t particularly delicious, she’d probably buy a couple of boxes anyway.

But after she tasted it, she found the taste was quite good and as a foodie, she knew that the pastries were very fresh, probably made the day before or even the previous nights. Although dimsums can be preserved for a long time, pastries that have been left out usually do not taste as good.

This showed that the shop ran a good business and paid attention to the quality and taste of the pastries.

When Bai Ruozhu finished tasting, she started calculating in her heart how many boxes she needed to buy. But the lady boss misunderstood her thinking and asked nervously, ”Miss, is there something that doesn’t suit your taste? If so, could you give us some suggestions?”

Bai Ruozhu smiled and said, ”Everything is very good, just the green bean cake can be a little lighter, so as not to cover up the fragrance of the green beans.”

The lady boss listened and hurriedly put the remaining green bean cake in her mouth to taste, and her face soon showed understanding.
