Abandoned Woman Busy Farming

Chapter 416: Chapter 416: Are You Here to Seek Medical Help or Pick a Fight?

Bai Ruozhu thanked Deng Zhongren, gave him some copper coins for tea, and Deng Zhongren was very happy to thank the two and leave.

The two wandered outside, had lunch and returned to Linjiang Residence. Unexpectedly a clerk hurriedly came over and said: ”You two are finally back. Some guests have been waiting for you for a long time. They are waiting in the private room upstairs.”

”Who are they?” Bai Zepei asked in a low voice.

”An older lady and a young master.” The clerk said, and was about to lead the two to the private room on the second floor.

Bai Ruozhu secretly made a gesture to send a signal to her second brother, whispered, ”Not many people know us now, right? I’m afraid it’s the Du family.”

Bai Zepei nodded slightly. When the two went upstairs and arrived at the door of the private room, the clerk reported inside, ”The people you are looking for, the Bai siblings, are back.”

The door was opened and Bai Ruozhu and her second brother walked in. They saw a woman inside who was about forty, well maintained, slightly overweight, coupled with a round face, she looked even fatter.

A young master sat beside her. He looked about twenty-five or six years old, with a crystal clear face, very similar to Du Zhongshu, but he looked much more mature and his eyes were much sharper.

Needless to say, the two people in the room must be Madam Du and Du Zhongshu’s older brother.

Bai Ruozhu and Bai Zepei saluted the two, and Bai Zepei said: ”I don’t know why you two are looking for us?”

The young master said, ”I am Du Zhongshu’s older brother, Du Zhongyong, this is our mother. We came here today to ask Miss Bai to help treat my younger sister’s injuries.”

Du Zhongyong’s straightforwardness made Bai Ruozhu admire him a lot. But she did not want to treat Du Fuling. No matter the outcome, she would still have to deal with grievances. Why should she make trouble for herself?

Bai Ruozhu saw that both Du Zhongyong and Madam Du were looking at her. She could only open her mouth and say, ”Miss Du’s injuries are external, and that is not my specialty. Perhaps the famous doctors in the city can handle it better.”

”So, did you ever say to my sister that broken teeth could be reconnected?” Du Zhongyong thought for a moment and decided not to mention that they had already invited a renowned doctor in the city but no one could reconnect the broken tooth.

Although girls were supposed to laugh without showing their teeth at that time, how ugly would a girl look with a missing tooth?

”I just reminded Miss Du not to lose the broken tooth because I heard that it could be reattached.” Bai Ruozhu nodded and said.

”Can’t you do it?” Du Zhongyong asked anxiously.

Madam Du, who was sitting next to him, was already impatient. Without waiting for Bai Ruozhu to speak, she glared at her and said, ”My daughter was injured by you. I advise you to hurry up and find ways to heal her. If you don’t, even if our family master wants to protect you, I can make you unable to cope!”

Du Zhongyong quickly tugged at his mother’s sleeve, persuading: ”Mother, let’s talk properly, they are guests invited by our family.”

After that, he looked at Bai Ruozhu and Bai Zepei again, smiled apologetically, and said: ”I apologize. My mother was worried about my sister’s injury and lost her temper. Please don’t take offense.”

Bai Ruozhu was secretly annoyed. Since the two siblings had entered the room and bowed politely, the mother and son just sat there calmly, as if they were the servants of them, and it was natural for them to show them respect.

Even now, even if Du Zhongyong smiled apologetically to them, he did not stand up. If it weren’t that this mother and son didn’t know what respect was, they must have been looking down upon them.

The same thoughts occurred to Bai Zepei. His face had become grave, and he said: ”My sister only heard that a famous doctor can treat it, but she doesn’t know how. So it’s disappointing to you. We will leave first.”

After saying this, he did not care about the two, and led Bai Ruozhu to leave the room.

At this moment, Du Zhongyong quickly stood up, rushed over and blocked the two. ”Don’t be angry, we have waited for a long time, can’t we just talk properly?”

Bai Ruozhu turned her head and looked at Du Zhongyong, asking, ”Did we make an appointment with you and then we were late, letting you wait for a long time?”

Du Zhongyong was stunned, ”No.”

”Did you send a message in advance saying that you would come, and we missed the appointment, which made you wait for a long time?” Bai Ruozhu’s tone suddenly rose, somewhat threatening. ”Since we have not agreed and you are uninvited, how long you have to wait is not our fault. Whether we can talk properly or not is also not our problem, right?”

Madam Du also stood up, with a furious glare at Bai Ruozhu, ”What, aren’t you happy now? My daughter’s nose was fine, and now it’s broken, and a tooth is missing. I’m not happy! What a deep hatred, you have to hurt a girl like this. How can your woman’s heart be so cruel?”

Bai Ruozhu thought that she could still marry into the Du family with Madam Du being like this? He would definitely ruin the rest of her life.

”Didn’t the madam ask her servants? We were saving Du’s son, but Miss Du not only hindered us, but also rushed to hit me. Consequently, she accidentally fell and hurt herself. Aren’t I supposed to just stand still and get hit?” Bai Ruozhu shrugged. ”Of course, in your eyes, I am a cheap village woman. It’s not a pity if I die, but if I get injured or crippled, who will treat your son? If his poison is not treated in two hours, he will vomit blood and die.” Bai Ruozhu said annoyedly.

”I really doubt whether your daughter has a grudge with her brother. Seeing her brother vomiting blood due to poisoning but still making a fuss on the side, I really don’t know what she was thinking.” Bai Ruozhu didn’t really think that Du Fuling had conspired with others to murder Du Zhongshu. She just thought that Du Fuling did not distinguish between priorities, and had no sense at all.

The more Madam Du listens, the angrier she gets, she pushes her palm onto the table, and the teapot on the table jumps up.

”Insolent! Fuling is just concerned about her third brother. Who knows about your medical skills? What if they can’t treat it well and in turn hurt Zhongshu? If you explained to her properly and did not deliberately trap her, would she fall like that?”

Bai Ruozhu raised her eyebrows, ”Since you said you don’t know how good my medical skills are, then how was Du Zhongshu’s poison cured? Do you really think he just fell off the horse and only suffered some internal injuries? What’s more, if you are unsure, why are you here looking for me? Aren’t you afraid that I can’t cure your daughter and hurt her instead? ”

”You... you...” Madam Du pointed at Bai Ruozhu. She was speechless.

”Since you are seeking medical treatment, don’t act as if you are looking for trouble. I am not afraid to make it clear today. Du Zhongshu was saved because I considered him as a friend and was willing to help him. As for Du Fuling, I dare not to treat her, you should find someone else to do it.” Bai Ruozhu said, turned to her second brother and said: ”Second Brother, let’s go. The city of Beiyu is not managed by the Du family. We will visit the City Lord’s Residence later, don’t let irrelevant people waste our time.”

Madam Du had already lifted the tea cup, heard the three words ”City Lord’s Residence”, and forcefully held back her hand. In the end, she changed her direction and just smashed the teacup on the floor.
