The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 1211: Chapter 1211: It Feels So Good to Be Protected

The cliffside suddenly exploded open, revealing a gigantic hole from which a figure flew out, blood spraying everywhere.

He fared a bit better than the previous unfortunate soul; this man had offered up his Defense Treasure, the Xuan Iron Shield, before entering. Now, the once heavy Xuan Iron Shield was only half its size, with all its runes broken and shattered, the glow dimmed.

That shield had saved his life. Although severely injured, he wasn’t blasted apart like the other unlucky devil.

Lilianna Norman stood far away, watching. Their losses were an embarrassment, and the leader’s face could not conceal his frustration as he gave a cold command, ”Attack together, kill them!”

More than ten people divided into two teams to surround and attack the two hedgehogs, creating a spectacular scene that reminded Carson Flores of watching monster movies.

”Do they always fight this fiercely?”

Lilianna Norman was about to answer when, in the next second, her pupils suddenly contracted; at the same time, Carson’s voice rang out.

”Be careful!”

Despite their numerous wounds, the two hedgehogs shook their bodies and, all at once, thousands of thin yet hard spikes detached from their bodies, shooting out in all directions.

These spikes looked slender on the hedgehogs but were actually as long as spears. How could there be just thousands?

In an instant, all Azure Dragon Gate disciples were engulfed in a barrage of endless spikes, and even Carson Flores and Lilianna Norman, standing far away, were within the attack range.

Carson instantly moved in front of Lilianna, raising a hand to punch.

The sharp Sword Qi burst forth, hitting the oncoming spikes head-on.

”Clang!”

Sword Qi clashed against the spikes, emitting a metallic sound and, incredibly, none of the spikes broke, only veering off to the side.

Two other spikes aimed at Carson’s body, but as they neared within three feet, Sword Qi surged from his body. Powerful gusts of Sword Qi instantly met the spikes, forcefully deflecting them off course to shoot past.

Lilianna Norman was shielded by Carson from behind. She looked at his broad, sturdy back and a subtle ripple stirred in her heart.

She could have easily blocked those few spikes, but Carson positioned himself before her in a heartbeat, safeguarding her without hesitation, a reflex that warmed her heart.

It felt good to be protected.

Although she possessed an Innate Taoist Body, she had always relied on herself. It was not easy to help Westin Flores successfully merge with the Heart of the Demon Emperor, gaining the Demon Emperor’s support to improve her situation slightly. However, the Demon Ancestor incident had once again made her circumstances difficult.

Carson Flores did not notice the softness in Lilianna Norman’s eyes behind him; he had acted instinctively. When he looked around again, his expression changed slightly.

They were far enough to have a buffer against the spikes, but the Azure Dragon Gate disciples, caught off guard in close combat, suffered heavy losses from the unexpected spike attack.

Carson had personally defended against the spike attack, and the power of the spikes was no less than a strike from a Hollow Void Practitioner’s fully manipulated Flying Sword, astonishingly powerful.

Two men had their heads pierced through and died on the spot, four or five more were riddled with gaping holes, spewing blood and severely wounded, leaving nearly everyone injured except for the leader.

After releasing their spikes, the two giant hedgehogs took advantage of everyone’s disarray to strike again.

”Boom!”

”Boom!”

Two more gravely injured men were blown apart, while the others struggled to fly up quickly, distancing themselves from the two hedgehogs.

Looking at each other, the two hedgehogs then turned and ran.

They didn’t run back into the cave but towards the distant woods, clearly indicating their spiky counterattack was their last resort. Seeing numerous enemies remaining, they chose to flee.

The face of the Azure Dragon Gate leader turned ashen. He couldn’t fathom how their overwhelming numbers failed so miserably against just two hedgehogs.

”Gather the Ghost Lingzhi, and withdraw the injured!”

He itched to pursue and kill the two hedgehogs. Still, with many casualties and the wounded needing immediate treatment—and considering the hedgehogs’ formidable resilience—who knew what other tricks they had?

Someone dashed into the cave, swiftly completed the collection, and handed a box to the leader.

The leader glanced at Lilianna Norman, his face sour with embarrassment at being seen in such a state—it would be disastrous if word spread...

If Lilianna had been of common status, he would have silenced her without hesitation. But as she was the Saintess and, despite his indifference, he dared not commit such an act.

”Let’s go!”

The Azure Dragon Gate disciples quickly departed, vanishing without a trace.

Carson looked at Lilianna, ”I really thought you would seize the chance to make a move.”

Lilianna shook her head, ”They still have several people less injured; it’s hard to snatch from them. Besides, you can’t go all out either, or else you risk exposing your identity. Just ten days, it’s only the beginning. We’re not many, so there’s no rush...”

Carson understood at once, ”You’re planning to wait until the strengths of the various forces have been whittled down before acting?”

Lilianna smiled faintly, ”As long as there’s an opportunity, of course I won’t let it slip by!”
