The Female CEO's Personal Bodyguard

Chapter 1208: Chapter 1208: The Correct Use of Slaves

The mountains stood like swords, thrusting into the clouds, numerous towering ancient trees also stood straight like swords, shading the sun and darkening the sky.

In the forest, giant beasts rampaged, shaking the forest, while giant birds rose into the air, their wings spread wide, also shading the sun and darkening the sky.

”There are too many giant beasts around here,” Violeta Herrera commented. ”We’ve only been here for a short while and within this small area, we’ve already seen so many...”

Carson Flores and Violeta Herrera stood on a horizontal branch of a kilometer-tall giant tree, watching the giant beasts flying across the sky.

Carson had placed a Death Imprint on the two of them as soon as they had entered, making them seem like lifeless stones devoid of Spiritual Energy. As long as they stayed out of sight of the giant beasts, they would not be attacked.

This greatly surprised Lilianna Norman.

Not to mention anything else, this tactic alone gave them a significant advantage in such a dangerous place, at least ensuring their safety.

”You’re really skilled,” Violeta admired, ”This move is very useful.”

Carson smiled and said, ”Since you brought me here, I naturally have to contribute. Otherwise, wouldn’t it be a waste? So, let’s talk about the Lingzhi. How do we find it?”

Violeta explained, ”The area where the Lingzhi grows will have a faint black mist surrounding it. The older the Lingzhi, the thicker the mist. We can use this clue to locate the Lingzhi.”

Carson breathed a sigh of relief and smiled, ”There’s a trail to follow, that’s good. The forest is dense; it would really be difficult to find anything without some abnormal phenomenon.”

Violeta pulled out a map, ”This is a map of the entire Imperial Secret Realm. According to His Majesty, the central area is more likely to have Lingzhi. Take a look, do you have any suggestions?”

Carson carefully examined the map. The Imperial Secret Realm was roughly circular, with a circle in the center indicating the area rich in Lingzhi as mentioned by Violeta.

Carson suggested with a smile, ”Other sects bring ten or even twenty people, but it’s just the two of us. We definitely can’t beat them head-on. We’ll have to rely on speed and luck and use our ability to avoid demonic beasts to reach the central area as quickly as possible, hoping to collect more Lingzhi...”

Violeta nodded, ”I was originally planning to skirt around the edges and try our luck, but now with your help in masking our presence, we might as well take a chance.”

”Let’s go, then!”

The two confirmed their direction and flew towards the central area.

As they flew, they startled several giant beasts that chased after them frantically, but Carson used his Ground Shrinking Technique to leave them far behind.

With every step, Carson’s Ground Shrinking Technique covered at least four to five kilometers, and he could freely control the direction of travel, making his movements unpredictable. Although these giant beasts were powerful, they found it difficult to catch up to Carson.

After half a day’s journey, Carson and Violeta approached the central region of the Imperial Secret Realm and discovered the eerie black mist for the first time.

”There!”

Carson pointed to a valley in the distance. Although it was bathed in sunlight, a thick cluster of black mist lingered in the depths of the valley, eerily undisturbed.

Violeta’s eyes brightened, ”Let’s go check it out.”

The two landed and closely hugged the ground as they flew swiftly toward the valley. As they entered the valley, they stopped in their tracks.

On the clearing of the valley, a green giant beast, at least thirty or forty meters tall, was leisurely lounging around.

This beast had a triangular head with a pair of slender antennae, a long neck, two sets of transparent wings, and two limbs shaped like sickles, looking immensely formidable.

”A Giant Mantis!”

Though Carson had seen giant beasts over a hundred meters tall on Mist Island, he was still curiously struck.

”I’ve noticed that many of the giant beast species here exist outside as well, but their sizes are vastly different, and their combat power is incomparable. Are they considered beasts or demonic beasts?”

”Beasts.”

Violeta explained, ”They’re different from us. They are purely beasts but ancient varieties. The bloodline of beasts outside has degenerated over generations. The ancient bloodline no longer exists. Those that survive are very few and usually live in very special environments...”

Special environment? Like Mist Island?

Violeta eyed the Giant Mantis, ”These giant beasts can’t cast spells or create Life-bound Magic Treasures like us. They rely on their innate racial abilities and physical strength. When that strength reaches a certain level, even we might not be able to contend with them...”

Carson nodded, ”This mantis lives in this valley, perhaps it’s guarding that Lingzhi?”

Violeta agreed, ”Very likely. These ancient beasts may not be highly intelligent, but they know what’s beneficial for them. Top-tier rare spiritual medicines like Lingzhi would definitely be guarded by them.”

Carson smiled, ”Then let’s work together. I’m fast, so I’ll lure it away while you go and gather the Lingzhi. Once you’ve gathered it, run. I’ll meet up with you after I shake it off.”

Violeta smirked slightly, ”Sounds good. You’ve discovered the correct use of a ’slave’!”
