Chapter 668: Chapter 668 How Long Can You Hold Out_1

With the tree demon’s shrill cry, countless flying branches, tendrils, and even the roots beneath the ground seemed to come alive, twisting as they rapidly lunged towards Carson Flores.

”Retreat!”

Killian Jaramillo saw this and immediately controlled his Flying Sword to rapidly retreat towards the cliff behind them, quickly approaching it.

Although they couldn’t break free and fly out, at least with their backs to the cliff, they wouldn’t have to fight on two fronts.

Now, there was only one thing left to do: hold on and wait for reinforcements.

In the face of the boundless ocean made up of branches, roots, and tendrils, anyone would feel an overwhelming sense of their own insignificance.

Flames rose.

Fierce flames swept out in an instant, burning everything that approached to ash.

Carson Flores’s gaze was fixed on that hidden verdant branch behind them, roughly guessing that this branch was the tree demon’s lifeline, extremely powerful; Ishaan Roth had died under a sneak attack from this very same verdant branch.

”Let’s see how much longer you can hold out!”

An angry voice echoed in the air, and at the same moment, a barrage of attacks came once more.

Carson Flores released flames again, but the power was deliberately weaker than before.

As the attacks swept in relentlessly, Carson Flores kept controlling the Fire Mirror to unleash flames, burning all the incoming branches, roots, and tendrils, and gradually he pretended to grow weary, with the power of the flames significantly reduced.

Was Carson Flores tired?

Not in the least!

Killian Jaramillo consumed his own Spiritual Energy by striking the Ancient Bell, whereas Carson Flores only used the Spiritual Energy stored in the Water-Fire Mirror. All he did was execute Spirit Arts to control the Fire Mirror and set fires.

It was akin to him holding a Flame Gun, pulling the trigger, and flames would emerge; as long as there was fuel in the accompanying fuel bottle, the flames would not stop.

Is pulling a trigger tiring?

He was waiting.

While Carson Flores was burning the oncoming branches, Killian Jaramillo and Francisco Smith were not idle either. Killian Jaramillo consumed an elixir to restore his Spiritual Energy, intermittently striking the Ancient Bell, while Francisco Smith’s Flying Sword danced through the sky, constantly cutting down any that slipped through the cracks.

The tree demon aimed to exhaust Carson Flores to death, because a previous unforeseen strike from his Fire Blade had significantly wounded her. Moreover, as everyone used their attacks and consumed Spiritual Energy, her manipulation of these branches and roots also consumed Spiritual Energy; all being extensions of her body, wouldn’t be it painful to have them constantly destroyed?

However, after waiting for a long time, the tree demon realized that although Carson Flores’s flames had shrunk a lot, he was like a flame-throwing machine, the fire never seeming to run dry, continuing without end.

The tree demon could no longer hold back!

She also feared that Carson Flores and the others would call in powerful reinforcements; she had to kill these three quickly, snatch their magical treasures, then flee far away and live anew elsewhere.

Finally, when Carson Flores set another fire, burning away everything in front of him, that lush, droplet-like essential branch made its move.

Like a verdant bolt of lightning, it shot through the still-burning flames in an instant, aiming directly at Carson Flores, who stood in the front.

Killian Jaramillo blurted out, ”Careful!”

In the face of this deadly attack, Carson Flores was not the least bit panicked; in fact, a hint of a smile curled up at the corners of his mouth.

You’ve finally taken the bait!

Carson Flores swiftly flipped the Water-Fire Mirror in his hand, turning the Water side to the front. Rippling water glimmered, and amidst the shimmering light, a blue wave of light shot out instantly, followed by a pillar of chilling cold air.

Where the cold air passed, the flames that were still burning were instantly extinguished, and everything froze into ice sculptures.

The verdant branch that was about to pierce Carson Flores had been sprayed directly by this pillar of cold air, instantly freezing, and losing its rapid attacking momentum, it just hung rigidly suspended in mid-air.

The tree demon let out a cry of horror, as she instantly felt a significant portion of her lifeline frozen, completely out of her control!

While the fire caused her agony, the cold was not painful, but it terrified her even more.

In a panic, she thrashed the verdant branch, trying to retract it back into the tree trunk, but Carson Flores wouldn’t give her the chance.

The reason for using the cold air was to freeze it completely, to slow it down; firstly to reduce the force of its attack on him, and secondly to slow down its escape.

It was as if your arm reached out to punch someone, and suddenly everything from your fist to your shoulder went numb; would you be able to punch effectively or retract your fist quickly?

Carson Flores once again flipped the Water-Fire Mirror, with the Fire Mirror ablaze with light. A hundred-meter-long Fire Blade appeared again, flashing through the air, arriving in an instant at the base of the verdant branch, and with a swift cut, neatly severed it, then plunged fiercely once more into its tree trunk body.

”Ah!”

The tree demon let out a heavens-shaking howl.

She could never have imagined that all of Carson Flores’s actions were a ruse!

This strike was as ferocious as his first, showing no sign of weakness at all. Even though she was at the Nascent Soul Pinnacle, her tree trunk had nearly been split in two, and now her lifeline had been severely severed by Carson Flores, followed by another harsh blow from his Fire Blade; it was injury upon injury.

From the break in the lifeline, a large amount of green blood spurted out, as the tree demon twisted wildly, countless branches and roots frantically charging towards Carson Flores and the others like mad.

The tree demon was losing her mind.

At any cost, she was determined to kill these three people!

That fire-setter, he must die!
