Chapter 401: Chapter 250: The Forbes 30 Under 30 Elite List is Announced

...

...

Inside City First Hospital.

Doctors, nurses, and even patients in the wards—many had noticed the news.

Wu Ting, as Fan City’s sole honoree on the Forbes 30 Under 30 list, earned everyone’s admiration and praise.

In a room in the ophthalmology ward.

Shi Lihong had undergone another day of treatment, but her condition hadn’t improved. In fact, it had gotten worse.

Both of her eyes were red and swollen, especially the right one. Her vision had deteriorated further, and now even looking at her phone was a strain.

She had been stubborn before, but today, she couldn’t bring herself to be hard-headed any longer.

However, she had explicitly signed a refusal for further examinations. As a result, Dr. Sun, her attending physician, continued to treat it as simple endophthalmitis, and his visits to her room were no more frequent than for any other patient.

Early this morning, Shi Lihong had suddenly felt a distinct discomfort in the area of her liver.

But she was too proud a person to admit she was wrong to Dr. Sun or Director Dou, believing she would recover with just a bit more treatment.

She had spent all of last night searching for information about endophthalmitis treatments, and everything she found said it was just a minor ailment and nothing to worry about.

Thinking back, a wave of fear washed over her. Shi Lihong took out her phone again, struggling to read with just one eye.

She stumbled upon a trending topic: ”Forbes Jin Country 30 Under 30 List Revealed—Fan City’s Sole Honoree Is Him!”

A woman like Shi Lihong was very interested in such rich lists, and she was extremely curious to see which outstanding talent from Fan City had made the cut.

She tapped on it and saw a handsome photo of Wu Ting.

’This young man is really handsome, and to think he’s a doctor!’

The more she read, the more surprised Shi Lihong became.

”Founder of Wu’s Pharmaceutical Company, Deputy Director of Emergency Surgery and Hepatobiliary Surgery at Fan City First Hospital, head of the Laparoscopic Diagnosis and Treatment Technology Research Center...”

The first time she read it, Shi Lihong didn’t pay close attention, focusing only on Wu Ting’s various credentials and research achievements, which sounded impressive even if she didn’t understand them.

She didn’t get the details, but she understood one thing: this was a top-tier surgeon, especially in diagnostics and surgery.

’This is the kind of amazing doctor patients hope for. Not like the one treating me...’

Suddenly, Shi Lihong’s gaze fell back on Wu Ting’s titles.

’Wu Ting, Deputy Director of Emergency Surgery!’

A terrible thought entered her mind.

’Could it really be that this incredible Director Wu was the one who diagnosed me, and I just assumed he was trying to scam me out of my money?’

An ordinary doctor, maybe. But Director Wu? An honoree on the Forbes list? ’Why would he possibly go out of his way to join a multidisciplinary consultation just to order a few extra tests for me?’

Shi Lihong panicked. She remembered Dr. Sun’s warning—that Director Wu had specifically instructed them to get a diagnosis as soon as possible, or the consequences would be unimaginable...

At that thought, the pain in her eyes intensified. One eye had already been blurry, but now both were starting to lose focus.

”Doctor! Doctor! I want the tests! I want the tests!”

Shi Lihong frantically pressed the call button.

Dr. Sun was still making his rounds in other wards. When a nurse came to find him and told him it was Shi Lihong, Dr. Sun just gave a faint nod.

”Understood. I’ll go over after I’m done with my other patients.”

Dr. Sun had no favorable impression of Shi Lihong. Besides, he had other work to do and could only go see her after he was finished.

Compared to the patients who were cooperative and willing to follow medical advice, Shi Lihong wasn’t worth taking time away from.

Only after Dr. Sun had finished all his work and made his arrangements did he finally arrive at Shi Lihong’s room.

By this point, whether due to psychological stress or not, her liver had begun to ache, and she had started vomiting.

”Dr. Sun, I know I was wrong. I want the examinations, I want the tests. Can you please ask Deputy Director Wu Ting to come and diagnose me again? I’ll cooperate, I’ll cooperate!”

Dr. Sun was a bit surprised. Shi Lihong was being so cooperative today, even asking for Director Wu by name.

Dr. Sun was just a junior resident in ophthalmology; how could he possibly make decisions on Director Wu’s behalf? Moreover, Director Wu was no ordinary physician. He was considered a renowned doctor at City First Hospital and had a great deal of autonomy.

”Alright, go get an abdominal CT first. We’ll proceed with follow-up treatment according to Director Wu’s previous plan.”

”I’ll ask for you now and see if it’s convenient for Director Wu to come.”

”Okay, okay, okay. Thank you, Dr. Sun.”

Realizing that she could be facing the severe consequences Wu Ting had mentioned, Shi Lihong was truly starting to panic.

After a while, she finished her abdominal CT. When she returned, Dr. Sun had news for her.

”I’m very sorry. Director Wu went to Xiao City Jinggang University Affiliated First Hospital today for further training and academic exchange.”
