Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 891: Chapter 865: Having a Poker Face Causes Problems

”My wife might be pregnant, shouldn’t I be happy?” Yu Mingyi retorted.

When he first heard the teasing from everyone, he was momentarily taken aback, but once he accepted the news, he was filled with joy.

There might be a child of his from Da Yi.

But after the happiness, he started to feel fear, to be precise, he was at a loss.

Although Panpan is also his son, and this isn’t his first time being a dad, when he adopted Panpan, he hadn’t yet developed the sense of responsibility that comes with fatherhood; he simply thought raising a child was very easy.

Until the previous marriage broke down, Panpan developed psychological issues, and Da Yi entered his life, guiding him bit by bit towards understanding the responsibilities of being a father. It was only then that he gradually learned what it meant to be a father.

Now he’s expecting another baby, and he’s both happy and anxious, afraid he won’t be able to handle it, afraid he’ll end up causing this baby psychological problems like Panpan...

”Oh my gosh...” Yu Minglang helplessly rubbed his forehead.

It turns out that his stoic-faced second brother actually thinks this way inside!

It’s so frustrating! Having a poker face that doesn’t show emotions really causes problems at critical times!

This guy gets even more stoic when he’s happy, and he’s the same when he’s angry. No one is a mind reader; the truth is, it’s like ”men silent, women cry.”

”I’m not really sure what to do right now, Laomao, what should I prepare for? Should we get a crib for the house? Or should we get a bunk bed and have Panpan share a room with his younger sibling? Will Panpan be unhappy about that, I—”

Suddenly, he turned into a ”hundred thousand whys.”

”My brother, my dear brother!” Yu Minglang was really exasperated with him; this peculiar second brother of his was truly something else. ”When everyone was here earlier, why didn’t you talk to Da Yi about this stuff?”

”...I didn’t want to show my ignorance in front of her.”

The second brother knew that Da Yi particularly trusted him, even going so far as to blindly idolize him. He didn’t deny that he enjoyed that feeling, loved being completely relied on and trusted by her.

How could he let Da Yi see him being bewildered and nervous? As a husband, shouldn’t he always be omnipotent? Even when he’s not, he has to drag his seemingly all-knowing younger brother out to discuss countermeasures!

”You didn’t show ignorance... your reaction just now was downright shameless!” Xiaoqiang thought to himself that if this weren’t his own brother, he would have been even more blunt. Couldn’t Mr. Yu see what kind of expression Da Yi just had?

”Should I go back and explain things to her?” From Xiaoqiang’s reaction, the second brother roughly realized his previous response was inappropriate.

”Forget it, finish what you need to do first, then go back and explain it properly to your wife, comfort her a bit. Women need to be comforted. Look at my wife, she’s so capable outside, but just a little comforting and she’s thrilled. Don’t worry, my wife is with her; she’ll be fine.”

”Then what preparations should I make now?” Mr. Yu also trusted Qian.

”First, go to a bookstore and buy some related books; then later, buy a bouquet of flowers for her. I’m telling you, don’t buy carnations; buy roses.” Xiaoqiang’s advice came from his own experience.

”They look almost the same.” It’s no surprise that brothers share similar views.

”I also thought they looked the same, but women are a very peculiar species; even slight differences matter. Just buy roses, alright, let’s go to the bookstore first.”

Yu Laomao, who has never been a dad, was giving his second brother some questionable advice, while his wife wasn’t idle at all.

”Da Yi, sit there and don’t move, I’ll help you pack. Take these clothes and toiletries, and let’s bring the medical card and ID too.”

Qian was busy packing clothes into the suitcase while Mrs. Yu was outside with Panpan, keeping an eye on things.

This was a high-profile retreat with seamless cooperation among the women.

”Will the second brother be upset when he comes back?” Da Yi was completely pushed by General Qian and Mrs. Yu; she wasn’t too eager to trouble her second brother.

”He can feel whatever he wants; when he had that stony face, did he not consider that you might be upset?” Qian satisfyingly closed the suitcase.

”Actually... I’m not upset, just a bit worried about the second brother. He seems not to like the baby very much.”

Even in this situation, Da Yi couldn’t bear to have any complaints about her second brother.

”Is this Stockholm Syndrome? He’s acting like that, and you’re enjoying the process?”

Qian was really angry at her lack of fight. Just after Mr. Yu’s earlier performance, Xiaoqiang refraining from beating him was already very polite!

”I...”

”Are you done? Hurry up, they’ll be back soon!” Mrs. Yu opened the door, feeling an exciting thrill like in a spy movie.

A mother-in-law helping her daughter-in-law to leave home, packing and taking the grandson along, clearly showing that today’s performance from Mr. Yu had aroused public anger!

Encouraged by Qian and with Mrs. Yu’s strong support, Da Yi left with Qian, even taking little Panpan with her.

Thus, Mr. Yu returned home with a bouquet of roses, only to see his mother sitting on the couch, watching television. He looked around.

”Where’s Da Yi?”

Mrs. Yu was engrossed in her drama, casually answering.

”Gone.”

”Gone shopping? Which market did she go to? I’ll pick her up.” Even though Yu Mingyi hadn’t read the books he bought, he knew pregnant women shouldn’t lift heavy things.

”She left with Qian, leaving you, heartless man.”

Mrs. Yu was speaking in an old-fashioned tone, mimicking the historical drama’s style.

Mr. Yu hadn’t caught on, thinking his wife and Qian went out to play, ”Then I’ll call her.”

To see when she was coming back.

”No need to call. Number’s changed.”

Yu Mingyi turned his head, confused by the situation.

”In light of your evil deeds, I, on behalf of the family, have made the following judgment: 1. Deeply reflect and make a self-criticism, 2. Until you’ve repented sufficiently, do not see Da Yi and the child, 3. You have the right to remain silent.”

Yu Mingyi took a few seconds to process his mother’s words and finally came to a conclusion through gritted teeth.

”Are you saying... that Yu Laomao’s woman took my wife and ran away?!”

”Congratulations, you’ve guessed right—now move! Don’t block my TV!” Mrs. Yu said disdainfully.

For a jerk, especially one who’s a jerk to her beloved grandson, she must treat him as coldly as winter!

Right now, what Yu Mingyi most wanted to do was storm over to Yu Minglang’s place, drag the boy out, and give him a good beating!

This is what he calls Qian taking good care of Da Yi?!

She took great care of her, alright, by running off with her!

”Old Two, I always thought you were steady, how are you still so immature? You’re in your thirties now, how can you be so clueless? Da Yi is willing to bear a child for you, how can you treat her like that? I’m telling you, if you dare to make her get an abortion, don’t come back home. I’ll tell you, I’ve been hiding this from your father; you better redeem yourself properly, or I’ll report you to your dad and see if he doesn’t teach you a lesson!”
