Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 867: Chapter 841: Time to Show Off

Fugui is quite calm. After experiencing that terrifying scene, he thought he wouldn’t survive, yet unexpectedly, he managed to hold onto his life, suffering only from a bone fracture.

However, Liumei was heartbroken, crying uncontrollably at the sight of his bone fracture.

When Yu Minglang called, it was just when Liumei was crying the hardest, so much so that she couldn’t muster the strength to answer the phone, and it was Fugui who told Xiaoqiang a lie.

”I was scared to death. If something happened to you, what would I do...” Liumei was still shaken, nearly losing her mind when she heard about the accident.

”It’s alright, just a minor injury, nothing serious.” Fugui’s leg was wrapped up, and he was sitting in a wheelchair rented from the hospital.

”Why didn’t you tell Lang? My aunt is here too, she’s an orthopedic expert, it would be reassuring for her to look at you.” Liumei knew Mrs. Yu was an authority in orthopedics and seemingly had a secret family recipe; applying her ancestral medicine could make fractures heal faster.

”It’s still in time after Qian’er’s competition for her to have a look.”

Fugui was considerate, knowing that today the Yu Family was quite celebratory. Qian had a great victory in her debut, and everyone was gathered for a dinner. If he told Qian about the accident now, everyone from the Yu Family would certainly come to see him, disrupting their family gathering, which wouldn’t be appropriate.

”But...” Liumei looked at Fugui on the wheelchair, feeling deeply unwilling in her heart.

”It’s okay. I’ll be staying here for the next two days; I can’t go home. I’ll go home after Qian’er finishes competing.”

Fugui thought it through thoroughly.

If he returned home now, it would be inconvenient with Dalong preparing for the college entrance examination and Qian participating in competitions. He feared distracting his siblings if Qian’s mother had to take care of him.

Liumei was deeply distressed; he considered everyone thoroughly but not himself.

”I’ll find a hotel for now, and later I’ll trouble you to call Mrs Jia, saying we’re going on a trip out of town for a few days.”

”What hotel? My sister-in-law moved out, we have an empty room, come over, and I can take care of you.”

”Is it convenient?” Fugui’s mind sparked with little fireworks.

”What’s inconvenient about it, given your condition now?”

Liumei didn’t think much about it, Fugui was slightly stimulated, his leg was hurt, but other parts were fine.

However, seeing how worried Liumei was, Fugui felt satisfied, as if losing something there had gained something here. Although his leg was hurt, he managed to propose, and Liumei would personally take care of him!

Thinking about the next few days under the same roof, Fugui felt a little giddy.

Qian and the others didn’t know Fugui had an accident, the family was sitting together joyfully having dinner.

Mr. Yu also arrived later, joining the two families and Mrs. Yu at a packed table.

Mrs. Yu watched as both sons had wives now, seeing the harmonious family atmosphere, she was very satisfied.

”Come on, Qian, have a spicy pig’s knuckle, it’s a fortune and brings smoothness in everything.” Mrs. Yu scooped a pig’s knuckle for Qian, then another for Dayi to show impartiality.

”Dayi, have some too, you’re too skinny.” Though Dayi had gained some weight recently, she still appeared too slim in Mrs. Yu’s eyes.

”I’ve been eating well, but still not gaining weight.” Second brother echoed.

Qian remained silent, wondering if they were speaking blindly because Dayi had indeed become rounder lately.

Dayi intended to eat, but the aroma from the pig’s knuckle made her inexplicably nauseous, as if her stomach was churning, so she passed it over to second brother.

”Eat more.”

Xiaoqiang watched Dayi give the dish to second brother, feeling a bit envious, hence he cast an expectant glance toward his own wife.

It was time to showcase the love between Meiqiang and his wife!

Qian acted as if she hadn’t noticed his impatient eyes, focusing on enjoying her meal, praising as she ate.

”Mom, your cooking is getting better and better, really delicious, aromatic without being greasy, spicy without being harsh, truly tasty.”

Mrs. Yu was very pleased with her daughter-in-law’s praise, while Xiaoqiang felt stuffed; how could this carefree little fellow eat alone without sharing?

”If you like it, eat more. Here, try these crispy ribs.” Mrs. Yu served both daughters-in-law along with her lovely grandson.

Dayi also felt nauseated by the ribs, the feeling of revulsion was getting more pronounced, but having already passed her mother-in-law’s dish to second brother, she felt inappropriate to continue passing on, fearing her mother-in-law might think she had an issue with her. Holding the ribs hesitantly in mid-air, she couldn’t take a bite.

She felt a bit sick...

”Mom, I want to eat.” Sensing Dayi feeling off, Panpan timely intervened, allowing Dayi to quickly pass the ribs to Panpan with relief.

This move won Mrs. Yu’s heart; Dayi was indeed a good stepmother, sincerely caring for Panpan like her own son.

Nonetheless, Mrs. Yu had some subtle thoughts.

She cared for Panpan but, being an adopted child, she still hoped Dayi and second brother might have another child to stabilize their relationship.

Mr. Yu was already tagged as divorced with a child in Mrs. Yu’s mind, and with a young daughter-in-law, another child could benefit family stability.

But considering Dayi was still young, and had three more years of her master’s degree to complete, expecting another addition to second brother’s family seemed overly optimistic.

Hence, Mrs. Yu shifted her focus, noticing Qian enjoying the crunch of bones and Xiaoqiang looking forlorn for not receiving a dish from his wife.

”Qian, are you going for a PhD next year?”

”Yes.”

”Well, I heard from Mrs Liu at our institute, her daughter is also pursuing a PhD, apparently, the first couple of years were quite leisurely.”

Qian placed down her ribs; she was perceptive enough to guess the continuation after just a few words from her mother-in-law.

Yu Minglang also caught the hint, Mrs Liu’s daughter just completed her postpartum confinement, what was she hinting at!

”Mom, would you like this? It’s really tasty.” Yu Minglang hastily offered a drumstick to his mother, thinking such a big drumstick should quieten you!

He was halfway through when Qian managed a reply.

”It’s indeed leisurely, so I plan to take care of my health this year, aiming for a baby next year, using the leisurely pace of my first year of PhD to nurture the child. Once I’m busy with minor dissertations, Mom will have to help us find a reliable nanny.”

Crunch!

Yu Minglang’s drumstick fell into the soup bowl, splattering everywhere, spraying Mr. Yu’s expressionless face.

Mr. Yu calmly wiped his face with a napkin, amused at his brother’s silly expression.

”Qian, Qianbao?!” Xiaoqiang exclaimed with a tremor in his voice.

He thought Qian wouldn’t want children for several years; though he wanted to be a father somewhat, he dared not bring it up to her, knowing it was still early considering her academic pursuits, the news was too sudden!

Mrs. Yu didn’t expect Qian to be so decisive either, maintaining an astonished expression for several seconds.
