Return of the Antagonistic Lady Boss

Chapter 890: Chapter 864: You’re Not Actually Happy, Are You?

The eldest looks all deflated; ever since she came back from the bathroom she’s been like this, not really talking.

When they got to Mr. Yu’s place, Mrs. Yu made an excuse about going out for a stroll, took Panpan to walk around the yard, and left the space to Qian and the eldest.

Qian remembered what Mrs. Yu had just said—the old lady was really taking it to heart. She was determined to swagger around with her grandson, let those people see that Panpan’s status at home was not what some people imagined, and also take the chance to knock some sense into certain folks. Anyway, even though words don’t have legs, once they’re out, they’ll spread, from one to ten to a hundred.

”Do you want some tea?” the eldest asked Qian.

”Don’t bother, just sit and rest. Are you feeling unwell? You look terrible.”

”I’m going to get a blood test tomorrow morning, do you want to go with me?” the eldest asked Qian.

”I’m not going, I’m too busy.”

”The competition’s over, what are you still busy with?”

”Sleeping. It’s finally over and summer vacation’s coming; I need my beauty sleep, then go back to my mom’s place with Xiaoqiang. My little brother is about to take the college entrance exam; I’m going back to check on him.”

Right in the feels, bro!

The eldest’s expression was like, I actually lost to sleep in your priorities!

”If Second Brother had a flight mission, I could go with you, but he’s on vacation now, he’s got tons of time. You don’t ask him to accompany you, what do you need me for? Isn’t this kind of thing supposed to be done as a couple?”

At the mention of Second Brother, the eldest’s face darkened.

”I haven’t even asked you yet—what were you two talking about in the bathroom for so long?”

”...We didn’t talk about anything. He just sat there with that gloomy face, staring at me without saying a word...” The eldest had wanted to hold it in, but ended up bursting into tears anyway.

”Qian, does he not want the baby? But I don’t want an abortion.”

From all of Mr. Yu’s behavior, it really felt like he didn’t like kids at all. Even in Qian’s eyes, it looked that way.

What kind of father-to-be goes around with such a gloomy face, like some zombie?

Qian couldn’t figure it out either.

Could it be that because his ex-wife cheated on him and put a green hat on his head, Mr. Yu was traumatized and now hated kids by association?

That didn’t sound right either. A fighter jet pilot should have top-tier mental resilience, so what was the real reason? Qian honestly couldn’t figure out that tight-lipped man.

She handed the eldest a tissue and watched her cry like a pear blossom in the rain, feeling both heartbroken and furious.

”Don’t cry. We’re definitely keeping this baby. What Mr. Yu says doesn’t count. If you two dare get rid of this child, our old lady will show up at your door with a kitchen knife, I swear.”

What elder doesn’t hope their kids’ families are stable and their descendants flourish?

There were already three kids in the family, but they were all grown, not as fun as when they were little. Plus, since Second Brother’s household was a remarriage, from Mrs. Yu’s perspective, she definitely hoped they’d have a child soon to tie the two of them together.

”But Second Brother doesn’t like it. I asked him before whether he liked children—he answered ’no’ so decisively! At the time I thought, if he doesn’t like them, then we just won’t have any. Who knew the supermarket’s sale day would come later than he did, and that delay caused this irreparable outcome...”

The way the eldest said it sounded like she was at a confession meeting; Qian was completely confused.

”What does a sale have to do with getting pregnant?”

”Well... don’t ask.” The eldest was too embarrassed to say.

”Fine, we won’t go into how this baby came to be. Now that it’s here, I’m just asking—do you want it or not?”

”Second Brother, he—”

”Why are you worrying about him? I’m asking you!”

”I want it!” How could she not? This was her baby.

”Good, at least you’ve got an attitude. The belly is on you, the baby’s in your stomach, what Mr. Yu says doesn’t count. If he dares mess with a pregnant woman-to-be, he’s asking for it!”

”Qian... what are you going to do?” The eldest’s heart skipped a beat at Qian’s expression—was Qian about to stir up trouble again?

”I’m giving you two a wedding gift. This round of treatment is on the house!”

”Second Brother, what exactly are you thinking?”

Yu Minglang asked as he drove.

The back seat was, unsurprisingly, silent; Yu Minglang wasn’t surprised at all.

His Second Brother had this trait—those ears of his could automatically filter out any question he didn’t want to answer.

Just when Xiaoqiang thought he was about to face Mr. Yu’s signature silent treatment again, Yu Mingyi actually spoke.

”Little one, say... if your Second Sister-in-law really is pregnant, what should I do?”

”It’s your kid, and you’re asking me what to do?” Yu Minglang was completely done with him.

Another stretch of silence.

Yu Minglang was truly speechless at Yu Mingyi, and even more impressed by the eldest—how on earth did she put up with such a stiff man?

”You dragged me out here, where exactly are we going? We’re already downtown.”

”I don’t know either.”

Yu Mingyi didn’t know how to describe what he was feeling at that moment, but Xiaoqiang had only one thought.

He really wanted to smack him!

Parking by the roadside, Yu Minglang turned his head. ”Mr. Yu, if you dare say you don’t want to be this kid’s dad, no problem at all. I’ll immediately have my wife and your wife look for a backup. My wife is practically a professional at this sort of thing!”

”Are you looking for a beating?” Mr. Yu replied darkly.

”Right now it’s not about me looking for trouble; it’s you who’s sending mixed signals! Your wife might be pregnant and you’re pulling that coffin-board face? Seriously, this is only because your wife has no temper. If it were mine and I treated her like this, she could come up with a hundred ways to kill me. Maybe I’d just keel over in my sleep one night and no one would ever find the cause.”

Yu Minglang was exaggerating a little. Qian wouldn’t go that far, but she definitely wouldn’t let him off easy. If she didn’t flay a few layers of skin off him, she’d never drop it.

”Do I really have a coffin-board face?” Yu Mingyi frowned.

Yu Minglang’s response was to adjust the mirror angle. Have a look yourself!

”Good thing your son is used to that face of yours. Honestly, swap in some timid kid and he’d burst into tears on the spot. I think if you ever quit flying and change careers, you can totally go work at a kindergarten. When the kids nap and some brat refuses to sleep, you just stand in the middle of the room with that exact expression. Boom—every single one will shut their eyes in terror and sleep straight through!”

Yu Minglang’s words didn’t make Yu Mingyi angry, because he could see it too—he really was way too serious.

So he raised a hand, trying to relax his expression a bit, but it didn’t work. He was just wound too tight. Had he just scared the eldest like that?

Now that it finally hit him, Yu Mingyi started to agonize over it and couldn’t help asking Yu Minglang about it.

”It’s fine. My wife’s with your wife. Whatever’s bothering your wife, my wife can fix it.”

”Right...” Yu Mingyi let out a long breath.

Neither man expected Qian’s way of handling emotions to be that extreme.

”Wait—so you’re not unhappy, which means you actually—!!!” Yu Minglang suddenly put it together and stared at his Second Brother in disbelief.

”Don’t tell me you’re happy about this?”
