Ice Age Apocalypse: I Hoard Billions of Supplies

In the room, everyone looked at each other, remaining silent for a long time. Eventually, all eyes fell on Zhang Yi.

Before coming, Zhang Yi had told them to only accomplish their own objective and not interfere with any local affairs.

While their team indeed possessed formidable power, there was no need to make an enemy of an entire region-level force.

After all, there were also Epsilons here.

Zhang Yi sat on the sofa, hands resting on his knees as he scanned the group.

”Don’t do anything unnecessary,” he emphasized again. But then he smiled and said, ”However, since we’re here, we need to understand exactly what kind of environment this place is.”

”Tonight, I will go out to investigate Sangha Monastery and the Great Snow Mountain. At that time,” he pointed at Liang Yue, ”Liang Yue, you help me investigate the Pagyi Family. But remember, just observe. Don’t alert anyone.”

Liang Yue’s superhuman ability index had now risen to 9,800 points. Looking across the entire Snowy Plateau Region, few could defeat her.

Moreover, she herself came from a special security department and was extremely proficient in reconnaissance and counter-reconnaissance.

Having her handle this task was more than suitable.

Liang Yue immediately nodded firmly. ”I will!”

”The rest of you, just eat, drink, and relax at home, then wait for news. Don’t worry, no matter how chaotic things get here, we are safe.”

Zhang Yi smiled, comforting everyone.

Everyone felt relatively at ease. After all, with Zhang Yi here, they could leave immediately if any problem arose.

Zhang Yi told everyone to go back and rest, not to get too tense because of today’s experiences.

However, Yang Xinxin stayed behind, wanting to speak with Zhang Yi alone.

”Brother, why did you suddenly ask Teacher Liang to investigate the Pagyi Family?”

Yang Xinxin looked intently at Zhang Yi with bright eyes.

According to their initial plan, the others would stay put while Zhang Yi alone investigated the Great Snow Mountain and Sangha Monastery.

Everything else was to be ignored.

Clearly, having Liang Yue take action was Zhang Yi’s impromptu decision.

Zhang Yi gave a faint smile, his gaze profound as he said, ”That’s because before coming, we didn’t understand this place. But now, I feel the Pagyi Family isn’t so simple either.”

Everything that happened today was too bizarre.

Especially that woman who committed suicide, and those serfs with their strange expressions, always gave Zhang Yi a strong sense of foreboding.

Out of his habitual caution, Zhang Yi had to find out what hidden secrets this place held. Only then could he feel at ease.

”Pagyi Gesang wouldn’t dare to scheme against an Epsilon,” Yang Xinxin said to Zhang Yi. ”Unless Sangha Monastery is backing him.”

Zhang Yi habitually rubbed the back of his hand, his gaze turning cautious and cold.

”So I must figure everything out. This mess in the Snowy Plateau Region isn’t simple. We must tread very carefully with every step.”

...

It was past eight in the evening when Pagyi Gesang finally returned to the Pagyi Family estate.

Surrounded by a large contingent of his Personal Guard, he arrived at the Pagyi Family gate, then walked briskly inside, wearing a large cloak.

Lhobu was already waiting at the entrance.

”Master, the honored guests have arrived home. As you instructed, I arranged for them to stay in the rooms specially prepared for them.”

Pagyi Gesang’s mustache twitched, his face full of excited smiles.

”Good that they’re here. Quickly, take me to see them.”

Seeing the delighted smile on Pagyi Gesang’s face, Lhobu looked somewhat puzzled.

”Master, although I know they are honored guests, what kind of guests are they, to deserve such treatment from you?”

Pagyi Gesang was one of the most powerful figures in the entire Southwest Region.

Even though the Yasha Langtai Family was now dominant, despite having the Lord of the Charnel Ground, they hadn’t been able to swallow the Pagyi Family in over two years.

Even today, though Pagyi Gesang often complained to Zhang Yi, their deep-rooted strength still made everyone wary.

Pagyi Gesang glanced at Lhobu. ”That’s not something for you to inquire about.”

Lhobu was so frightened he quickly knelt on the ground. ”Master, I was wrong!”

Pagyi Gesang snorted coldly. ”Get up and tell me what happened today!”

Zhang Yi’s identity was a major secret, known only to Pagyi Gesang and his personal bodyguard Suolang Deji.

However, Lhobu was also a direct-line clansman of the Pagyi Family, and by seniority, he was Pagyi Gesang’s uncle.

If anyone else had asked that question today, they likely would have been dragged out for a sky burial sacrifice.

Lhobu’s heart thumped wildly, but he still recounted everything that happened today in an orderly manner.

Including taking Zhang Yi and the others on a tour of the Pagyi Family estate, and the matter of the deceased Twenty-seventh Concubine.

Pagyi Gesang’s steps slowed slightly as he frowned and looked at Lhobu.

”Gesang Meiduo is dead?”

Lhobu nodded. ”Yes.”

Pagyi Gesang asked in a very cold voice, ”Why did she appear in the honored guests’ room?”

Lhobu trembled. ”The Twenty-seventh Concubine was your most favored wife, so... the guards didn’t dare to stop her easily.”

Pagyi Gesang snorted coldly. ”Execute all the guards on duty today! They can just fill the quota for sacrificial offerings needed by Sangha Monastery to make ritual implements.”

”Yes. But... should we continue investigating the concubine’s death?”

Lhobu asked tentatively.

Pagyi Gesang narrowed his eyes, dismissing it. ”She was just a woman. If the honored guest likes her, I can send him a hundred more!”

Lhobu swallowed hard. He now understood just how important those outsiders were to Pagyi Gesang.

After returning, Pagyi Gesang didn’t pause for a moment, heading straight for Zhang Yi’s residence.

Soon, the defensive personnel here were completely replaced by his Personal Guard.

The original personnel were swiftly cleaned up, silently, without leaving a trace.

Pagyi Gesang had everyone wait outside, entering the courtyard only with Suolang Deji.

Once inside the courtyard, he switched to an extremely enthusiastic demeanor, calling out, ”Oh, my friends from afar! You’ve finally arrived! I’ve missed you so much I couldn’t sleep every day, almost counting all the stars in the sky!”

Zhang Yi opened the door and, seeing the enthusiastic, large, fat Pagyi Gesang, also put on a broad smile.

”Family Head Pagyi, long time no see!”

Family Head Pagyi walked over, warmly shaking Zhang Yi’s hand.

”No need to be so formal, just call me Gesang. We’re not outsiders!”

Pagyi Gesang looked extremely chummy, smiling until his eyes became slits.

Then he said with an apologetic expression, ”I’m truly sorry. I was just called away to attend a discussion meeting for the Prayer Festival. As the head of the Pagyi Family, I absolutely couldn’t refuse. Otherwise, I would have definitely brought the Pagyi Family to personally welcome you at the entrance to the Snowy Plateau Region!”
