The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 498: Chapter 498 Top Gu’s Similar Encounter

Without realizing it, Little Taotie had already been taking classes for a week and was now facing her first Saturday, during which Teacher Ma’s classes lasted from morning to evening, not leaving until after dinner.

Little Taotie slumped tiredly on the couch, “Teacher Ma is so strict, it’s as if he’s eager to cram all the knowledge into me.”

Hua Jinyan was also somewhat exhausted and nodded, “Perhaps he knew that tomorrow we would be going to the Special Department for our first day, so he wanted us to learn as much as possible.”

Little Taotie sat up, her eyes full of curiosity, “What will the colleagues in the Special Department be like? Will they have different eyes like the captain?”

“Not sure, but they must all be very special, otherwise they wouldn’t be absorbed into the Special Department.”

…

The eastern sky began to lighten with a pale white that soon turned into a faint orange; as the sun rose, Mo Haihao’s car was already parked in front of the villa, and the sound of the car horn could be heard.

Little Taotie and Hua Jinyan had woken up early, and as Little Taotie, who was spreading strawberry jam on a slice of bread, jogged all the way to the door and put on her white sneakers, she dashed out of the house.

Hua Jinyan picked up the crossbody bag she had left on a chair and after greeting Cheng Guodong and Qin Xin, followed her out.

Cheng Guodong was somewhat worried and wanted to follow, but he managed to restrain himself in the end.

Qin Xin watched out the window until the black car drove off and disappeared from sight, then he withdrew his gaze.

Cheng Guodong said, “I have already investigated Gu Yixing, and he is a pitiful person.”

“A pitiful person?” Qin Xin was puzzled, “Top Gu seems to be enjoying endless glory, I’ve heard he is quite arrogant.”

“How shall I put it…” Cheng Guodong picked up his coffee, “The reason he hit it off so well with Little Taotie is because he shares a similar ordeal.”

“A similar ordeal?” Qin Xin was surprised, “Swapped at birth?”

Cheng Guodong nodded, “The maid was sentenced to death not only because it was her first offense. Through her, the police uncovered a dark industry chain, which included Gu Yixing as a victim.”

Qin Xin became serious and put down his coffee, “Tell me more.”

“He was originally the son of a jeweler from G City, but he was swapped out by a butler who replaced the Gu Family’s only child with his own illegitimate son and sold the legitimate son to the Mainland. He then ended up in a performing troupe, where he learned acrobatics from a young age. Later, because he had a good voice, he became a martial arts actor, which was a slight improvement. But in reality, not by much, getting beaten and scolded was part of daily life.”

At these words, a sympathetic look appeared in Qin Xin’s eyes.

“Juggling is not very popular domestically, but it is quite the sensation abroad. When I was overseas, a friend invited me to a juggling performance. Those children, so young, were forced to perform head-balancing acts.”

“One child kept climbing onto a chair setup, and with each layer, another chair was added. In a moment of inattention, he fell down.”

Qin Xin’s expression darkened, “After he was taken away, I thought he would be sent to the hospital, but then I saw backstage the troupe leader scolding him; he wasn’t sent to the hospital at all.”

“Those children are treated as mere money-making tools; why would they be sent to a hospital, interrupting their money-making,” Cheng Guodong said with a bitter sigh and a shake of his head. “Later, Gu Yixing was discovered by a talent scout who paid a large sum of money to buy him out, offered hush money, and threatened the people from those performing troupes. Only then was Top Gu’s current status established.”

Qin Xin was amazed, “Those people are surprisingly trustworthy; after all these years, they have never sought him out or revealed a word about it.”

Cheng Guodong’s expression grew complicated, “It was Gu Yixing himself who went back to threaten them. Exactly what he said is unknown, but after that incident, none of those people dared to contact him or even seemed to dare to mention his name. So his appearance to intimidate that couple in jail might actually frighten them, and once they’re released, they probably won’t dare to harass his sister anymore.”
