The Lovely Heiress Is Actually A God Beast

Chapter 479: Chapter 479: Female Singer Announces Retirement

When the sun set, a family of four was having dinner inside the thatched cottage, and they were about to say their goodbyes after the meal.

The female singer lamented, “Occasionally staying in a mountain village really changes one’s mood, it feels like time slows down.”

Cheng Lu nodded, “In the village, life is leisurely and slow-paced, unlike in the first-tier city, where the pace is too fast. Every day is like going to war–even lying in bed, one can’t completely quiet the mind, still thinking about tomorrow’s work schedule and such.”

The washed-up male model lowered his eyes, feeling a bittersweet emotion.

He too had his moments of glory, walking the runway for top international brands, even being appointed as the exclusive male model for some.

But the fact is, modeling is a career that feeds on youth.

It wasn’t that his personal appeal had waned or his figure had deteriorated that this “Slaughter Knife” of time had ruined his career, but rather the constant influx of new blood and more beautiful “flowers” into the industry.

This led to the situation where the new waves of the Yangtze River push the old waves ahead, and the old waves die on the beach.

Even living in a first-tier city, what difference did it make from the pace of life in this village?

Humans are always such contradictions.

Accustomed to the fast pace of city life, people yearn to go mountain climbing or relax in a B&B, seeking the silence of a quiet village and enjoying the slow rhythm of a pastoral life.

Yet, unbeknownst to them, many crave the fast pace of the city, enjoying a life that’s constantly busy.

Perhaps it’s the restlessness of a hard life, the fear of this quiet, this slow-paced, and the unsettling feeling that comes with it.

The city longs for the countryside, the village yearns for the city.

“What are you thinking about?” The female singer moved closer to her husband and saw that there was not much meat in his bowl, she took some from her own bowl and gave it to him.

The washed-up male model looked up, met his wife’s tender smile, and couldn’t help but smile himself.

His heart was often restless, but his wife and children could calm him down.

Back then, those former colleagues who can still stand tall in the modeling world today, are actually unmarried. Once they really have a family, they can let go, just like himself, willing to settle down.

His wife was a singer with not a small reputation, and her die-hard fans always felt he was kept by her, but in reality, over the years of their marriage, he had never let his wife spend a penny on him.

When he made a name for himself, he bought a house and saved quite a bit of money, and now he lived off the rental income from those properties and bank interest.

Many things are misunderstood by the outside world, yet there’s always deliberate slander.

He had never thought of joining a reality show. It was only after his wife’s repeated requests that he agreed to come.

Who knew how many people would criticize him after the show aired?

He silently ate the meat in his bowl, thinking that the supply of sleeping pills at home seemed to be running out and that he should get some more soon.

After dinner, when they were ready to take their leave, Little Steamed Bun and Little Jasmine suddenly came up holding flowers in both hands.

Little Jasmine wrapped a bracelet around her father’s wrist, smiling innocently and warmly, “Daddy, happy wedding anniversary to you and mommy!”

Little Steamed Bun threw herself into her mother’s arms and, with some difficulty, helped her mother wear a garland, giggling, “Mommy, happy wedding anniversary to you and daddy!”

Cheng Lu, King of Film Xu, Gu Yixing, Little Taotie, and Xiao Lingzhi scattered flowers around them.

King of Film Xu said, “Happy wedding anniversary to you both.”

“Thank you!” The female singer thanked them, then hugged her son tightly and kissed him hard on the forehead.

The washed-up male model was stunned. He looked at the date on his watch, then at his wife, with a look of bewilderment in his eyes.

The female singer sighed, gently embracing him, “If you rid your watch and phone of their calendars, you’ll completely lose track of the dates. Shouldn’t you stop staying at home all the time? Are you avoiding going out?”

“I know… my fans have brought you a lot of pressure. I wanted to bring you to this program to escape all that.”

“All the young people in this village have gone out to work, and the elders who remain don’t know who we are. We can walk freely here without needing sunglasses or masks.”

“Darling, I threw away the sleeping pills in the cabinet.”

“If you can’t sleep, I’ll play the piano for you. Didn’t you say my piano playing could make you feel very comfortable and relaxed?”

The female singer stood up and faced a camera, “I hereby announce my retirement from the industry.”
