Medical and Martial God

「The next morning.」

Ye Xiu and Qin Qing were having breakfast when Qin Qing asked, ”When do you plan to attack the other islands of the Eternal Kingdom?”

”There’s no rush.” Ye Xiu took a sip of porridge and said calmly, ”Over five million Martial Artists from around the world are facing more than one hundred million people in the Eternal Kingdom. This is destined to be a prolonged battle. Moreover, the Spiritual Energy on Biluo Island is rich, and the world’s Martial Artists still have a great deal of room for improvement. What we need to do now is accumulate power, not act rashly.”

Qin Qing thought for a moment. She felt Ye Xiu had a point and asked, ”Then what are your plans for Kristina and Master Nan Xi?”

”I’ll go talk to Master Nan Xi after we finish eating,” Ye Xiu said.

Just then, Mo Luo walked in with a shocked expression. ”Young Master, I watched Hachi’s corpse all night. He didn’t resurrect. However, our intelligence agents report that three hours ago, Hachi returned to the Tiansha Association’s base on Biluo Island and has strictly forbidden any Tiansha members from leaving.”

Ye Xiu was greatly alarmed. ”Hachi’s corpse is right here. How did he manage to resurrect at the Tiansha Association’s base?”

”I can’t figure it out,” Mo Luo said.

Ye Xiu frowned. The mystery of Hachi’s immortality was the most bizarre and illogical thing he had ever encountered.

Previously in Tamwood City, he had blown Hachi’s head to pieces. Afterward, Hachi had appeared on Biluo Island, only to be killed and his body incinerated by Leng Yue. And now this had happened again... It seemed that every time Hachi resurrected, he acquired a new, identical body.

”I think you should capture Hachi and interrogate him thoroughly,” Qin Qing said. ”Besides, he sided with the three Judicator Families over sixty years ago. Through him, you might uncover other Martial Artists from around the world who have also pledged allegiance to them.”

”Hmm,” Ye Xiu nodded and said to Mo Luo, ”Go bring Master Nan Xi here. I’ll speak with her before I go find Hachi.”

”Alright.” Mo Luo nodded and left, quickly returning with the frosty-faced Master Nan Xi.

Ye Xiu greeted her, ”Sit down and eat with us.”

Master Nan Xi gave Ye Xiu a deep look before sitting down and eating elegantly. She projected an air of indifference toward life and death, showing no fear despite being in an enemy camp.

Ye Xiu chuckled and said, ”You’re the one who taught Kristina the Supreme Oblivion Record, aren’t you?”

”I am Kristina’s master.” There was not a trace of emotion in Master Nan Xi’s expression or voice.

”But that’s not the Cultivation Technique you yourself practice,” Ye Xiu said.

”That joke isn’t funny,” Master Nan Xi replied, eating gracefully.

I knew you wouldn’t admit it. Ye Xiu scoffed. ”You’re a disciple of Taoism, a school that has long since vanished from the world. You practice the Sword Dao and were forced to learn the extremely difficult Sword of the Heart. Since the Sword Dao is the Slaughter Path, only by practicing the Sword of the Heart can you prevent your killing intent from leaking out...”

Ye Xiu’s words struck Master Nan Xi’s psychological defenses like heavy hammers. She could no longer maintain her expression of emotionless detachment. Shocked, she asked, ”I’m forty years old and have pretended to practice the Supreme Oblivion Record since I was a child. Not even the three Judicator Families saw through my deception. How did you figure it out?”

Qin Qing also looked at Ye Xiu with childlike curiosity. It was the first time she had ever heard of Taoism, the Sword Dao, or the Sword of the Heart.

”Don’t be nervous. No one in this world besides me can uncover your secret. As for how I did it, you don’t need to know.” Ye Xiu had no intention of revealing his secrets. He continued, ”Now, can you tell me why you took Kristina as your disciple and taught her a perverse Cultivation Technique like the Supreme Oblivion Record?”

Master Nan Xi hesitated for a moment before saying, ”For self-preservation.”

”I don’t understand,” Ye Xiu said.

Master Nan Xi chuckled, but it seemed unnatural, as if she hadn’t laughed in many years. ”You may be an enemy of the three Judicator Families, but you know far too little about them, the Eternal Kingdom, and the Eternal Islands.”

Ye Xiu didn’t respond, knowing she would continue.

As expected, Master Nan Xi went on, ”Over two thousand years ago, before the three Judicator Families took control of the Eternal Islands, this place was a prison used to detain the enemies of the Temple.”

Her words felt like they unlocked some shackles in Ye Xiu’s mind. He asked, ”Are you saying that the Eternal Islands are home to the descendants of the experts imprisoned here by the Temple?”

”I’m surprised by how clever you are.” Master Nan Xi offered a small piece of flattery. ”Exactly. The school of Taoism I belong to is one of them. For the sake of self-preservation and to take revenge on the three Judicator Families, I took Kristina as my disciple and taught her the Supreme Oblivion Record. I intended to mold her into an emotionless person, devoid of love and all worldly ties, and then appoint her as the Taoist Leader. This way, Taoism could exist permanently on the Eternal Islands.”

Just as I suspected... Ye Xiu curled his lip and asked, ”Why didn’t the Golden Family stop you from teaching Kristina the Supreme Oblivion Record?”

”Because the Supreme Oblivion Record is very powerful,” Master Nan Xi laughed. ”So powerful that the Golden Family couldn’t bear to refuse it.”

Powerful my ass! Ye Xiu suddenly felt that the three Judicator Families were like ignorant country bumpkins for actually considering the Supreme Oblivion Record to be powerful.

He asked, ”What is the current attitude of the prisoners’ descendants?”

”They are angry but dare not speak out,” Master Nan Xi said. ”We despise the three Judicator Families, but we have no choice but to obey them. They are too strong; resistance means annihilation.”

”You can resist now,” Ye Xiu encouraged.

”Why?” Master Nan Xi asked. That single question completely exposed her fear of the three Judicator Families.

Ye Xiu thought for a moment and said, ”The three Judicator Families and the Eternal Kingdom are facing millions of Martial Artists from all over the world. They will be worried that you will all seize the opportunity to rebel. Therefore, before they dispatch troops to attack Biluo Island, they will eliminate you first. This is a classic case of quelling internal threats before dealing with external enemies.”

Master Nan Xi’s expression changed abruptly. She suddenly realized Ye Xiu was right. If the prisoners’ descendants were to unite with the Martial Artists from around the world, they would cause massive problems for the three Judicator Families. Moreover, the three Judicator Families had long wanted to move against the prisoners’ descendants.

She said, ”It will be very difficult to persuade them to rebel. They’ve been oppressed for too long and live in constant fear.”

This is a tough problem, indeed. Ye Xiu frowned.

Getting the prisoners’ descendants to rise up in rebellion would be like asking the world’s general populace to rebel against Huang Quan. They have no guts, no strength, and they’re afraid to die.

”It seems we’ll have to win a few impressive battles,” Ye Xiu said after a moment of contemplation. ”Only then will the prisoners’ descendants believe that the world’s Martial Artists can actually eliminate the three Judicator Families.”

Master Nan Xi’s eyes lit up. ”How do you plan to fight?”

”By having the three Judicator Families attack Biluo Island, of course.” Ye Xiu grinned slyly and turned to Mo Luo. ”Go tell Ming Yue to inform the Golden Family that Kristina has fallen into Huang Quan’s hands and that Master Nan Xi and Yue Jinchuan have been killed by Huang Quan.”

Mo Luo nodded and quietly left to find Ming Yue.

Qin Qing almost burst out laughing. She quickly lowered her head and continued to eat quietly, thinking to herself how despicable Ye Xiu’s plan was.

Master Nan Xi mulled it over for a moment. The more she thought, the more suspicious she became. ”Wait a minute,” she said. ”Why do I get the feeling you’re setting me and Taoism up?”
