Medical and Martial God

In fact, Ye Xiu understood Bruce’s little scheme. He wanted to publicly humiliate him, the Xuanse Medicine King, to establish his authority and build a fearsome reputation.

It was just a shame the idiot had picked the wrong person to make an example of.

”Hachi, stop dawdling. Hurry up and get on with it! I’m still waiting to see Ye Xiu howl in pain,” Yan Long urged gleefully.

Ye Xiu squinted at Yan Long. This guy is asking for a beating again.

”The leaders’ meeting has already started. Hachi, don’t waste time on someone as lowly and filthy as Ye Xiu,” urged Dong Puti, the representative from the ’Defeat Ye Xiu Alliance.’

The others present also began to chime in, though the Kings from the various sects of Xuanse remained silent.

Hachi smirked smugly. He removed the flag from its pole, gripped the wooden stick, and said, ”Ye Xiu, you see this, don’t you? Your intentional tardiness has angered everyone. Come on, stick your ass out. I’m about to start.”

Staring at Hachi with a smile that didn’t reach his eyes, Ye Xiu said, ”Go on. Hit me once and see what happens.”

This remark shocked everyone present, except for Meng Yinwan. They couldn’t believe Ye Xiu actually dared to speak to Hachi in such a threatening tone. Hachi was a Sixth Realm War God, after all. He loathed the people of Xuanse and was known for his extreme cruelty.

A sense of doom washed over the crowd. This was no longer just about getting a beating; he was going to lose his life.

However, Hachi’s reaction in the next moment stunned them all. ”Bruce, look! He’s threatening me!” Hachi whined, looking at Bruce like a schoolboy tattling to the teacher.

What was going on? The crowd was bewildered. According to Hachi’s personality, he should have killed Ye Xiu in a rage, or at the very least, attacked him directly. Why would he tattle?

After a moment of surprise, Bruce encouraged Hachi with an air of absolute authority. ”Go ahead and hit him. If he dares to dodge or fight back, I will step in and kill him.”

This gave Hachi the confidence he needed. He raised the stick and said, ”Ye Xiu, let me remind you one more time: Bruce is an Eighth Realm War God. If you dare to dodge or strike back, you’re a dead man!”

With that, he swung the stick at Ye Xiu’s head. Seeing this, everyone was horrified. Hachi wasn’t just planning to give Ye Xiu a few lashes; he was clearly trying to smash his skull with a single blow. The stick in Hachi’s hand wasn’t just wood—infused with Martial Prowess, it was as hard as steel. A blow like that would surely crack Ye Xiu’s head open. Hachi was still the same brutal man, after all, everyone thought.

”Courting death!”

Ye Xiu caught the swinging stick with his left hand. With a sharp pull, he yanked Hachi forward and seized him by the neck with his right hand.

This terrified Hachi, who started shouting, ”Bruce! Bruce, save me!”

Everyone was dumbfounded. The Xuanse Medicine King, Ye Xiu, was actually a Martial Artist? A Sixth Realm War God like Hachi was a mere toy in his hands. When Ye Xiu grabbed his neck, Hachi’s first instinct wasn’t to fight back but to scream for help. Only then did they recall Hachi’s strange behavior earlier. Clearly, Hachi already knew Ye Xiu was a Martial Artist, and a very strong one at that.

Even Meng Yinwan was stunned by Ye Xiu’s strength. Hachi was a genuine Sixth Realm War God, not a Pseudo Sixth Realm like her. Yet, Ye Xiu handled a true Sixth Realm War God with such ease.

Yan Long’s expression was priceless. He felt completely unnerved. I always wanted to beat up Ye Xiu, but it turns out he’s stronger than me! I’m only at the Peak of the Fifth Realm. If a Sixth Realm War God like Hachi is just a toy in his hands, wouldn’t beating me be as easy as crushing an ant? This is bad, so bad! I’m definitely not escaping this beating... Damn it, why have I been getting beaten up every other day since I met him? Yan Long looked as if he was questioning his very existence.

”Ye Xiu, how dare you!” Bruce shot to his feet, his voice cold. ”You were late. Ordering Hachi to strike you was your punishment. Not only did you refuse to accept it, but you also attacked Hachi. Do you really think I don’t dare to kill you? I command you to release Hachi immediately and accept your punishment, or in an instant, I will...”

CRACK!

Before Bruce could finish speaking, a chilling sound echoed through the air. Hachi’s neck had been snapped.

”In an instant, you’ll do what to me?” Ye Xiu asked coldly, casually tossing Hachi’s corpse aside as he stared at Bruce.

Everyone gasped. In defiance of a warning from an Eighth Realm War God, Ye Xiu had simply killed Hachi. This was an open challenge to Bruce.

Yan Long’s mouth twitched. He subconsciously reached up to touch his own neck. A cold shiver ran down his spine.

”I’ll slay you where you stand,” Bruce said coldly, drawing his sword and stepping in front of Ye Xiu.

”You’re welcome to try,” Ye Xiu scoffed, activating Yue Jinchuan’s Water System Totem. Instantly, the aircraft carrier shook, and the surrounding sea began to churn. A gigantic Water Dragon formed from the ocean depths, its villa-sized head rising above the carrier. It let out a deafening roar as it stared down at Bruce.

My goodness! Bruce stumbled back several steps in shock. The faces of everyone else present paled drastically.

They didn’t know Ye Xiu had used a Water System Totem to conjure the Water Dragon; they assumed it was some kind of powerful Big Move he had cultivated. After all, the Water Dragon was immense, and its presence was utterly terrifying.

”You... you... you’re Eighth Realm?” Bruce stammered in astonishment.

”No,” Ye Xiu said with a smile. ”Feel free to attack. I can’t beat you.”

Heh, after you say that, how could I possibly dare to attack? Besides, you’re smiling like you’ve already won... Bruce didn’t dare to make a move. Instead, he forced an awkward laugh. ”Heh heh... Uh, Divine Doctor Ye, I... I was just joking. It’s a special way to meet for the first time, isn’t it? Very memorable, right?”

Inwardly, everyone sneered at Bruce for bullying the weak and fearing the strong.

”I was just joking with you, too.” Ye Xiu smiled as the Water Dragon dissolved back into the sea.

In reality, Yue Jinchuan’s Water System Totem had only awakened to the Sixth Stage. It possessed the power of a Seventh Realm War God, but it was nowhere near strong enough to kill an Eighth Realm War God like Bruce. However, for bluffing and intimidation, the effect was spectacular.

”Heh heh, Divine Doctor Ye, you are truly remarkable for your age. Please, take a seat. Let’s start the leaders’ meeting right away,” Bruce said with a laugh as he returned to his seat, though inwardly he felt as disgusted as if he’d swallowed a fly’s droppings.

Just as Ye Xiu suspected, Bruce had indeed intended to establish his authority by humiliating the Xuanse Medicine King and making everyone fear him. Instead, his attempt failed, and he was thoroughly humbled by Ye Xiu.

”Sure!” Ye Xiu nodded and walked over to Yan Long.

Yan Long shuddered and quickly shot to his feet. ”You sit, you sit! I can stand!”

”Sensible,” Ye Xiu nodded with satisfaction.

Yan Long instantly felt as if he had been forced to eat dog shit.

Seeing this, Bruce narrowed his eyes. It seems Ye Xiu isn’t on good terms with the Xuanse Official Family’s Martial Artist organization. In that case, no matter how strong he is, he won’t be able to affect my plans.

With this in mind, Bruce announced loudly, ”Ladies and gentlemen, the leaders’ meeting will now beg—”

”Wait a minute,” Ye Xiu interrupted.

What the hell? Are you deliberately trying to sabotage my summit? Bruce was furious, but he maintained a kind expression. ”Does Divine Doctor Ye have a question?” he asked.

Ye Xiu nodded and looked around at the crowd. ”Can anyone tell me why Hachi is said to be unkillable?”
