Medical and Martial God

Chapter 484: Chapter 484: Worse Than a Pig or a Dog

Ye Xiu was unaware that a ”calamity” awaited him at the Long Family Manor. At that moment, he and Liu Ying had just arrived at the hospital.

After getting out of the car, Ye Xiu said, ”Let’s find an empty ward. I need to treat your injuries first.”

He had been driving, so he couldn’t treat Liu Ying’s wounds on the road.

But this woman is truly tough. She had been kicked all over by Wei Renwei, leaving her body riddled with injuries and several fractures. Anyone else would have been howling in pain.

Despite the pain causing her to break out in a cold sweat, Liu Ying hadn’t made a sound. She was solely focused on whether her daughter, Huang Xiao, could truly be cured. This display of maternal strength filled Ye Xiu with deep respect.

”I can bear the pain. Please, save my daughter first,” Liu Ying pleaded, her voice trembling.

”Don’t worry, your daughter isn’t in any immediate life-threatening danger. Your injuries are too serious; we should treat you first,” Ye Xiu urged.

”Xiaoxiao is still so young, and she’s been tormented by her illness for a year. Please, cure her sooner and free her from this pain. I can hold on,” Liu Ying insisted.

Ye Xiu could only relent. ”Alright then.”

They hurried toward the inpatient department. Liu Ying limped along, her face pale with pain and slick with sweat, yet she kept ahead of Ye Xiu, her pace only quickening.

The greatness of a mother’s love... Ye Xiu sighed.

They entered the inpatient building and headed straight for the elevator. Suddenly, Liu Ying, who was walking briskly in front, stopped dead. Her eyes widened as she stared at the elevator in the distance, her expression turning exceedingly grim. Ye Xiu followed her gaze and saw a beautiful woman stepping into the elevator, arm in arm with a man.

”What’s wrong?” he asked. ”Do you know them?”

”That man is Xiaoxiao’s father, Huang Deping.” Liu Ying suddenly panicked and ran toward the elevator. She had only taken a couple of steps when the doors slid shut. Reaching them, she began to frantically mash the call button.

Ye Xiu noticed Liu Ying seemed terrified of Huang Deping. ”Huang Deping is decked out in designer brands, so he’s clearly not short on money,” he probed. ”Why won’t he pay for his daughter’s medical bills and surgery? Why is he letting you resort to begging?”

Pacing anxiously by the elevator, Liu Ying answered, ”The woman on his arm is He Li. She used to be my best friend. I don’t know when they started their affair. On top of that, I gave birth to a daughter, which made Huang Deping furious. He forced me to divorce him, kicked Xiaoxiao and me out, and then married He Li.”

A surge of killing intent rose within Ye Xiu. If there was one thing he hated most in his life, it was homewreckers.

”What’s Huang Deping doing here at the hospital with his mistress?” he asked coldly. He already wanted to kill both Huang Deping and He Li.

”He must have found out I’ve been begging,” Liu Ying said, her finger jabbing at the button in agitation. ”He’s come to stop me because what I’m doing brings shame upon him.”

Ye Xiu was taken aback. ”You’re divorced. What right does he have to control you?”

At the mention of this, Liu Ying gritted her teeth in hatred. ”Huang Deping rose from being a local gangster, so he’s pathologically obsessed with his public image. If word gets out that I’m begging on the streets, people will find out he doesn’t care if his own daughter lives or dies, forcing his ex-wife to beg for her treatment money. For me to do something that makes him lose face like this—of course he’d be furious.

”In fact, for the three years since our divorce, he’s been terrified people would gossip about him casting aside his wife and child for someone new. He’s been pressuring me to publicly announce that he divorced me because I cheated. He even demanded I admit Xiaoxiao was my child with some other man, not his biological daughter. I’ve refused every time.

”After Xiaoxiao got sick and was hospitalized, he ordered me not to get her treated, hoping she would die from her illness. That way, there would be no evidence that she’s his biological child.

”Because I refused his twisted demand, he used his connections to get me fired from the factory where I worked. He must have thought that once I lost my job and my savings ran out, the hospital would kick Xiaoxiao out and leave her to fend for herself.

”But he never imagined that even without a job, I would take on odd jobs, even resort to begging...”

Beast! Worse than a pig or a dog! He deserves to die!

Ye Xiu seethed with rage upon hearing her story, his killing intent raging.

The plight of Liu Ying and her daughter was all too similar to his own. Zheng Yiwen had intruded as a mistress, leading to him and his mother being expelled from the Ye Family. Even after that, the Ye Family had continued to persecute them: his uncle was imprisoned, the Kong Family went bankrupt, and his maternal aunt’s family was caught in the crossfire, with only his aunt surviving. His mother and maternal grandparents died tragically in a car crash, while he was framed, hunted, and forced to flee overseas for ten years.

”Don’t be angry,” Ye Xiu said, taking a deep breath to suppress his killing intent and offering a comforting tone. ”It’s not worth ruining your health over scum like him. Don’t worry. Now that you’ve met me, your fates are about to change. After today, you and your daughter will never have to see Huang Deping again.”

His words startled Liu Ying, who quickly tried to dissuade him. ”Mr. Ye, please don’t be rash! Huang Deping isn’t just some small-time thug. He’s a gang leader and the president of the Guoyang branch of Haitong Real Estate. He’s well-connected with all the big shots in Guoyang. If you offend him, you’ll be in danger!”

A gang leader? Ha! Huang Quan is the biggest gang leader in the world.

The president of a real estate branch office? A position as significant as a booger!

”Don’t worry,” Ye Xiu reassured her. ”From now on, you’re the protagonist of this story, and I’m your golden finger—an omnipotent one.”

Seeing that Ye Xiu was dead set on standing up for her, Liu Ying grew even more frantic. Just as she was about to plead with him again, the elevator arrived and its doors slid open.

”Let’s go,” Ye Xiu said, supporting Liu Ying, who could barely stand, as they entered the elevator.

「On the seventh floor.」

Huang Deping and He Li arrived at Huang Xiao’s hospital room. Liu Ying’s mother, Li Xiumei, was looking after Huang Xiao. When she saw Huang Deping enter, her face paled with fear.

A nurse was checking on Huang Xiao’s condition. Seeing Huang Deping, she asked, ”Excuse me, are you Huang Xiao’s father? Her condition has entered a critical stage, and the doctor recommends transferring her to the intensive care unit. Also, her hospital and other fees are now over 30,000 yuan in arrears. Please settle the payment as soon as possible.”

Hearing that Huang Xiao’s condition was so severe and that the bills were overdue, expressions of delight crossed the faces of Huang Deping and He Li.

”I’m aware,” Huang Deping told the nurse coldly. ”You may leave now.”

The nurse nodded and exited the room.

Only then did Li Xiumei timidly ask, ”W-what are you doing here?”

”I came to see when this little bastard is going to die,” Huang Deping said with a vicious smile.

”You...” Li Xiumei was furious but dared not say more. She couldn’t afford to provoke this monster.

”Where’s Liu Ying?” He Li asked.

”She... she went to work. She’s not here,” Li Xiumei said through clenched teeth.

”Work? Ha! You make it sound so fancy,” He Li sneered. ”Did you really think we don’t know Liu Ying has gone out begging?”

”Begging?” Li Xiumei was stunned. ”What do you mean?”
