Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1736: Chapter 1731: Bitter Fruit (25)

So that’s how it is. It seems that this person doesn’t have much of an opinion about Lord Akons.

As Brother Chuitou finished recounting his transcendent life, Fu Qian understood the reason behind his mental state.

Compared to others’ fear of darkness, clearly his experiences are more extensive, having even witnessed the tragic end of his comrades.

Even though there isn’t anything too horrifyingly distorted about this sword and it indeed carries a sacred aura as mentioned before, his psychological shadows make him unwilling to use it again, which is understandable.

Moreover, this is something Brother Chuitou should be grateful for. Sitting across from such a thing for so long, if it were replaced with something more sinister, surely he’d have grown extra parts by now.

”I apologize for causing such a disturbance. It seems I should have come earlier.”

Confronted with the agitated interviewee, Fu Qian casually offered reassurance, and then directly grabbed the sword, carefully examining it.

Uh...

The anger momentarily froze, and it’s clear this action somewhat stimulated the original owner.

However, amidst a series of hesitations, Brother Chuitou didn’t stop it after all.

”Do as you please, I’m finally free—”

The next moment, he seemed to lose strength and slumped into his seat.

Yet this relief lasted less than a second, for he suddenly sprang up, looking towards the window.

Even the thick curtains couldn’t block the trickles of light pouring in, highlighting the lamp on the table to a dim glow like that of a bean.

Dawn has come.

...

This is too dramatic.

Fu Qian, naturally, was quicker to perceive the changing situation outside.

Although this doesn’t mean he sensed something in advance and coordinated his actions to create an illusion of destiny.

Just like how darkness arrived, it disappeared without any sign, unfathomable.

As to whether it’s really destiny, whether his gripping the sword led directly to this change, Fu Qian didn’t sense any direct connection.

The sword is indeed not an ordinary item; the moment he grasped it, the sensation of invincibility surged through his heart.

The power level contained within is evidently higher than that of the Weaver’s Tip he gave away.

Yet, that’s all there is to it. Fu Qian didn’t feel it resonating further with himself, merely a divine weapon.

This is probably why Brother Chuitou and his colleagues could use it normally.

If it were even slightly more active or had special effects, they’d probably become instant sword slaves; Brother Chuitou couldn’t possibly have made such a generous act of handing it over.

Overall, dawn seems like a sheer coincidence.

”If it’s really your sword, well... would you kill me for it?”

Though Fu Qian objectively evaluated on this side, it’s evident the other party didn’t know his usage feelings, plus the striking visual impact of what’s on the table made it hard not to associate it with this natural phenomenon.

Brother Chuitou, finally regaining his ability to speak, showed an expression of relieved self-mockery at that moment.

”What do you think?”

The response came with a more apparent mockery.

Not even bothering to utter a word, Fu Qian gestured towards the door, then directly stood up.

And until Fu Qian stepped outside and closed the door, Brother Chuitou didn’t utter another word.

Clearly, the latter had realized the meaning behind the final act—if he truly wanted to kill him for the sword, why wait till now?

Such an evidently ineffective protective door, the other party patiently knocked three times.

...

Patience indeed proved necessary.

Not only gaining a divine weapon, but also a fitting background to go with it.

Fu Qian, who decisively bid farewell, was very satisfied with this trip.

It’s widely known that to sell something at a high price, quality is one aspect, but what’s more important is to tell a good story.

It seems now he can take it to have a good talk with Dorian.

In fact, this is the greatest significance of this acquisition.

Indeed, while the item is strong, Fu Qian never thought of it as collecting equipment for a game to fight the Demon King.

His working environment has never been so simple and beautiful.

Realizing there was such an item in Brother Chuitou’s room, Fu Qian’s sole purpose was to treat it as a unique collectible.

Just like the dolls in his hand.

The reaction of the elderly lady upon seeing his face made him feel an unprecedented oddity.

Fu Qian never blindly optimistic, it’s hard to simply classify it as Dorian’s impromptu creation in a dream as mentioned before.

Suppose the old lady really has seen him?

She now forgets, as if their paths never crossed, would she be the only exception?

Like Ms. Sara, like Brother Chuitou behind him, like Dorian... when he returns after some time, what scenario will he see, and what will their reactions be?

This question should find some answers when I meet that doctor later.

And before that, Fu Qian doesn’t mind doing a little more preparation.

Like taking some transcendent, token souvenirs from places already visited.

Fu Qian is curious whether this will affect his circumstances, perhaps as special anchor points.

Picking up the doll belonging to Hilary that he has been holding till now, and confirming there’s no damage, he placed it together in the hand holding the sword.

Sizzle...

The free hand moved agilely, grabbing three solidified blood clots and tossing them aside, then Fu Qian, with one hand holding the sword and the other the doll, struck a pose.

Combined with the bloodstains on his body, he had quite an evil priest style.

...

The daylight indeed brightened.

Though no one led the way this time, it was still too easy for Fu Qian to remember places he had been.

Walking through the streets reclaimed by light, although still devoid of people, it was possible to feel the brewing restlessness within the buildings.

Going for a walk at dawn seems ingrained in human nature.

Besides, with the abrupt end of night, I believe the old lady who left earlier should have little chance to continue her search.

And on this first night, he ultimately didn’t meet the unmentionable ”It”.

Knock knock!

Without deliberately keeping a low profile, Fu Qian returned to the original clinic quite efficiently.

Not surprisingly, the place was tightly shut as expected. Considering the talk along the way of the poor business, he wasn’t too surprised.

Consistent with the politeness shown earlier, Fu Qian raised his hand and knocked on the door.

There was no response, but evident footsteps slowly approached from behind the door, followed by a pair of eyes peering through the rather unclear glass.

”You—this doll is well-made.”

Almost instantly, the gaze fell on Hilary’s doll.
