Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1735: Chapter 1730: Bitter Fruit (24)

No wonder it’s often said that outsiders have an easier time chanting scriptures.

Just by mentioning the outsider’s name, the one inside, who was just moments ago hopeless and indifferent to worldly affairs, actually slowly raised his head—it worked better than an inspector checking the water meter.

Clearly, he shared the same doubt with the old lady, wondering why the outsider had come here.

”What do you want to do?”

But even so, that doesn’t mean he’s willing to open the door to guests.

His rear still seemed glued to the seat, this was the first time he had spoken since the beginning, and indeed every word came with a sigh, like an utterly deflated balloon.

”Take what you don’t want away.”

But Fu Qian, experienced in guidance work for many years, always knew how to inspire efficiently, and answered without hesitation while refraining from pounding on the door.

After a prolonged silence, the door was indeed opened from the inside.

Brother Chuitou appeared genuinely dispirited, his face briefly showing its lingering gloom before he turned and walked back inside.

”Sorry to disturb you.”

Fu Qian didn’t mind, casually closed the door, walked up, and sat across a small round table facing him.

On the round table was an oil lamp with a somewhat blackened shade, you could see that even the fuel inside was running low.

During such a dangerous night, this was undoubtedly a significant oversight. Brother Chuitou seemed barely mindful of such small matters.

Nonetheless, as the only source of light in the room, the oil lamp was striking enough—though still not as striking as the item next to it.

It was indeed a sword.

Arm-length, sharp in design, with even a delicate guard.

Unfortunately, most parts, especially the blade, were covered with a dark, blood-stained grime reminiscent of coal dust.

Even so, occasionally a thin crack still reflected an alluring brilliance under the lamp light.

And from Fu Qian’s perspective, this brilliance was especially dazzling.

Indeed, his previous intuition was correct, even the Divine Beings’ gift was just like this.

Looking at this coating, could it have been excavated from a mine pit?

This demeanor of the chosen one is simply undeniable.

It’s a pity the individual himself seems not to think so.

Brother Chuitou looked at it with eyes clearly perceiving it as some sort of trouble, even a burden.

”Why do you want to take it away?”

Of course, the human heart is so peculiar—when someone openly expresses interest, it doesn’t mean he’s willing to hand it over without resistance.

Due to his robust build, as he lowered his head, it gave him an imposing look.

”Isn’t it obvious? Because you don’t want it.”

Fu Qian, naturally not uncomfortable, simply replied with a placid smile.

”How do you know I don’t want it?”

”So you do want it?”

Your demeanor is not clear enough? Plus, hadn’t I explicitly stated my intent earlier, why’d you open the door if you want it?

...

”How do you know it’s with me?”

Brother Chuitou’s skills were obviously lacking in this regard; a bit of casual guidance had already left him speechless.

And after a brief silent moment, he finally asked about the strangest aspect of this venture.

Poof—

This time Fu Qian, surprisingly, did not immediately respond; instead, his hand reached under his collarbone, searching.

Of course, this refers to the real inside—the area that usually requires a surgery knife to touch.

And in Brother Chuitou’s horrified gaze, Fu Qian demonstrated precise accuracy with his forefinger and middle finger, extracting a congealed lump from that bloody hole within a second, and casually tossing it into an empty cup.

This Curse was clearly highly specific; absent of ”self” support after separation, the Supernatural Realm aura dissipated rapidly.

The blood clots that were previously bubbling quickly dissolved into a thick sludge in the cup—much like flat cola.

Fu Qian even lifted the cup and swirled it, then placed it next to the sword.

”Is that...your blood?”

Brother Chuitou might not have seen cola, but clearly, he gleaned some understanding from this scene.

For instance, realizing that the person before him might not be an ordinary character, and understanding how he knew of the item on the table.

”Why not share how you discovered it?”

Less is more; the meaning was conveyed so accurately that Fu Qian had no intention of embellishing it further, and simply changed the question.

...

”Actually, I don’t know either...”

With his eyes fixed on that dark red pool inside the cup, until it quickly settled, even Brother Chuitou instinctively withdrew slightly from the table.

Meanwhile, under the visitor’s mysterious and unpredictable pressure, he finally began a monologue-like recount.

”After that day, the number of people suddenly dropped significantly...everything was chaotic...”

”I went to work, informed to go home and wait...I had no idea what happened, nor what to do.”

”But as I was about to leave, I suddenly felt something underground waiting for me...”

His gaze fell on the sword.

”I sneaked back, unseen, and started digging continuously...”

”I don’t know how long I dug, seemingly tireless, endlessly switching to new tools...until I unearthed flowing coal, and it was bleeding...”

”Then at that moment, someone shoved me aside, rushed in, and retrieved this from inside—apparently, I wasn’t the only one who felt the call.”

Bleeding coal; no wonder it had such a peculiar appearance.

”And then?”

Fu Qian slightly nodded, intuiting that kind of scenario, casually prompting.

”And then...they started fighting over it, desperate to claim it even if it meant the first to wield it only gently swung and reduced a person to shards, not deterring anyone...”

”If it’s so powerful, why did it end up in your hands?”

As a Transcendent, Fu Qian fully believed that an ordinary person wielding this sword could wield such destructive power.

”The ground collapsed...”

Brother Chuitou had seemingly sunk again into the grim memories, speaking like in a dream.

”Perhaps the sword also sliced through other things besides, though I’m unsure of the exact cause...”

”Ultimately, when I regained awareness, I groped for it in the Darkness and gradually crawled out, to find a long, long time had passed outside...”

”What a fluctuating story...but it seems you haven’t made good use of this gift?”

The other party finally finished speaking, Fu Qian expressed profound appreciation.

”I’d rather refuse this gift!”

Yet under subsequent inquiry, Brother Chuitou’s response was markedly intense, almost shouting.

”I never want to experience that feeling again...everything here is mad, yet they blame it all on that church!”
