Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1720: Chapter 1715: Bitter Fruit (9)

The previous experiences were, in fact, unreal, and each character that appeared had a corresponding puppet.

Although they were not lifelike, the feeling of being stared at by so many eyes was eerier than real people.

And from Doctor Dorian’s description, they were evidently an important tool in a mature treatment plan, used entirely for one’s needs.

Of course, due to the ”memory loss from drinking the potion,” I couldn’t verify this for the time being.

As for why I drank the potion, Dorian actually explained it clearly—

Forgetting some related things is necessary; otherwise, it would affect the treatment’s effectiveness.

When a person realizes they are in a dream, it can adversely affect the dream’s stability and the feedback they receive.

As a professional Master of the Dream Realm, similar experiences had been summarized before.

In fact, such a setup wasn’t even a bad thing for me—even in the warehouse description, it wasn’t mentioned, so I originally didn’t know what had happened before.

It conveniently provided a character setting, saving me the need to find a reason to explain.

But up to this point, there was an undeniable point: the limitations of the warehouse’s task introduction were considerable.

Specifically, it described precisely what I initially experienced, the dimension designed for treatment.

Although it doesn’t necessarily mean anything, it just doesn’t seem like a good sign.

This place seems vaguely to make the warehouse turn a blind eye.

”So, what should ’it’ be like in your guess?”

While silently analyzing, Dorian, on the opposite side, seemed intrigued by Fu Qian’s reaction, directly questioning him based on his statement.

”So even you dare not mention its name?”

Unfortunately, Fu Qian wasn’t in a hurry to answer and just looked over with the same smile.

...

In a special dream meant for treatment, a typical dark and evil symbol.

No matter how terrifying it is inside, anyone already awake with the dimensional advantage should have nothing to fear.

Not to mention that the mastermind of this treatment, Dorian, is not an ordinary human being.

That’s right, not only does he have so many puppets and can implement such a surreal treatment plan, but Dorian himself exudes a distinctly non-human aura, clearly a controller of Extraordinary Power.

Although a special barrier or concealment makes even me unable to confirm his specific ranking for the moment.

Even so, I still asked, including the deliberate mention of the ”it” earlier.

The purpose was simple—to slightly verify Dorian’s level of participation in that dream.

Is he playing a role where he dumps me into a treatment sandbox to wait for results, or is he constantly observing everything happening inside, or even influencing each interaction secretly?

From his reactions, it’s evident that the latter is more probable.

Dorian seems to be well aware of some details in the dream, rather than merely deducing that I stayed long enough in the darkness.

On one hand, it makes him more like a Puppet Master, with numerous characters being mere marionettes.

On the other hand, and most importantly, this means that the opponent of my all-along conspiracy theory is him himself, with every move being watched.

In this context, the significance of this conversation is clearly more than just a summary of failed treatment; his vigilance should be top-notch.

Because of this, I decisively maxed out my aggressiveness.

...

”Is it possible that ’it’ never had a name in the first place?”

Holding a long, icicle-like sharp spike, Dorian bypassed the patient bed and floated forward effortlessly.

Facing Fu Qian’s mockery, his facial expression didn’t change much, merely scanning up and down before responding with a sneering smile.

”No name, or doesn’t exist at all?”

Unfortunately, even if the spike’s sinister nature could already be called a weapon.

Yet Fu Qian, being pointed at from afar, only grew more aggressive.

...

Having no name is indeed a plausible explanation.

Even considering the therapeutic experience, there’s no way to fundamentally refute it.

Brother Dorian is indeed bold enough to open a psychological clinic.

Unfortunately, he might know everything that happened before, but the qualification as a Master of the Dream Realm still surpasses his understanding.

Not to mention that I also have rich practical experience.

Yes, the decision to wait in the darkness earlier ultimately met the conditions and allowed escape, which was undoubtedly the rich fruit of persisting in a conspiracy theory.

But that elusive, gradually approaching voice never reached me, and Fu Qian’s understanding was not simply about being lucky.

Although being the hunted, it was clearly still my own dream as the main subject in that scenario.

And Dorian utilized the puppet properties to insert them into the dream, making them special subject effects like Hilary.

Very reasonable, though the methods are a bit crude compared to my mastery, it’s been quite ingenious.

But while praises are due, attempting to cheat in front of a professional is not habit to cultivate.

Guiding through insinuations to get the dream main subject to realize more erroneous ”truths” can effectively help enhance control over their dream.

This valuable experience gained from trying to escape the Nightmare Corridor, with Brother Tyler’s cooperation, made Fu Qian doubtful of whether ”it” really existed upon realizing the possibility of a conspiracy theory.

The subsequent response was that, while waiting in the darkness just now, no matter how well the atmosphere was crafted, Fu Qian always believed only in what he saw.

None of that useless stuff, come in front of me if you dare.

Unfortunately, that ”it” never satisfied this curiosity.

And upon waking, with only five puppets surrounding me, the evil embodiment supposedly stronger than everyone else wasn’t manifested, which is a kind of proof.

Now it’s almost certain that ”it” is actually the last insurance preventing escape from the dream.

As long as I, under guided insinuations, believed in ”its” existence, Dorian’s control would increase, coupled with my cooperation as the dream subject, there’s a significant chance ”it” would manifest.

It would stand before me, driving me into the chapel.

Being fearless doesn’t necessarily avoid that; even if I’m not afraid, dealing with it might be quite a hassle, prematurely exposing more techniques.

As for now?

”Who are you really?”

Under continued pressure, Dorian the Healer’s usual composure finally vanished, becoming completely serious.

”Outsider.”

Fu Qian continued to respond fluently.
