Facing an Ancient God for a Year

Chapter 1701: Chapter 1696: Melia Flower Ball

”Melia Flower Ball, that’s its name.”

Noticing Fu Qian’s actions, Yuan Shan seemingly had no intention of denying it and even pushed the blood-stained sphere forward.

”My teacher gave it to me before I came back, not expecting it to be used on the first day.”

With a long sigh, Yuan Shan looked worldly and unpredictable.

”I believe you saw earlier, it’s not easy to control and its properties are dangerous.”

”In an unbound state, the presence of divine targets around it greatly stimulates the ball’s activity, transforming it into a predator-like entity.”

”Of course, it doesn’t actually consume; it relishes in the process of destruction.”

Yuan Shan brushed her fingertips across the sharp petal-blades, still somewhat disturbed by the recent violent experience.

”I noticed.”

Feeling the emotion, Fu Qian recalled the feather that had caused him to lose some SAN Points.

From the scene when ”suffocate” hit Lord Prison Angel later, the feather’s illusion clearly represented an attack on the body, so the almost solid state should be akin to splattering blood.

Yet the ”flower ball” remained uninterested in it, allowing the feather to fall into his hands.

”And if it’s unbound for more than fifteen minutes without causing any harm to divine targets, the user will face a backlash, becoming a hunting target.”

At this point, Yuan Shan continued the explanation, even pointing to the wound on her hand.

”Using your own blood to feed it in between won’t change this, but—”

Staring directly at Fu Qian, the topic clearly reached its crux.

”If during this time, a target endures its ravages continuously, it’s said that it can stimulate inner potential, granting unforeseen benefits.”

...

It still sounded like a tale of suffering no matter how you heard it.

Fu Qian, always skilled at extracting key points, instantly removed all embellishments to summarize—getting whipped for fifteen minutes straight might bring uncertain benefits.

No wonder the emphasis on process and pain earlier.

For a moment, Fu Qian looked at the sharp, blood-stained petal-like blade, which even plucked feathers from an Angel, with furrowed brows.

”You’re not planning to take this opportunity to get revenge, are you? And who is Melia?”

Enduring the continuous beating of this sadistic transcendent item for fifteen minutes without dodging.

It’s fortunate it was him—had Yuan Shan made this suggestion to someone else, they might already be contemplating how to rebel.

Even being a flesh and blood specialist, experiencing such a whipping, imagining the blooming scene was hard to comprehend.

”What do you mean by revenge? Is my credibility really so lacking?”

Chief Yuan seemed unable to bear this grievance, her tone slightly exasperated.

”About Melia, I’m afraid I asked the same question, but the teacher told me not to ask...”

”Just kidding, I’ve always admired Mr. Fang’s capacity for inclusiveness.”

Seeing the leader a bit agitated, Fu Qian chuckled, switching expressions in seconds.

”In that case, I’ll follow the old man’s suggestion, but concerning the unprecedented benefits... are there any general reference points?”

In a genial tone, Fu Qian seemed genuinely evaluating.

”Sorry, there aren’t any.”

Unfortunately, Yuan Shan’s stiff rejection was his only response.

...

”This item has been with the teacher for a long time, but he’s never found a suitable user.”

Before Fu Qian could respond, Yuan Shan quickly explained in the same tone.

”Its power is too great—even High-level Extraordinaries might not be able to withstand it, and if it’s less than fifteen minutes, there will be no effect. This is why I hesitated earlier...”

”If it wasn’t because your ability type was too fitting, I wouldn’t have suggested it.”

Too fitting ability type? You could just say it’s perfect for enduring strikes.

Listening to Chief Yuan’s words, even among the talented Night Watchmen, no one had ever managed to stimulate ”inner potential” through this?

Fu Qian deeply felt Chief’s appreciation.

”But you don’t have to decide right away; the current situation isn’t safe yet. It’s inappropriate to risk major forces; this suggestion remains valid, so you can contact me after careful consideration.”

While he mused over this, Yuan Shan was already summarizing.

”No need, let’s start now.”

However, Fu Qian immediately interrupted.

”...Are you sure?”

Yuan Shan was taken aback this time.

Though she had repeatedly witnessed this person’s peculiar non-human demeanor, was this a bit too decisive?

”I’m sure.”

”But the situation is still somewhat dangerous...”

”When do you think it’ll be safer?”

...

A casual retort left Yuan Shan momentarily speechless.

Postponing it to avoid action before everyone left was typical reasoning.

But pondering carefully about the stealth that’s hard to detect, it might not be safer later, even randomly choosing a time after the initial clash when the opponent is busy dealing with meteors.

”Alright, here then?”

With this thought, Yuan Shan surprisingly agreed readily.

”As long as you’re not worried about dirtying the floor.”

”Rest assured, I won’t.”

Receiving a confirmed answer, Yuan Shan directly grabbed the ”flower ball,” stepping forward from behind the desk.

Simultaneously, a black curtain quickly formed, enveloping them both within.

Chief Yuan’s ability was indeed convenient.

Amidst admiration, Fu Qian glanced at his clothes, confirming they were already tattered from the earlier Physical Dark Dragon Wave, sighing as he gave up on removing them.

”If it becomes unbearable, make sure you tell me immediately. Once it starts, stopping will take some effort.”

By then, the flower ball opposite was slowly unfolding, becoming increasingly active as it extended, just like before.

After a final reminder, without waiting for Fu Qian to acknowledge, Chief Yuan took a deep breath, holding the soft whip.

Slap!

Perhaps because the target was rightfully standing before her and had signed an informed consent agreement, Chief Yuan and the flower ball seemed more in tune than before; the whip strike was executed with remarkable grace.

The effect was also very evident.

Not only was the sound crisp, but it also cut deep.

Fu Qian’s flesh-and-blood-enhanced body was immediately torn open, the sharp petal-blades easily slicing through skin, ripping flesh.

Thanks to its unique design, the wound displayed particular patterns, adding a sculptural beauty to the flesh.

Of course, these were mere appearances; Fu Qian admired it for just a moment before focusing inwardly.

Amidst the intense pain, a sense of impulse began to emerge—his body was involuntarily eager to transform into the Mythical Form, becoming the Abandonment King.
