Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 144: The Rope-Tying Method, Alone with Robin

As the rope descended, Lin Yu saw a menu fly into his hand.

On it were crudely drawn cartoon sketches of four different creatures...

Looking at the drawings and descriptions on the menu, Lin Yu couldnʼt help but comment.

”This is insane... Is this how you introduce ingredients?”

All four creatures were drawn in an extremely cute style.

Their names sounded like characters from some childrenʼs cartoon.

As for the written descriptions, they read more like preschool textbooks.

”Hello everyone! Iʼm Cute Star! Though I look like a starfish, donʼt get me wrong—Iʼm much tastier and bigger! But catching me isnʼt easy—Iʼm quite the fast swimmer!”

”Iʼm Bubble Snail, who likes floating around leisurely in my bubble—with both my bubble and shell for protection, catching me wonʼt be simple!”

”My nameʼs Saucer Shrimp. Though Iʼm not fast and lack a hard shell, we always move in groups—one shrimp in trouble means a hundred come to help! To catch me, your net better be strong enough!”
”Hi, Iʼm Transparent Fish... You canʼt see me, you canʼt see me, you canʼt see me...”

Lin Yu frowned as he finished reading all the creature descriptions.

Was this supposed to evoke childhood nostalgia and sympathy to spare these creatures?

”Forget it, these are probably four easier targets to handle.”

”The menu did point out what to watch for with each... Oneʼs fast, one has protection, one moves in groups... and oneʼs hard to spot.”

”Anyway... letʼs focus on these four first!”

Lin Yu folded the menu and put it away, then looked at the rope hanging before him.

Each person had one in front of them, seemingly identical to the ropes suspending their chairs.

Across the table, Fish had also finished reading the ”menuʼs” ingredient descriptions, wearing an equally displeased and disgusted expression.

”What absolute nonsense.”

Fish commented before grabbing the rope before her.

She stood from her chair, looped it around her left wrist and tied a sailorʼs knot, then...

Fish seemed to successfully connect with the rope, taking a step back...

”Whoosh—!”

Her figure vanished from the seat, disappearing into the endless dark clouds.

Watching Fishʼs actions, Li Hua and Phantom sighed simultaneously.

”As expected of a Marauder...”

”Beijing colleagues warned us—famous for having no brains.”

These two Haicheng representatives—one orderly, one chaotic—simultaneously tied their ropes around their waists with tight knots.

Clearly, compared to Fishʼs wrist method, theirs offered better stability without restricting a hand.

However, Mosin-Nagant and Radish, being older, demonstrated more professional approaches.

Mosin-Nagant threaded the rope under his arms twice, weaving it through various points to create a harness that secured his body.

Old man Radish lifted his shirt to wrap the rope around his torso several times, tying it tight before pouring what looked like glue over it—soon the rope fused firmly with his skin.

The four departed one after another.

Soon only Robin and Lin Yu remained in the venue.

Lin Yu sat gripping the rope, turning to look at Robin.

Robin met his gaze.

An inexplicable sense of danger surfaced in Lin Yuʼs mind.

Looking at the Painter before him, he confirmed once more:

This girl was powerful, dangerous...

Absolutely on par with the Fluoxetine he was currently impersonating.

Moreover, she seemed genuinely interested in and knowledgeable about Fluoxetine.

Which was precisely why Lin Yu hadnʼt left yet.

Because after Ka finished speaking, heʼd realized...

This segment might be one of his few chances to be alone with Robin within the dungeon.

Though he might be exposed...

No risk, no reward!

Lin Yuʼs initial goal was never flawless impersonation—he just wanted more information about Fluoxetine!

He wouldnʼt let caution make him miss this golden opportunity to gather intel about Fluoxetine and the Psychological Society.

Besides...

Lin Yu had full confidence in his acting skills.

Even alone with Robin who likely knew Fluoxetine well and was extremely perceptive.

A Painterʼs abilities made them even harder to deceive than a Detective among Information Types.

Her earlier use of ”sketches” to create objects and shapes belonged to advanced Painter abilities.

The basic Painter ability was Information Type.

”Draw an item with over 70% similarity to learn its basic information. 24-hour cooldown.”

This was widely considered the strongest intelligence-gathering profession... Hence even if rare, major organizations would hire at least one Painter.

Whenever rival organizations obtained powerful new items, theyʼd immediately send someone to secretly photograph it for their Painter to sketch.

Moreover, a Painterʼs ability wasnʼt limited to game items—they could analyze non-item objects too.

Thus if Robin had interacted enough with Fluoxetine, she likely knew most of his item usages.

Yet...

Lin Yu remained completely confident about not being exposed.

In fact, precisely because of Robinʼs Painter abilities, his confidence grew stronger!

Seeing ”Fluoxetine” watching her with interest, Robin couldnʼt resist speaking first.

”About that Beretta earlier...”

”Whereʼd you get that prank prop?”

Lin Yu smiled.

Just as predicted—starting with the items.

Then... there were absolutely no issues.

Because Robin had already provided the answer herself.

”Scared you, didnʼt I?” Lin Yu produced the Counterfeit Beretta M9 again, twirling it, ”Pity it didnʼt fully shock you.”

”Someone as strong and promising as you shouldnʼt die so early in such an interesting dungeon... So I just wanted to scare you a bit.”

”I couldnʼt bear to kill you!”

Lin Yu said with a radiant smile.

”But thanks... recognizing it as a fake means you remember my items perfectly.”

”Of course, considering Gunflower is practically your signature move,” Robin rubbed her temples, ”How could I forget nearly dying to that...”

”So stop lying, bastard—if you really couldnʼt bear to kill me, you wouldnʼt have shot me last time.”

”That was then, this is now,” Lin Yu raised a finger, ”I told you—this dungeonʼs fascinating! Itʼs truly watched over by deities!”

His tone was pious and certain.

Robin studied Lin Yu, sighing after a long silence.

”Same as always, completely unchanged.”

”So you deliberately adjusted your dungeon schedule, specifically choosing Tuesday to attend this banquet?”
