Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 133: New Dungeon, Trembling Heights!

Tuesday night.

After several days of brewing, just as Lin Yu had anticipated...

His various fake identities had gradually sparked discussions among the player community.

Especially ʼMay Mayʼ.

Upon opening the forum, posts about ʼMay Mayʼ could be directly found among the relatively high-traffic recent discussions.

”Who exactly is this new ʼDoctorʼ player in Zheng City who made the ʼMaraudersʼ suffer heavy losses?”

To distinguish him from a somewhat famous ʼAssassinʼ in ʼOrderʼ, forum players affectionately nicknamed Lin Yu ”Doctor May”.

”Brothers, I have inside info from ʼOrderʼ—this guy came to Zheng City from another province specifically to target Heavenly Artisan and claim the bounty!”

”So reckless! I heard Heavenly Artisan was severely injured by him! The ʼMaraudersʼ lost several experts!”

”Thatʼs just a rumor. Iʼm from ʼCentral Plainsʼ in Zheng City—basically all Zheng City players know Heavenly Artisan escaped.”
”Right, because of this, ʼMaraudersʼ and ʼOrderʼ in Zheng City almost went to full-scale war.”

”Upstairs, Iʼm not talking about Zheng City. Later, Heavenly Artisan went to Jiangcheng for revenge and apparently got wrecked!”

”Yeah, heʼs from Jiangcheng. He teamed up with local organizations and wiped out all the ʼMaraudersʼ from Zheng City.”

”This madman... I wonder which organization heʼll join eventually?”

”Most likely ʼJiangʼan Hallʼ—hasnʼt he already cooperated with them?”

”With how unorthodox he is, he might join one of those illegal organizations.”

”Maybe heʼs already in one!”

”Hey, stop talking nonsense! May is my good buddy. He hasnʼt joined any org yet, but heʼs very interested in ʼOrderʼ. I was there when he took down Heavenly Artisan—later, ʼOrderʼ members who arrived spoke highly of him. Do you understand the weight of that? After a few more dungeons, he could probably join ʼOrderʼ directly!”

”Furbollo at it again with his know-it-all act.”

”Furbollo, youʼre buddy-buddy with him again? Such a clout-chaser!”

”F*ck you all, jealous of my connection with him? I was the one who helped him track down Heavenly Artisanʼs location!”

”Admin Warning: User ʼFurbolloʼ has used inappropriate language. 10 reputation points deducted, 1 point penalty!”

The discussion continued, with everyone speculating which organization this berserk ʼDoctorʼ would join.

Amid the chaos, they also took the opportunity to insult a certain ʼDetectiveʼ who came to lecture everyone.

Lin Yu sighed, feeling Furbollo didnʼt deserve this.

After all, Furbollo was telling the truth.

”Still, this guyʼs an idiot. Couldnʼt he just screenshot our private chat as proof?”

Heʼd just privately messaged him a few days ago to investigate ʼPsychological Societyʼ members.

Even if worried about exposing that, he couldʼve blurred sensitive parts.

Lin Yu couldnʼt help but lament.

Though Fu Luo was extremely sharp and perceptive in certain aspects...

Most of the time, he was a complete moron.

However, thanks to Fu Luo, the postʼs popularity soared higher.

Those sparse strands of ʼbeliefʼ from distant sources continuously gathered, ultimately allowing Lin Yu to confirm his hypothesis.

He could now indeed freely use the abilities of the ʼMay Mayʼ identity.

Not just the professional skills of a ʼDoctorʼ—by using [Counterfeit] to transform into a [Syringe], he could even access advanced professional abilities.

It was foreseeable... as his various identities grew more renowned, the number of abilities he could use would likely increase.

Regarding this, Lin Yu couldnʼt help but remark:

”How is this balanced?”

He turned off his phone—it was almost midnight.

Lin Yu stood up, tightening his hoodie as the night wind seeped through, bringing a slight chill.

Summer was approaching in Jiangcheng, and even nights werenʼt too cold on clear days.

The main reason Lin Yu felt cold now was...

He stood atop one of Jiangchengʼs tallest buildings.

”Shengjiang Tower”—completed five years ago, reaching 400 meters in height—was a multifunctional office building housing numerous companies.

Unlike this yearʼs trend of oddly shaped skyscrapers, Shengjiang Tower had a simple, square design with glass curtain walls, giving it an imposing presence.

Its top-floor rooftop featured a public garden, observation deck, and helipad.

Of course, none of these were open at midnight.

But money talks.

By booking an expensive suite at the towerʼs luxury hotel, Lin Yu obtained an elevator card granting direct rooftop access.

After all, the floor below the rooftop housed the hotelʼs 24-hour restaurant and bar.

Once at the bar, finding the emergency stairwell to the rooftop and unlocking the fire exit door wasnʼt difficult.

Lin Yu hadnʼt come here at midnight for fun, sightseeing, or thrills.

He approached the rooftop edge, effortlessly vaulting over the chest-high railing.

Outside was a sturdy metal mesh structure wide enough to stand on—Lin Yu looked down.

The 400-meter drop made the ground nearly invisible, only revealing Jiangchengʼs brightly lit streets bustling with traffic below.

Lin Yu took a deep breath.

”This does make me curious... how exactly will the ʼDeath Gameʼ keep me ʼsafe and soundʼ...”

He murmured, staring at the vivid blood-red text before him:

『Less than 24 hours remain until the latest possible start time for the next game!』

『Before midnight tonight, between 11:50 PM and 12:00 AM, perform free-fall from a height exceeding 100 meters above ground to enter the game.』

The height beneath his feet, the cold wind against his skin, and the trembling metal grid all sent shivers through Lin Yu.

Even after ”dying” many times, he still felt faint traces of fear.

The clock struck 11:59—

Lin Yu stepped forward, spreading his arms as he plummeted toward the ground below.

During the fall, Lin Yu felt his adrenaline surge.

The roaring wind, the approaching ground, and the weightlessness made him reflect:

”This is definitely the most thrilling near-death experience yet.”

He swept his hands across his face—[False Face] activated, rapidly altering his features and physique.

Just as Lin Yu was about to hit the ground—

【Entering game—】

【Game Title: Banquet in the Skies】

【Clear Condition: Survive until the banquet concludes.】

【Current game players: 7】

”Whoosh—”

Everything went black, and the ground that shouldʼve shattered his body vanished.

In its place appeared even greater heights!
