Death Game: Starting as a Trickster, Pretending to Be a God

Chapter 141: Loopholes in the Rules

Although Ka’s process of slaughtering the snails and the geese looked casual and effortless...

But knowing that one of them was about to be faced next, none of the players present dared to underestimate those geese and snails!

Ka’s actions, on the contrary, precisely proved how powerful this octopus was.

After killing eight animals, Ka’s eight tentacles simultaneously began to prepare the meals.

He cut open the goose’s abdomen to take out the liver, scooped the snail meat out of the shell...

Then, he took out various seasonings from the water and started frying that thick liver as big as a basketball and the fist-sized snail on the iron plate.

Li Hua’s analysis was indeed correct: goose liver was substantial in weight, and the snail meat retained a bit of poison.

However, that was just an added challenge for this test.

The real difficulty...

Was the remaining one that was still alive!
While Ka was frying the goose liver and snail...

A tall transparent partition suddenly descended from above, landing on both sides of each personʼs body and extending to the center of the table.

The partition evenly divided the round table into seven zones.

And the purpose of this...

Was, of course, to prevent the animals in front of each person from running into other zones.

Each zone was assigned a box containing a snail and a cage holding a goose.

The boxes and cages in front of Lin Yu were empty.

His snail and goose were already being prepared.

So, he leisurely looked at the boxes and cages in front of the others.

Sure enough...

After Ka started cooking, the other living animal was released!

Fish, Phantom, and Mosin-Nagant had chosen the goose liver, so they had to face the pitch-black, night-valley poisonous snail.

Li Hua, Radish, and Robin had chosen the snail, so they had to face the wild giant goose.

The wild giant goose was very fast.

Almost the instant the cage door opened, it charged out, rushing toward the player in front of it.

What surprised Lin Yu was...

The first to deal with this trouble was Radish, the ‘Farmer’!

This simple-looking middle-aged man who resembled a countryside farmer didn’t hesitate at all and directly pulled out a yellow talisman paper from his pocket and tore it open.

Then, a fierce bolt of lightning, as thick as a forearm, blasted out, directly halting the charging, ferocious goose and scorching its entire body black!

Lin Yu could even smell a strong roasted aroma through the partition.

Radish breathed a sigh of relief, his face showing a slight pained expression.

“Phew...”

Lin Yu touched his chin, roughly understanding the situation.

“Knowing his front-line combat ability was weak, he used some precious consumable item, huh?”

“Like some kind of lightning talisman... probably very expensive, and he likely doesn’t have many of those on him... or maybe it’s priceless, a gift from someone.”

Although Radish dealt with it quickly, Lin Yu knew he was actually the most dangerous.

Because it was precisely Radish’s confidence in not handling the goose that made him not hesitate to use a trump card-level attack.

The ‘Farmer’ class ability allowed him to receive a “food” supply once a day, randomly obtaining some kind of food, and if plants were involved, he could consume them to reset a skill cooldown.

This was indeed a logistics support role with relatively weak front-line combat power, making it more advantageous in ‘Survival’ dungeon types.

The player ‘Radish’ was also famously weak in combat. As one of the founders of the Player Mutual Aid Association, he had a good reputation on the forum and was known as a rare “nice guy” among the player community.

Moreover, Radish always acted alongside his subordinates and various allies when participating in dungeons.

For some unknown reason, this time he chose to participate in the dungeon alone.

But because of this...

Lin Yu was even more wary of underestimating these renowned experts!

Even these well-known players who were not good at direct combat could pull out a lightning talisman that could char a goose as tall as a person to a crisp when cornered!

If you didn’t guard against being hit by that lightning...

You would definitely be dead meat!

“These veteran players’ foundations really are not to be underestimated!”

At this moment, Li Hua and Robin also started to entangle with the wild giant goose in front of them.

Li Hua pulled out a twenty-sided die from his pocket, constantly rolling it and tossing it onto the table.

Each time Li Hua rolled the die, some low-probability event would occur, severely hindering the goose’s advance.

For example, it would slip suddenly and fall flat on the table.

Or its left foot would trip over the right foot, causing another fall.

Sometimes it would suddenly clutch its wing in pain, as if having a cramp.

After each fall, it would be dizzy and bump into the hard transparent partition, wasting more time.

Of course, Li Hua himself was not idle during this process;he also pulled out a deck of playing cards and some chips, presumably plotting and preparing something.

On the other side, Robin’s maneuvers also made Lin Yu sigh in admiration.

She kept sketching various geometric shapes, and then those shapes would jump out and stack on the table, blocking the goose’s path!

The wild giant goose in front of Robin kept ramming its head and biting at those geometric shapes, but its speed was barely faster than the snail’s.

Of course, although choosing the snail meant slow movement, it didn’t mean the other three were having an easy time.

Whether it was Phantom the ‘Magician’ or Fish and Mosin-Nagant,

They all seemed helpless against the snail slowly crawling toward them!

No matter the attack—whether Mosin-Nagant’s arrows, Fish’s flintlock gunshots,

Or Phantom’s flames released from his hat—

They were somewhat ineffective against the snail!

All attacks hitting the snail only caused it to retreat into its black shell, remaining completely unharmed!

Seeing this, Lin Yu both admired the diverse skills of these expert players.

At the same time, Lin Yu was very relieved...

Luckily, he had been clever enough to take a shortcut on this stage.

Otherwise, if he had to fight either the goose or the snail head-on, Lin Yu really wouldn’t be confident in directly taking down these two magical creatures.

Even if he barely managed to...

His disheveled appearance afterward might raise suspicions among others!

Of course, Lin Yu did not think this showed he was smarter than these veteran players.

Rather than saying Lin Yu was especially clever to see through the octopus Ka’s trap...

It was more that his experiences in the three dungeons so far had all come with NPC and “rule” traps and manipulations.

Especially the second dungeon involving the gods—that was the one with the most traps!

So, Lin Yu’s habitual way of thinking and problem-solving was different from most players.

Whenever any rules or instructions were placed before him, he would doubt them repeatedly.

Searching for textual traps and hints within.

And through the reactions of these veteran players, Lin Yu could even deduce one thing.

“It seems dungeons with traps deliberately hidden in the rules... really are a tiny minority.”
