We Agreed On Experiencing Life, So Why Did You Immortals Become Real?

Chapter 347: Why Didnʼt You Surrender?

Below Yanmen Pass.

Xiao Mo killed from dawn until the sun hung high.

Xiao Mo could no longer remember exactly how many people he had killed.

Couldnʼt remember exactly how many times he had swung his long spear.

Couldnʼt remember how many people had died beside him but Xiao Mo knew he couldnʼt retreat.

The only thing he could do was charge forward and kill!

Just when Xiao Mo once again lifted a Zhei Kingdom soldier off his horse with one spear thrust, Xiao Mo saw a Northern Frontier soldier get cut down to the ground.

A blade came chopping down from the front again. However, Xiao Moʼs long spear had already pierced through the enemy soldierʼs chest.

”Can you still stand up?” Xiao Mo kicked the enemy corpse away and asked him.

”I-I still can!” The soldier named Chen Dong climbed up. His eyes were bloodshot, his body covered in filthy blood, killing intent overflowing. He had clearly killed until his eyes turned red but when Chen Dong tried to pick up the long blade beside him, his right hand, which had been chopping for two and a half hours and was now somewhat trembling, failed to grip the blade.
The long blade fell to the ground.

After Xiao Mo killed several Zhei soldiers approaching him with a spear qi strike, he dismounted, picked up the long blade, and placed it in Chen Dongʼs palm.

Xiao Mo didnʼt say a word. He mounted his horse again and continued killing toward the front.

Watching General Xiaoʼs back continuously charging forward in battle, Chen Dong came back to his senses, immediately tore off his clothes, tightly bound the long blade and his own palm together, and followed the General to kill forward!

Past noon, Xiao Mo raised his head and glanced at the scorching sun hanging in the sky.

In another half hour, it would have been a full thirty days since he began defending Yanmen Pass but the Northern Frontier armyʼs main force still hadnʼt arrived.

Moreover, as Northern Frontier army soldiers fell one after another into pools of blood, the advantage the Northern Frontier army had charged out was already being erased, even continuously being pushed back.

At this time, the Zhei Kingdom army was less than three li from Yanmen Pass.

Of the five thousand Snow-Treading Dragon Cavalry who had charged out with Xiao Mo, only five hundred remained.

As for how many infantry soldiers were still alive on the battlefield, Xiao Mo could no longer estimate, and because they were too scattered, Xiao Mo couldnʼt assemble them either.

Xiao Mo saw through Guo Xinʼs formation and knew he was attempting to surround him and the five hundred Snow-Treading Dragon Cavalry beside him again but now, even if he saw through the opponentʼs arrangement, he couldnʼt charge out like before because not far behind Xiao Mo was Yanmen Pass.

Ahead was the surging army.

He had nowhere left to retreat.

”General, let us escort you to break through the encirclement!” Zhao Guang rode his Snow-Treading Horse and said in a deep voice beside Xiao Mo.

”Brother Mo, you cannot die. With your talent, you will certainly be able to avenge us in the future!” Xiao Gui also urged but Xiao Mo only shook his head and said calmly, ”Canʼt break through, and wonʼt go out either.”

”...” Hearing the General calmly state the facts, everyoneʼs hearts sank.

Yes.

Ahead was the Zhei Kingdomʼs several hundred thousand troops.

Behind them, though the southern territoryʼs armies were locked in confrontation and battle with the Northern Frontier army, too preoccupied to attack the city, they still surrounded them heavily. To kill out from the south gate would be equally extremely difficult.

Their wanting to escort General Xiao out was merely wanting to fulfill their last extravagant wish before death...

”All men are mortal. Now the hour of wei has arrived, thirty days have been defended. At least, we have not failed Qin Kingdom, have not failed the Northern Frontier fathers and elders. These days, fighting enemies in formation with you all has been this Xiaoʼs greatest honor in this life!”

”General...” Zhao Guang gripped the reins tightly, wanting to speak but stopping.

”Xiao Mo, itʼs over.”

Guo Xin rode his horse before the military formation, staring at Xiao Mo.

”Xiao Mo, I have to admit, you truly have the talent of a commander and general, living up to your reputation. Iʼll give you one last chance. Surrender to me, become my deputy general. When we counterattack Qin Kingdom then, you can still establish merit and achievements, be enfeoffed as a lord and minister! Isnʼt that better than dying here?”

”General Guo is truly generous, but no need for that.”

Xiao Mo smiled, turned his back to the five hundred cavalry, and shouted loudly, ”Who is willing to face death with me!”

Wiping the tears from the corners of his eyes, Zhao Guang raised his long spear high, ”I am willing to face death with the General!”

”I am willing to face death with the General!”

”I am willing to face death with the General!”

”I am willing to face death with the General!”

Five hundred cavalry shouted in unison again and again, earth-shaking and heaven-moving, causing the Zhei Kingdom warhorses to involuntarily retreat and the soldiersʼ hearts to turn cold.

”Where are the Snow-Treading Dragon Cavalry!” Xiao Mo gripped his long spear tightly.

Five hundred cavalry, ”We are all here!”

”Follow me to charge and kill!”

”Kill!”

Xiao Mo spurred his horse forward. The five hundred Snow-Treading Dragon Cavalry also charged.

”If thatʼs the case, then go die!” Guo Xinʼs eyes narrowed, ”Kill them!”

With Guo Xinʼs command, the Zhei Kingdom army surged toward Xiao Mo and his men like a tide, wanting to completely devour them.

Standing on the city walls, Lian Li watched all this. Without realizing it, the long spear was already gripped in her hand.

Just as the two armies were about to clash and Lian Li was about to step down from the city, her feet felt the city walls trembling.

The next moment, tens of thousands of Snow-Treading Dragon Cavalry charged out from Yanmen Passʼs north gate, killing into the battlefield.

”Guo Xin, you wretch, your grandfather is here!”

One-eyed General Huang directly killed into the enemy formation. With one sweep of his long blade, dozens of soldiers were flung into the air.

”Archers! Release arrows!”

Atop the city walls, with Fang Weimingʼs command, arrow after arrow inscribed with runes shot toward the Zhei Kingdom armyʼs central and rear forces. Explosion sounds continuously came from the Zhei army.

”Nephew, you rest for now. Leave the rest of the battle to your Uncle Zhang!”

Dark-faced Zhang Kui, holding his zhang-eight serpent spear, jumped directly from the city walls, charging toward the Zhei Kingdom military formation like a fierce beast.

Immediately after, a sharp cry rang out in the sky.

After the southern territoryʼs flight restriction formation shattered, a Vermillion Bird streaked across the firmament. Wherever it passed was true fire, as if wanting to ignite the horizon. The scorching sun hanging in the sky seemed less blazing than this Vermillion Bird.

The Vermillion Bird opened its mouth and spat, flames spread across the fields, burning toward the Zhei Kingdom army.

”How dare your Vermillion Bird clan interfere in human clan warfare!” Guo Xin shouted at the Vermillion Bird but the Vermillion Bird just rolled its eyes, not acknowledging him at all.

After circling once in the air, the Vermillion Bird then flew down to the ground, continuing to spit fire forward.

At the same time, a young girl wearing a light pink long dress jumped down from the Vermillion Birdʼs back and ran toward Xiao Mo.

Seeing the young girl lifting her skirt and running toward him, Xiao Moʼs expression froze.

When the young girl ran close, Xiao Mo finally reacted, dismounted, and looked at the young girl in surprise, ”Siyao, how did you—”

The five words [how did you come] hadnʼt been spoken yet.

The young girl had already rushed forward, tightly hugging Xiao Mo.

Tears from the corners of the young girlʼs eyes slid down her cheeks, dripping onto Xiao Moʼs armor, mixing with mud and filthy blood as they slowly fell to the ground.

”Fool!”

”Fool!”

”Fool!”

The young girlʼs tears fell like rain. While crying, she pounded on Xiao Moʼs chest.

”Why are you so stubborn?

Do you know you could have died?

Why didnʼt you surrender?”
