We Agreed On Experiencing Life, So Why Did You Immortals Become Real?

Chapter 302: Year After Year, Peace Every Year

After falling down a few times in the snow, Xiao Mo thought that with his robust physique, nothing would happen.

Moreover, after returning to the room, his mother had given him a hot bath and changed him into fresh clothes but unexpectedly, early the next morning, when Xiao Mo woke up, he discovered he had developed a fever after all.

Lying on the bed, Xiao Mo hadnʼt expected that this newly born bodyʼs first fever would be so uncomfortable. His entire being felt light and floaty.

”Moʼer, whatʼs wrong?”

Zhou Ruoxi saw her childʼs cheeks were flushed red and he was continuously breathing hot air. Startled, she quickly touched Xiao Moʼs forehead.

With one touch, she felt it was burning hot.

”Cuicui, Moʼer has a fever. Quickly call the physician over!” Zhou Ruoxi was extremely nervous and immediately shouted to Cuicui.

”Ah? Young Master has a fever?” Cuicui was equally startled. ”Madam, donʼt worry. This servant will go call the physician right away!”

After speaking, Cuicui quickly ran out.

”What should I do... what should I do...”
After Cuicui left, Zhou Ruoxi anxiously paced back and forth but very soon, Zhou Ruoxi calmed down. She quickly fetched a basin of warm water, dampened a face cloth, and wiped the childʼs body.

As time passed minute by minute and the physician still hadnʼt arrived, Zhou Ruoxi grew extremely anxious.

She had never before felt that time could pass so slowly.

Two incense sticksʼ worth of time passed, and the physician finally arrived.

”Madam, thereʼs no need to be nervous. The young master has cold qi entering his body. This old one will prescribe a medicine. Drink it three times daily and heʼll be fine.”

After examining Xiao Mo, the physician said to Zhou Ruoxi.

”Thank you for your trouble, Physician.”

Zhou Ruoxi breathed a sigh of relief and took out a piece of broken silver from her sleeve, giving an additional tip.

After the physician accepted it, he quickly bowed in thanks.

Before long, while in a daze, Xiao Mo felt some liquid flowing into his mouth. It was extremely bitter. Xiao Mo instinctively wanted to spit it out, but in the end he held back and swallowed it down into his stomach.

That evening, Xiao Mo broke out in a heavy sweat and felt much more comfortable.

”Moʼer will be fine. Very soon Moʼer will get better. Mother will always protect Moʼer.”

In his hazy state, Xiao Mo heard his motherʼs voice, but very soon fell back into a drowsy sleep.

The next morning, when Xiao Mo woke up, he felt relaxed all over. The fever must have broken.

”Moʼer, youʼre awake.”

Just as he came to his senses, Xiao Mo heard his motherʼs voice.

”Mother.”

Xiao Mo called out in a childish voice.

Looking at his motherʼs haggard face and thick dark circles under her eyes, her hair not even properly arranged.

Xiao Mo knew that since he had developed a fever, his mother certainly hadnʼt closed her eyes once.

”Yes, yes. Mother is here.”

Zhou Ruoxi picked up Xiao Mo and gently nuzzled his cheek.

That same day, Xiao Mo could get down on the ground and walk with his ”pitter-patter” steps again.

One could only say this new body was quite useful. He fell ill quickly but recovered quickly too.

And it was on the second day after Xiao Moʼs fever that the second young master of the Xiao Manorʼs birthday arrived.

The Xiao Manorʼs second young master, Xiao Yishe, was born of the Xiao Manorʼs legitimate wife. He was born a year earlier than Xiao Mo, with a birth date close to Xiao Moʼs.

Although Xiao Yisheʼs birthday was merely his second year, the entire Xiao Manor was decorated extremely festively from top to bottom. Quite a few of Qin Kingdomʼs high officials and nobles, friends and relatives all came to congratulate this second young master, Xiao Yishe.

On the day of the banquet, Zhou Ruoxi brought Xiao Mo to the front courtyard of the Xiao Manor.

This was also the first time Xiao Mo had left his motherʼs courtyard.

One could only say it was truly worthy of being the residence of the Northern Pacification Prince.

The Northern Pacification Princeʼs residence was extremely large. It even had mountains, water, and lakes.

In Xiao Moʼs view, its scale was only slightly smaller than his own palace.

”Moʼer, weʼll sit here. Eat whatever you want.” Zhou Ruoxi placed Xiao Mo on a chair to sit properly and rubbed his head.

”Oh wu.”

Xiao Mo nodded, his large eyes watching the people coming and going.

Everyone was offering birthday congratulations to the second young master, Xiao Yishe.

The clothes Xiao Yishe wore appeared even more wealthy and refined.

Even the Qin Kingdom’s ruler had people from the palace send over congratulatory gifts and cards.

The grandeur could be said to be immense.

Zhou Ruoxi turned her head and saw her Moʼerʼs little hands grasping the tableʼs edge, those eyes looking left and right.

In Zhou Ruoxiʼs heart, a trace of guilt couldnʼt help but arise.

After the gift-giving ceremony was completed, the maids of the Xiao Manor began serving dishes.

These dishes were all rare delicacies. Not a single dish was cheap.

Xiao Mo even learned from othersʼ conversations that the Qin Kingdom’s ruler had specially sent the palaceʼs imperial chef to the Northern Pacification Princeʼs Manor to personally cook on the second young masterʼs birthday.

As for his own birthday in a few days, would it have such grand fanfare?

Without even thinking about it, there definitely wouldnʼt be.

The Xiao Manor would even directly ignore it. However, Xiao Mo didnʼt take this to heart.

Three days after the Xiao Manorʼs second young masterʼs birthday ended was Xiao Moʼs birthday.

As expected, as a bastard son, no one paid attention to Xiao Moʼs birthday but on the morning of that day, just after Xiao Mo got up, his mother changed him into festive red clothes.

Cuicui bought many red lanterns and red silk ribbons to decorate the courtyard.

Cuicui even bought many pastries and foods from outside, along with fresh fruits and vegetables, chicken, duck, fish, and meat.

Xiao Mo sat in the courtyard, playing with snowballs on one side while watching his mother and Aunt Cui bustling about.

Their faces were adorned with happy smiles.

In the evening, as night fell, red lanterns were lit one by one. The warm red light intermingled with the bright moonlight, illuminating the entire courtyard.

Zhou Ruoxi and Cuicui brought dish after dish of prepared food into the house.

The entire room wafted with the fragrance of the food.

”Moʼer...”

Zhou Ruoxi crouched before the child, holding his little hands, looking gently at the childʼs large eyes.

”Mother is useless. I cannot give you a birthday banquet as lively as your second brotherʼs. I also cannot invite many people to celebrate with you. I also donʼt have much money to buy expensive dishes. Mother and Aunt Cui can only celebrate your birthday in this courtyard. You wonʼt blame Mother, will you?”

Xiao Mo vigorously shook his head and said in a childish voice, word by word, ”Mother... like.”

Zhou Ruoxi was slightly stunned. She quickly understood what the child was saying. Her eyes trembled as she tightly hugged her child, ”Mother also likes Moʼer...”

”Young Master, Young Master, this is my birthday gift to you. Please donʼt dislike it.” Cuicui took out a silver bracelet and happily placed it on Xiao Moʼs wrist.

Looking at this silver bracelet, Xiao Mo knew this cost at least half a yearʼs worth of Aunt Cuiʼs saved allowance.

”Very nice.” Xiao Mo showed a happy expression.

”Hehehehe, as long as Young Master likes it, thatʼs good.” Seeing the young master liked it, Cuicui was even happier.

”Moʼer, this is Motherʼs first birthday gift to you.”

Zhou Ruoxi hung a peace jade pendant around Xiao Moʼs neck.

”Mother doesnʼt care what achievements you accomplish in the future.

Mother only hopes that Moʼer, year after year, will have peace every year...”
