We Agreed On Experiencing Life, So Why Did You Immortals Become Real?

Chapter 315: Isnʼt This Like Letting a Pig Guard the Vegetable Garden?

One autumn and winter after another passed.

Xiao Moʼs daily schedule remained almost unchanged. Apart from going to learn spear techniques from his master, he would return to the courtyard where his mother taught him poetry, songs, and various famous essays.

A person who doesnʼt know books wonʼt recognize the path.

Zhou Ruoxi didnʼt expect her child to become a great Confucian scholar. She only hoped her child could understand some principles and know his own heart and Xiao Moʼs study of the God-Slaying Spear also progressed day by day.

As time passed day after day, Xiao Mo could already practice the God-Slaying Spear on his own to about seventy or eighty percent completion.

It was just the final part that was difficult to practice but this was only a matter of time.

Qin Siyao also often came to play with Xiao Mo. However, the number of times Qin Siyao could come find Xiao Mo was limited by her father emperor and mother empress.

Approximately once every three days.

This made Qin Siyao very unhappy. Qin Siyao tried to see if she could secretly slip out of the palace, but was discovered by Mother Empress and confined for several days.

She wasnʼt allowed out for an entire month.
Finally, when Qin Siyao could play with Xiao Mo again, she complained in Xiao Moʼs ear that ”Father Emperor and Mother Empress are big pig-heads!”

Xiao Mo could only pretend he didnʼt hear.

In the blink of an eye, five springs and autumns passed.

Qin Siyao grew from a little girl into a graceful young lady.

Similarly, after five years, Xiao Mo had also grown into a young man.

At this time, the youth had already entered the Cave Mansion realm.

His posture was tall and straight, and the long spear he held in his hand carried an even stronger sense of killing intent.

When he wielded the long spear in his hands, he had even more of a great generalʼs bearing.

Qin Siyaoʼs favorite thing to do was watch Xiao Mo practice with his spear.

Qin Siyao felt she could sit on a rock, prop up her chin, and watch Xiao Mo practice with his spear for an entire day.

Actually, five years ago, after Xiao Mo discovered Qin Siyaoʼs talent wasnʼt low, he also mentioned this to his master.

Huang Shan had Qin Siyao practice a set of fist techniques at the training ground and found her foundation was indeed good. He even tacitly permitted Xiao Mo to teach her the Heaven-Opening Fist and God-Slaying Spear but Qin Siyao only had talent without much perseverance.

She only did things for novelty.

Huang Shan lamented more than once that this girl was wasting her talent but Huang Shan could also understand.

After all, as the most beloved daughter of the Qin Kingdomʼs ruler, Qin Siyao had lived in luxury since childhood. How could she endure the hardship of martial training?

In any case, Huang Shan had the Heaven-Opening Fist and God-Slaying Spear manuals passed to Qin Siyao through Xiao Mo.

As for when she would come to her senses and want to practice martial arts, that could be discussed later.

Another half year passed.

Xiao Mo practiced the God-Slaying Spear alone at the training ground while Huang Shan stood to the side watching.

Each time Xiao Mo thrust his spear, the white clouds in the sky continuously gathered. The martial artistʼs protective energy and the sharp spear energy rushed through the entire training ground.

Xiao Mo thrust out his final spear strike.

The protective energy and spear energy compressed to the extreme suddenly exploded and scattered. The white clouds above Xiao Mo shattered piece by piece.

”Excellent!” Huang Shan walked forward with satisfaction and said to Xiao Mo, ”It seems youʼve completely learned the spear techniques of the God-Slaying Spear. Now you need to enter the second stage.”

”The second stage?” Xiao Mo asked curiously.

”Thatʼs right,” Huang Shan smiled, ”which is to forget the God-Slaying Spear.”

”...” Xiao Mo was stunned, doubting whether he had heard wrong.

”Boy, Iʼll say it again. What you need to do now is completely forget the God-Slaying Spear!”

Huang Shan clasped his hands behind his back and explained.

”As the saying goes, having no techniques surpasses having techniques. If youʼre attached to every move and style, then youʼll be constrained by these techniques. Remember one thing, whether cultivating the martial path or other various arts, the closer you are to the great Dao, the more you must return to nature. What you need to do now is completely engrave the God-Slaying Spear into your flesh, blood, and soul. You will forget each move and style of the God-Slaying Spear. But when you grasp the long spear and thrust it out, your long spear can slay gods!”

”Then Master, how should I do this?”

Hearing his masterʼs words, Xiao Mo could understand what his master meant, but the problem was, how could he achieve it?

”Your master also doesnʼt know how to do it.” Huang Shan shook his head, ”You need to find the way yourself. Back when your master learned the God-Slaying Spear, it took seventy years to reach this step. Boy, your master has nothing left to teach you.”

Huang Shan looked at his disciple.

”As the saying goes, the master leads you through the door, but cultivation depends on the individual. After today, you donʼt need to come to the training ground anymore. Your master has also stayed here long enough.”

”Master, youʼre...”

”Hehehe...” Huang Shan chuckled, ”Iʼve stayed at your Xiao Manor for ten years. Itʼs time to travel around the various kingdoms. In the future, we master and disciple will meet again if fate allows.”

”...”

Hearing his masterʼs words, Xiao Mo felt reluctance in his heart.

Over these years, Xiao Mo and his master had spent day and night together. To Xiao Mo, his master was already like half a family member.

”Alright, isnʼt it just a temporary separation? A real man, why act like a little girl?” Huang Shan patted his shoulder, ”You boy, stay alive. Donʼt let me hear news of your death someday.”

Xiao Mo also smiled, ”This disciple will certainly do his utmost.”

”Youʼre now thirteen years old. According to your Xiao Manorʼs rules, before long, youʼll surely go to the military for training. When that time comes, let your master hear of your reputation!”

”Yes!”

Xiao Mo bowed.

”Oh, and this, for you, boy.”

Huang Shan threw a long spear toward Xiao Mo.

”Clang!”

The spear planted itself in front of Xiao Mo. Looking at this long spear, its length was the same as the one currently in his hands. However, the difference was that this long spear was entirely white, with obscure and difficult-to-understand patterns carved on it that looked like fierce beasts.

”This long spear is called the Ten Fierce Spear. Itʼs an immortal weapon and is your masterʼs gift to you. However, immortal weapons all have certain temperaments. There are many ways to conquer an immortal weapon. Some people conquer them with their realm. Some people conquer them with formations. Still others need to connect with the immortal weapon through bloodline. But the Ten Fierce Spear is different. Whether you can gain the Ten Fierce Spearʼs recognition has nothing to do with your realm or strength. It depends entirely on your will. If you can withstand the Ten Fierce Spearʼs wildness and killing intent, then it will recognize you as master. Otherwise, even your soul will be devoured by it! Whether you can tame it depends on you.”

Huang Shan grinned.

”How about it, do you dare try?”

”Then Iʼll try.”

Xiao Mo stepped forward without the slightest hesitation and reached his hand toward the Ten Fierce Spear and just as Xiao Mo grasped this long spear, in Xiao Moʼs mind appeared the phantoms of fierce beasts.

They continuously roared at Xiao Mo, their violent appearance as if they wanted to tear Xiao Mo completely apart!

The wind waves emanating from the long spear blew Xiao Moʼs hair, and even Xiao Moʼs palm was cut and bled by the spear wind.

Huang Shan stroked his beard while watching Xiao Mo contend with the Ten Fierce Spear.

Half an incense stickʼs time later, Xiao Mo suddenly opened his eyes.

His eyes were filled with ruthlessness.

As a wave of spiritual power exploded and scattered, those beast roars gradually subsided.

Xiao Mo picked up the Ten Fierce Spear and swung it a few times, but soon felt his spiritual power was about to be drained. His complexion turned deathly pale.

”Boy, donʼt rush. Although youʼve temporarily gained the Ten Fierce Spearʼs recognition, your realm is too low. Forget about unleashing the Ten Fierce Spearʼs true power, after swinging it a few times, your spiritual power will be drained by the Ten Fierce Spear.”

Huang Shan said with a smile.

”For now, continue using the fourth-grade magical artifact I gave you before. When you reach the Nascent Soul realm someday, then switch to the Ten Fierce Spear. Do you understand?”

”Yes.” Xiao Mo nodded and stored the Ten Fierce Spear in his storage pouch.

”What a pity. Your master originally wanted to get you the hereditary succession of the Northern Pacification Prince title, but even with your masterʼs considerable influence, it probably wouldnʼt be easy to achieve.” Huang Shan sighed and shook his head.

”Master need not do so.” Xiao Mo responded, ”If I want merit and fame, I shall obtain them myself.”

”Hahaha! Good! What excellent words, ʼobtain them myself!ʼ”

Huang Shan laughed heartily.

”Good! Your master will wait for you to obtain your own merit and fame! Iʼm leaving!”

Huang Shan swept his large sleeve and walked toward the outside of the Xiao Manor.

Xiao Mo watched his masterʼs back. Master traveling around the kingdoms was indeed quite carefree, and he even wanted to get him a hereditary succession.

As for Master not being able to obtain it, Xiao Mo felt it was completely normal. The Qin Kingdom was one of the seven great kingdoms. No matter how high Masterʼs status was, how could a princeʼs title be given to someone else based on one personʼs word?

Wouldnʼt that corrupt the court?

But the fact that Master could propose this showed Masterʼs identity was indeed extraordinary but the question was, why would Master be a minor instructor at the Xiao Manor?

On the second day after Instructor Huang left, everyone no longer needed to go to the training ground to continue learning martial arts but everyone still habitually came to the training ground to take a look.

”Elder Brother, tomorrow Iʼm going to the military camp.” Xiao Yang said to Xiao Mo.

The Xiao family disciples, whether distant or close relatives, unless they were studious types participating in the imperial examinations, all needed to go to military camp for training.

It was only a matter of sooner or later.

Now, because Instructor Huang had already left and they had all learned martial skills, it was time to enter the military camp.

”Elder Brother, me too. Iʼve been assigned to General Conquering Qiʼs army. Maybe after a few years, Iʼll be a commander of a thousand.” Xiao Fu smiled and rubbed his nose.

”Iʼm in the Princeʼs Snow-Treading Dragon Cavalry. My mother begged First Madam for a long time before I could get in.” Xiao Gui said happily with a smile.

”You lucky boy!”

”No wonder your mother often brings gifts to find First Madam.”

”When you become a cavalry lord of the Snow-Treading Dragon Cavalry, you wonʼt forget us, will you?”

”I wonʼt, I wonʼt.” Xiao Gui raised his head proudly, ”When I make it someday, Iʼll transfer you all over. We brothers will serve together!”

”Youʼre getting cocky now, boy.”

Xiao Hai and the others each patted Xiao Guiʼs head once, starting to play around.

Xiao Mo smiled as he watched from the side.

After a while, Xiao Yang turned his head and looked at Xiao Mo, asking, ”Elder Brother, which military camp are you going to?”

Hearing Xiao Yangʼs question, the others also looked in Xiao Moʼs direction.

In their view, their elder brother was surely exceptionally talented. He had learned such difficult spear techniques, so he would surely be assigned to a very important army.

”I havenʼt.”

Xiao Mo smiled and shook his head. I havenʼt received word yet.

At the same time, outside the imperial study, someone gently knocked on the door, ”Father Emperor, your daughter requests an audience.”

”Come in.” The Qin Kingdom’s ruler called out toward the outside of the imperial study.

Soon, a young lady wearing a pink palace dress, lifting her skirt hem with curved eyes, walked in.

”Father Emperor~”

Qin Siyao walked prettily behind her father emperor, then poured him a cup of tea and gently pounded his shoulders.

”You girl, if you have something to say, just say it. No need for all this fuss.”

The Qin Kingdom’s ruler said with a smile.

Whenever his daughter had something she wanted, she always took this approach. Over time, the Qin Kingdom’s ruler had become somewhat accustomed to it.

”Father Emperor, you say such things. I just want to properly show my filial respect to you. What matter could I possibly have?” Qin Siyao said with a smile.

”Really nothing? If thereʼs nothing, then forget it.”

The Qin Kingdom’s ruler continued handling the memorials on his desk.

Qin Siyaoʼs eyes turned gently, and finally she spoke, ”Father Emperor, that does remind your daughter. Your daughter really does have just a little matter.”

”I knew you girl were up to something. Speak, what is it?”

”Itʼs like this, Father Emperor. Your daughter heard that the Xiao family disciples, when they reach a certain age, most need to be sent to various military camps for training, right?”

Qin Siyao organized her words in her heart and spoke.

”Thatʼs correct.” The Qin Kingdom’s ruler nodded, ”And then?”

”And then, your daughter was thinking, Xiao Mo is so capable, having him become a palace guard shouldnʼt be excessive, right?”

After Qin Siyao finished speaking, she blinked her eyes and looked at her father emperor.

”...”

How could the Qin Kingdom’s ruler not understand his daughterʼs intentions?

She simply wanted Xiao Mo to be closer to her.

The palace guards had to be stationed in the outer palace. This girl could go to the outer palace to find Xiao Mo anytime.

Isnʼt this like letting a pig guard the vegetable garden?

Although this girl was only thirteen and didnʼt understand romantic feelings, what if?

”Father Emperor, please... Father Emperor...”

Seeing Father Emperor still hesitating, Qin Siyao kept shaking Father Emperorʼs arm. ”Daughter, let Father Emperor think about it, alright? And check the palace guard regimentʼs roster. If possible, Father Emperor will definitely assign him there. After all, Father Emperor also admires him greatly.”

”Alright then.”

Qin Siyao hesitated for a moment, feeling she couldnʼt be too eager. The more eager she was, the more likely Father Emperor wouldnʼt agree.

”Then your daughter will take her leave.”

”Go, go.”

The Qin Kingdom’s ruler waved his hand. After sending off his daughter, he took out scrolls of records.

These recorded the various military camps in the capital.

Having Xiao Mo too far away, his daughter would probably make a fuss, but he absolutely couldnʼt have Xiao Mo too close either.

”?”

Just as the Qin Kingdom’s ruler was selecting, one military camp caught his attention.

”This one is not bad.”
