We Agreed On Experiencing Life, So Why Did You Immortals Become Real?

Chapter 295: Young Master, Shall We Play This?

After Jiang Qingyi left, Xiao Mo stood in place, dazed for a moment.

Xiao Mo hadnʼt expected her to leave so decisively but since she had left, Xiao Mo had no intention of following.

Setting aside whether he could even keep up with her.

She was going to find friends, so why would he tag along uninvited?

Xiao Mo fanned himself with his fan and continued touring the imperial capital.

Looking at the shops lining the roadside.

Listening to the calls and shouts of the street vendors.

Admiring the women in various colored dresses chattering like orioles and swallows.

The red lanterns reflected on the young ladiesʼ faces, as if applying a layer of light rouge to them, making them seem even more beautiful than usual.

”Young master, come play!”
”Sir, please come in and sit!”

”Oh my, Squire Wang, why did you only just arrive? This humble servant has missed you so. Please come inside, Squire.”

Xiao Mo passed by the imperial capitalʼs largest brothel. As soon as he approached, he heard those scantily clad women standing by the railings soliciting customers.

Their snow-white skin was exposed in large patches, with some wearing only a bellyband that was propped high up by their chests, making the peonies embroidered on them appear lifelike.

One could only say this was indeed Zhou Kingdomʼs imperial capitalʼs most famous brothel.

The looks of these women soliciting customers were even more outstanding than most courtesans in the inner courtyards of other brothels.

”Young master, donʼt just look, come play!”

”Young master, come quickly. This humble servant will serve you well!”

”Young master is so handsome that this humble servant would even pay you!”

Several women saw Xiao Mo standing outside the brothel watching and, thinking he wanted to enter and play, quickly twisted their waists and walked forward.

Setting aside how this young masterʼs clothing showed he was from a wealthy family.

Just this young masterʼs handsome appearance alone made them unable to restrain themselves.

Never mind him spending money, they wanted to spend on him.

Seeing the women approaching, Wei Xun momentarily didnʼt know whether he should block them for His Majesty, until Xiao Mo gave Wei Xun a look. Only after receiving permission did Wei Xun step forward with the guards to send these brothel women away.

”Wonʼt the young master go in and play?”

Just as Xiao Mo was about to continue walking forward, a womanʼs voice came over.

Xiao Mo turned to look and saw the young lady he had met twice before standing not far away, smiling at him.

Today, this young lady wore a light pink dress. Part of her raven-black hair was pinned up while the rest cascaded down over her shoulders, with a hairpin inserted among the strands.

With the womanʼs every step, the hairpin swayed gently.

The red glow of the lanterns softly reflected on the womanʼs face, making her fair and delicate features appear even more bright and charming.

Even though there were quite a few women dressed beautifully on the street, they all seemed to pale in comparison before this woman.

Beside the woman, Xiao Mo noticed the maid called Xiao Chun looking at him warily.

This feeling was as if she was afraid her young master couldnʼt resist temptation and would rush into the brothel behind his wifeʼs back.

”Greetings, young lady,” Xiao Mo bowed respectfully.

Xiao Mo didnʼt know why.

Although he and she had only met twice, when spending time with her, there was always an inexplicable sense of comfort.

Xiao Mo guessed it might be because neither of them had asked about the otherʼs identity, but simply interacted as ”friends” with no entanglement of interests, which allowed him to be more relaxed.

”This young lady greets you, young master.”

Yan Ruxue stepped forward and also bowed respectfully. When she curtsied, her dress clung to her figure, making her appear even more graceful and enchanting.

”Is the young lady also attending the Poetry Lantern Festival?” Xiao Mo smiled.

”Yes,” Yan Ruxue nodded. ”Every Poetry Lantern Festival, I come out to enjoy it with Mother and Father, but tonight Father and Mother went to visit guests, so Xiao Chun and I came out together.”

”I see,” Xiao Mo nodded.

At this moment, Xiao Chunʼs eyes shifted left and right, then she raised her head and called out to Xiao Mo cheerfully, ”If the young master has nothing to do, would you like to tour with us? Itʼs livelier with more people.”

”Well...” Xiao Mo didnʼt want to agree directly, but looked toward Yan Ruxue.

Yan Ruxue smiled with curved eyes and bowed her head, ”If the young master doesnʼt mind.”

”How could I mind being accompanied by the young lady?” Xiao Mo smiled. ”After you, young lady.”

Yan Ruxue nodded, ”After you, young master.”

Xiao Mo and Yan Ruxue walked side by side, maintaining half a bodyʼs distance between them.

Wei Xun and the others very tactfully followed at a distance behind His Majesty, giving His Majesty and that young lady space to be alone.

As Xiao Mo and Yan Ruxue walked, they chatted about some interesting events that had recently occurred in the imperial city, then also discussed music, chess, calligraphy, and painting.

Actually, from this young ladyʼs manner of speaking, Xiao Mo had long known she was a well-bred young lady from a distinguished family with strict upbringing, but he hadnʼt expected this young lady to have such deep accomplishments in music, chess, calligraphy, and painting.

Unknowingly, the two had strolled the streets for the time of one incense stick.

When they passed by a tea house, a tea house maid walked out, bowed respectfully to them, and solicited customers, ”Distinguished guests, our Zhen Tea House is currently holding a small poetry guessing game today. If you guess correctly, there are prizes. Would you two like to participate?”

After speaking, this tea house maid quickly added, ”Itʼs all free of charge.”

”Would the young lady like to go in and play?” Xiao Mo asked the woman beside him.

Yan Ruxue nodded, ”Iʼll follow the young masterʼs decision.”

”Then letʼs go in and play,” Xiao Mo made the decision.

”Wonderful! Young master and miss, please come inside. If there are any games that interest you, feel free to participate directly. Later on, Lady Sisi will also perform some musical pieces,” the tea maid quickly invited Yan Ruxue and Xiao Mo into the tea house.

This Zhen Tea House was very large, and Xiao Mo had vaguely heard of this tea houseʼs reputation.

Zhen Tea House could be considered one of the three great tea houses of the imperial capital, and the proprietor behind it was even a court official.

Inside Zhen Tea House, red silk ribbons and lanterns were already hanging everywhere.

Below the lanterns hung sheets of paper with riddles about poetry.

If one guessed correctly, they could take down the paper slip and exchange it for a prize from the tea house.

In addition, there were also games like continuing poetry verses and matching couplets.

Many scholars and young ladies were participating, drawing continuous laughter while still maintaining scholarly elegance.

After wandering around the first floor for a while, the group went up to the second floor.

Compared to the first floor, the second floor was much quieter but there were still quite a few women and scholars playing games.

The second floor had only one game.

Xiao Mo looked at the rules. Basically, one person would choose a poem, then have the other person guess it. If the other person guessed correctly, they could receive a certain reward. The game time was roughly a bit more than one cup of tea.

After reading the rules, Yan Ruxue turned around and smiled at Xiao Mo, ”Young master, shall we play this?”
