We Agreed On Experiencing Life, So Why Did You Immortals Become Real?

Chapter 281: Because... He Is Still in the Mortal Realm...

At the moment when the long blade in Wangxinʼs hand pierced through Xiao Moʼs chest, the control Xiao Mo had imposed on her suddenly vanished.

Xiao Mo slowly slid down from Wangxinʼs body and fell toward the empty air.

Wangxin quickly regained her senses and flew in Xiao Moʼs direction.

After catching Xiao Mo, Wangxin held him in her embrace and slowly descended onto a mountain peak.

Wangxin pulled out the broken blade, and with both hands condensing all her spiritual power, she pressed firmly against the wound at Xiao Moʼs heart.

Although the blood quickly stopped flowing, Xiao Moʼs life fire was already like a candle flickering in the wind. His life fire, which had been extremely weak to begin with, now had only a few scattered sparks remaining, flickering uncertainly between light and darkness.

When Xiao Mo had struck out against the great Dao, forcing the great Dao to accept the rules he had established, Xiao Moʼs life was already numbered.

Now, naturally, there was even less hope of recovery.

”Donʼt... donʼt...”

Wangxin tightly grasped Xiao Moʼs gradually cooling hand as tears rolled down like a broken string of pearls, spreading in deep and shallow traces across his blood-stained garments.
Wangxin could no longer even sense the existence of Xiao Moʼs life fire. ”What is there to cry about?” Xiao Mo shook his head with a smile. ”Continue upward. From now on, in this entire Western Region, you will be the only Buddha.”

As Xiao Moʼs final words scattered in the wind, he slowly closed his eyes.

At the moment of Xiao Moʼs death, far away at Ten Thousand Dao Sect, Yu Yunwei was handling affairs in her study.

Yu Yunwei looked up and gave her shoulders a slight massage.

Just as Yu Yunwei reached out to take the tea beside her, the moment her slender hand touched the teacup, the cup suddenly shattered.

”Senior Brother...”

Looking at the shattered teacup, Yu Yunweiʼs eyes trembled. An extremely ominous feeling quietly spread and grew within her heart.

Above Kongnian Temple, because Xiao Mo had forcibly opened a path to heaven for Wangxin, which was not tolerated by the great Dao, Xiao Moʼs body and divine soul gradually transformed into countless points of light, slowly scattering across the vast heaven and earth.

Just as Xiao Mo completely dissipated, the thunder longbow in the firmament that had been drawn but not released quietly faded away.

Only the gap in the great Dao that had been torn open by Xiao Moʼs forceful breakthrough remained suspended in the sky, still unhealed.

As Wangxin personally ended Xiao Moʼs life with her own hands, all the accumulated karmic merit and fortune of the Western Region from these years flowed entirely into her life soul.

At this moment, that illusory altar once again burst forth with dazzling radiance, illuminating the entire sky like a sheet of glazed glass.

Layer upon layer of dark clouds completely dispersed, replaced by golden lotus flowers blooming in the air, then transforming into petals that slowly drifted down.

These golden lotuses condensed during their descent into a golden stairway extending to the heavens. Each step flowed with warm Buddha light, leading straight into the depths of the firmament.

”This is a path to Buddhahood...”

The abbot of Like Dreams Temple gazed up at this golden heavenly stairway, his voice trembling slightly.

Even though he had cultivated Buddhist teachings for five thousand years, at this moment his eyes still couldnʼt help but show a trace of desire that was difficult to suppress.

After all, who wouldnʼt want to become a Buddha? Who wouldnʼt want to take another step forward?

No one knew how many Ascension realm cultivators had been unable to catch even a glimpse of those lost two realms at the moment of their death.

Now, that path to Buddhahood appeared before their very eyes. How could anyone not be moved?

However, what he hadnʼt expected was that Xiao Mo would actually go to such lengths for Wangxin.

He deeply understood that when he established rules for the Western Region, there was an extremely high possibility he would suffer backlash from the great Dao.

Even if he won against the great Dao, he would very likely be severely injured, or even have his origin essence dissipate.

Before his life fire was about to extinguish, Xiao Mo attempted to break through the Ascension realm and opened a path to heaven for Wangxin.

Finally, Xiao Mo borrowed Wangxinʼs hand to end his own life.

Under the arrayʼs activation, he then placed all of the Western Regionʼs fortune upon Wangxin.

All of these things, everything combined, ultimately converged to form this great path to Buddhahood.

As long as Wangxin stepped onto this golden path of light.

Even if Wangxin only walked halfway, her realm would at least reach the Ascension realm.

If she could complete the entire journey, achieving the Buddha realm would not be impossible!

Although ancient records stated that no monk had ever achieved Buddhahood through this method but Wangxin possessed the Seven-Aperture Exquisite Heart, perhaps she truly could create a miracle.

At this moment, everyoneʼs gaze focused on Wangxin, holding their breath as they waited for her choice.

A strong premonition surged in everyoneʼs hearts.

Since the ancient era, the first cultivator to step into the lost two realms might very well be born before their very eyes.

Even now, the heavenly path itself flickered with golden light, as if urging Wangxin to step onto this road yet Wangxin only raised her head, gazing up at this path to ascension, and from beginning to end never took a single step forward.

Everyone only saw Wangxin reach out her hand and gently grasp at that path to heaven.

The path to heaven trembled.

Responding to Wangxinʼs call, golden lotus flowers emerged from the steps one by one, finally flowing into the palm of Wangxinʼs hand and condensing into a golden lotus seed.

”Wangxin, my martial niece, what are you doing?” The abbot of Hermit Temple shouted toward Wangxin.

Could it be that she didnʼt want to ascend such a path to heaven?

This was something so many people had dreamed of!

”Wangxin, my martial niece, this is a path to heaven, do not let it pass by!” The abbot of Thousand Buddha Temple likewise shouted toward Wangxin.

”As long as Wangxin, my martial niece, steps onto this path, she can at least enter the Ascension realm!”

”Wangxin, my martial niece, now that the Western Region no longer has any Ascension realm cultivators, never mind Wangxin, my martial niece, achieving the Buddha realm, as long as she can step into Ascension, it will change the course of this great battle!”

The voices of the abbots of the Ten Great Buddhist Temples and others rang in Wangxinʼs ears.

They appeared even more anxious than Wangxin herself.

After all, Xiao Mo was dead, the demonic sect now also had no Ascension realm cultivators, and they themselves had fallen from Ascension. If Wangxin stepped onto these stairs, then the Buddhist sect could turn from defense to offense.

But to their shouts, Wangxin turned a deaf ear.

She only raised her head, watching as Xiao Mo, transformed into points of spiritual light, gradually rose into the sky.

”Wangxin, do you want to go up?”

Xu Jing asked Wangxin, his tone calm.

”Abbot Grandfather, I donʼt want to go up.” Wangxin shook her head.

”This is a path to Buddhahood. If you walk up, you might achieve what would be the first Buddha realm since the ancient era.”

Xu Jing didnʼt seem to be urging his own disciple to make a choice, but rather was asking her heart.

No matter what choice Wangxin made, Xu Jing would accept it.

”I know, Abbot Grandfather, but Abbot Grandfather, that path does not belong to me.”

Wangxin turned her wrist, activating the golden lotus seed.

The golden lotus seed protected the light points of Xiao Moʼs soul as they entered the cycle of reincarnation.

”I know what the Buddha realm means but.. my Buddha is not in heaven”

“Because he is still in the mortal realm...”
