We Agreed On Experiencing Life, So Why Did You Immortals Become Real?

Chapter 255: Until the Worldʼs Black Hair Turns White, Until Dead Trees Bloom Beneath the Clouds

”Mother... Brother Xiao is alright, isnʼt he?”

”Mother doesnʼt know either. He should, should be alright...”

”Mother, this big sister is so beautiful. But why doesnʼt she have any hair?”

”Weiwei, sheʼs a monk. But this is Motherʼs first time seeing a female monk too.”

”Then Mother, what is this thing? Itʼs pink and plump, and it has wings. Itʼs so cute.” As she spoke, Ning Wei extended her hand and gently poked the unconscious Hundun.

Little Hundunʼs plump belly bounced up and down.

”Well, Mother actually doesnʼt know either.” Madam Wang quickly pulled her daughterʼs hand down. ”But you canʼt touch other peopleʼs things carelessly.”

”Oh...”

Ning Wei nodded and continued looking at the big sister lying on the bed.

Not long ago, when the young woman was washing clothes by the river, she saw a lotus flower slowly drifting from upstream.

On the lotus flower lay a man and a woman.

After Madam Wang rescued the man and woman from the lotus flower, only then did she discover that the man was Young Master Xiao.

Madam Wang hurriedly pulled Young Master Xiao down from the lotus flower, found some hay to cover him, pushed him back to the courtyard on a small cart, and managed not to be discovered by anyone.

”Mother, look, this big sister seems to be waking up.”

Seeing the big sisterʼs long eyelashes gently flutter, Ning Wei quickly tugged at her motherʼs sleeve.

Madam Wang raised her head to look and saw the young girl lying on the bed slowly opening her eyes.

The young girlʼs eyes carried a trace of bewilderment.

When Wangxin saw a woman and a little girl at the bedside watching her, she was even more confused.

She only remembered an Immortal realm cultivator striking a palm toward her. She had sacrificed the protective treasure that Abbot Grandfather had given her, and then she didnʼt know what happened after that.

”Xiao Mo!”

After her consciousness became completely clear, Wangxin immediately thought of Xiao Mo.

”Miss, donʼt worry. Young Master Xiao is resting in the next room.” Madam Wang comforted Wangxin, asking with confusion, ”May I ask what relationship Miss has with Young Master Xiao?”

”Xiao Mo is my friend,” Wangxin answered. ”Two benefactors, may I ask where this is...”

”This is our residence. Earlier, Miss and Young Master Xiao were drifting downstream on a lotus flower. I intercepted the lotus flower and brought Young Master Xiao and Miss back home.

Actually, our family has known Young Master Xiao for quite some time.

Back then in Luofeng City, when Forgetting River Sect wanted to forcibly take away this humble oneʼs daughter, it was Young Master Xiao who helped us.

Afterward, Young Master Xiao had someone escort this humble one and my daughter to Ten Thousand Dao Sect...”

To put Wangxin at ease, Madam Wang explained the course of events in detail, and also recounted Young Master Xiaoʼs kindness to their family back in Luofeng City.

Wangxin learned that Madam Wang and her daughter had indeed moved into Karma Blood Peak, and that Xue Kui had taken them in.

However, just a few months ago, Xue Kui told them that the Yin-Yang Eyes needed to train in the mortal world for a period of time and that it wasnʼt suitable to stay in a demonic sect, so she sent the two of them to this courtyard, saying she would bring them back after four years.

Although Wangxin wasnʼt clear on the reasons, this encounter was indeed fate.

Wangxin got out of bed and walked to Xiao Moʼs room. She channeled spiritual power into Xiao Moʼs body, examining his physical condition.

Just as Wangxin had anticipated, although Xiao Mo had preserved his life after failing to overcome the tribulation this time, this was after all the Immortal tribulation.

After failing the tribulation, Xiao Moʼs spiritual veins and root bones had suffered severe damage. His realm had already fallen to Nascent Soul, and even teetered precariously, at risk of being unable to maintain even the Nascent Soul realm at any moment...

Setting aside his realm, Xiao Moʼs soul had also suffered a certain degree of damage, and no one knew how long it would take for him to wake up.

For most people, soul damage of this severity would likely mean lying in bed for an entire lifetime, unable to awaken.

The day after Wangxin woke up, little Hundun also woke.

Little Hundun hadnʼt been injured at all.

However, when it saw its master lying motionless on the bed, its mood became extremely dejected.

”Migu, migu...”

Sitting at Xiao Moʼs bedside, little Hundun nuzzled Xiao Moʼs cheek, trying to wake its master, but it was completely futile.

One day...

Two days...

Three days...

As time passed day by day, Wangxin and little Hundun had already gotten used to life here because the village where Wangxin was staying had quite a few villagers, and her appearance was too conspicuous, news might spread and attract cultivators.

So Wangxin once again put on a wig, took off her monk robes, and changed into ordinary hemp clothing.

Wangxin cared for Xiao Mo every day, wiping his body and brewing various medicinal formulas.

Besides calling ”migu” a few times by Xiao Moʼs ear every day at fixed times, trying to wake him, little Hundun would fly around with Wangxin, searching for various rare treasures.

Whatever methods could be tried, Wangxin would try them all.

She even chanted Buddhist scriptures to the dead tree in the courtyard, hoping Buddha would bless Xiao Mo to wake up.

Watching everything Wangxin did for Young Master Xiao, although Miss Wangxin said they were just friends,

Madam Wang felt it was definitely more than that.

If they were only friends, how could she do all this?

For Miss Wangxin, it seemed that Xiao Mo was her very life.

Before they knew it, half a month had passed.

A heavy snow fell on this small village.

The snow began falling in the latter half of the night and still hadnʼt stopped by daybreak.

The earthen-yellow rooftops were all covered with a thick layer of white. Only around a few chimneys were dark, damp marks visible. Snowflakes fell on the straw piled on the courtyard wall, accumulating in a loose layer.

The bare paulownia tree stood in the courtyard, its branches slightly drooping under the weight of the snow. Occasionally, clumps of snow would slide off the branches, scattering fine snow fragments beneath the tree.

Occasionally, the sound of a dog barking came from within the courtyard, muffled and quickly returning to silence.

Early in the morning, when Ning Wei woke up, she saw Sister Wangxin kneeling beneath that paulownia tree as usual, chanting Buddhist scriptures and praying for Brother Xiaoʼs blessing.

”Sister Wangxin...” Ning Wei walked forward, calling out softly.

”Mm?” Wangxin slowly opened her eyes and looked at the girl beside her.

”Sister Wangxin, why do you pray to a paulownia tree? Shouldnʼt you pray to a Buddha statue?” Ning Wei asked.

Actually, Ning Wei had wanted to ask for many days now but Mother told her not to disturb Sister Wangxin.

Curiosity kept expanding in Ning Weiʼs heart, and today she finally couldnʼt hold back anymore.

”Abbot Grandfather said that Buddha is in all things. As long as oneʼs heart is sincere, thereʼs no need to face a Buddha statue. Even facing a rock would be acceptable,” Wangxin answered gently.

”But Sister Wangxin, youʼve been praying for so long. What if Buddha doesnʼt respond?” Ning Wei asked.

”If Buddha doesnʼt answer me, then Iʼll keep praying.”

”Then how long will Sister Wangxin pray for...” Ning Wei asked with concern.

”How long...”

The young girl raised her head, watching the snowflakes fall through the air.

”Until the worldʼs black hair turns white.”

”Until dead trees bloom beneath the clouds.”
