We Agreed On Experiencing Life, So Why Did You Immortals Become Real?

Chapter 291: It Seems, Compared to the Other Flowers, It Appears Even More Beautiful

At Hundred Lanterns Temple, Minister of Rites Lord Yan once again brought his colleagues to visit.

However, compared to last time, Lord Yan and the others brought quite a few gifts, and their faces all carried traces of embarrassment.

”This humble official Yan Zhen pays respects to Master Wangxin.”

In the front hall of Hundred Lanterns Temple, Yan Zhen and the others bowed to Wangxin.

Wangxinʼs eyes blinked gently as she looked at Yan Zhen and the others, thinking they had come to see her about the blessing ceremony. She slowly spoke, ”I will go to the Heaven Worship Platform shortly to pray for blessings for your majesty, there will be no delay.”

”This...”

Yan Zhenʼs embarrassed expression grew even thicker, even carrying a few traces of apology.

”Master Wangxin, we are extremely grateful for your prayers for our majesty during this time, but from today onwards, we need not trouble Master Wangxin further. Master Wangxin need not go to the Heaven Worship Platform anymore.”

”It is no longer needed?” Wangxin asked calmly.

”That is correct.”
Yan Zhen sighed. With great difficulty, Master Wangxin had wandered to Zhou Kingdom and agreed to pray for blessings for both his majesty and his own daughter, yet now it could not be completed.

”To be honest with Master Wangxin, the grand ceremony has been temporarily postponed. If the Empress Enthronement Ceremony is to be held, it will likely be a year from now. We shall not trouble Master Wangxin any longer.”

Yan Zhen straightened up and waved his hand as officials beside him stepped forward carrying several gift boxes.

Opening the gift boxes revealed gold and jewels, golden silk kasaya robes, snow cicada silk fabrics, and other expensive items.

Yan Zhen respectfully bowed, ”Although the grand ceremony has been postponed, Master Wangxin has indeed worked hard during this time. Our Zhou Kingdom has prepared some gifts of gratitude for Master Wangxin. Please do not disdain them.”

Looking at these treasures, Wangxin blinked her eyes. She neither refused nor accepted everything, but simply walked forward and took out a small golden ingot from among them, ”This is enough.”

”Perhaps Master Wangxin should accept everything,” Yan Zhen said with some difficulty. ”Master Wangxin need not be so courteous with us.”

”I do not need so much money,” Wangxin shook her head. ”This small golden ingot I have taken is already quite a lot. Furthermore, this humble monk will remain in Zhou Kingdomʼs imperial capital for some time. If a year from now I am still here, I can continue to pray for blessings for your majesty.”

Yan Zhen wanted to say something more, but seeing the firm yet clear expression in this womanʼs eyes, he knew that further words would be useless. In the end, Yan Zhen simply bowed, ”Since that is the case, then we shall thank Master Wangxin on behalf of his majesty. If Master Wangxin needs any assistance from this humble official, you may come to the Ministerʼs Manor to find me at any time. Anything this humble official can do, I will certainly do my utmost.”

”Very well,” Wangxin nodded.

”Then this humble official shall not disturb Master Wangxinʼs tranquility and will take his leave.”

”Please take care, everyone.”

After both sides exchanged bows, Yan Zhen and the others descended the mountain.

”Migu.” Little Hundun lay on Wangxinʼs shoulder, looking at its mistress.

”Let us go, we should also descend the mountain,” Wangxin rubbed little Hundunʼs small head and tucked the small golden ingot into the little pouch Hundun carried on its back.

To avoid drawing too much attention, Wangxin changed into the hemp clothing and pants of ordinary folk, then came to Zhou Kingdomʼs imperial capital.

Even though Wangxin had removed her kasaya and changed into the simplest possible plain hemp clothing, because Wangxinʼs appearance was too outstanding, men and women, young and old passing by on the streets would turn their heads to look at Wangxin several times.

However, the sacred aura emanating from Wangxinʼs body made people dare not approach. Even street ruffians only dared to observe from afar and even felt somewhat afraid.

This feeling was as if the wrongdoings they had committed would be completely exposed before this woman. They could only hide far away, like rats in the darkness not daring to be exposed to sunlight.

In Wangxinʼs bundle, little Hundun poked out a pair of eyes, curiously looking at this bustling town.

When passing by someoneʼs candied hawthorn stand, little Hundun would even poke out its small head and, while the old man selling candied hawthorns wasnʼt paying attention, bite off half a stick in one gulp.

At such times, Wangxin would purse her lips and lightly pat little Hundunʼs small head, then buy that stick of candied hawthorn.

Before long, Wangxin found a property agency.

Seeing such a beautiful woman walk in, the property agencyʼs clerk was also stunned for a moment.

When he heard that this woman wanted to buy a courtyard residence, this property agency clerk became even more enthusiastic.

The property agency clerk asked Wangxin about her requirements for the residence, then took her to tour various houses in the city.

In the end, Wangxin took a liking to a villa in the western part of the city.

This courtyard was not located in an overly remote area and was relatively quiet.

Looking at this harmless-looking woman, the property agency clerk thought she would be easy to deceive and originally wanted to quote a higher price.

But when the words reached his lips and he looked into her eyes, for some reason, the property agency clerk felt a sense of guilt and could only tell the truth in the end.

Wangxin felt the price was reasonable and purchased this villa.

The furniture in this courtyard was all complete, only lacking bedding.

Wangxin bought some daily necessities in the city, then cleaned the courtyard.

She kept busy until evening before Wangxin finished cleaning the courtyard, only then having leisure time to sit in the yard.

”From today onwards, we will be living here for some time,” Wangxin said to little Hundun. ”Perhaps we can truly find him here. Once we find him, we will take him back to the Western Region.”

”Migu...”

Little Hundun nodded and continued lying on the table eating steamed buns.

It no longer knew how many times it had heard its mistress say this but could they really find him?

Little Hundun did not know either.

Several days passed in succession.

The neighbors all learned that a very beautiful woman had recently moved in.

Moreover, this woman was proficient in Buddhist teachings.

Because quite a few common people in Zhou Kingdom worshipped Buddhism.

So for a time, many aunties and elderly women would come to find Wangxin to inquire about Buddhist principles when they had nothing else to do.

Wangxin would answer all questions, and from time to time would help neighbors pray for blessings, recite sutras, drive away evil spirits, or write door curtain calligraphy to ensure peace and safety.

From the mouths of the neighboring aunties and elderly women, Wangxin heard news about Zhou Kingdomʼs ruler and finally learned why Zhou Kingdomʼs ruler had temporarily decided not to marry.

It turned out that the Qin Kingdom’s ruler wanted to marry off his younger sister to Zhou Kingdomʼs ruler, and this was a marriage engagement established by the ancestors of Qin Kingdom and Zhou Kingdom.

Qin Kingdom was currently powerful, and Zhou Kingdom could not afford to offend them. Moreover, since it was an ancestral agreement, it was difficult to refuse but Zhou Kingdom had already confirmed the daughter of the Yan family as empress. If they changed now, where would Zhou Kingdomʼs dignity be?

Therefore, the Empress Dowager of Zhou Kingdom personally wrote a letter to Qin Kingdomʼs ruler, expressing hope to follow ancestral law and bring both women into the palace simultaneously, then choose one person as empress after a year based on his majestyʼs preference.

The Empress Dowager of Zhou Kingdomʼs letter had already been transmitted to Qin Kingdom and was awaiting Qin Kingdom’s rulerʼs reply.

Five days later, Qin Kingdomʼs reply arrived, and Zhou Kingdomʼs imperial capital immediately became lively.

Learning that Qin Kingdomʼs ruler agreed to the Empress Dowager of Zhou Kingdomʼs suggestion.

For a time, everyone in Zhou Kingdom breathed a sigh of relief.

After all, this Qin Kingdom’s ruler was rumored to be notoriously domineering.

The officials of Zhou Kingdom worried that even their concession would be useless, that Qin Kingdomʼs ruler would still want his younger sister to be empress, or else it would be an insult to Qin Kingdom but unexpectedly, Qin Kingdomʼs ruler was actually so reasonable.

The reaction of Zhou Kingdomʼs court officials was also very swift. They quickly determined an auspicious date based on the birth dates and times of their ruler, the daughter of the Yan family, and Princess Qinyang.

Fifty-three days from now, the daughter of the Yan family and Princess Qinyang would enter the palace together.

Although Zhou Kingdom still had no empress, at least his majestyʼs harem would not be empty.

The imperial capital was now full of discussions, all guessing whose bedchamber his majesty would visit on the first night and who would be first to bear a prince for his majesty.

Regarding all of this, Wangxin did not care.

She carried the half-broken blade Ranmo and little Hundun, searching every day through the imperial capitalʼs streets and alleys for Xiao Moʼs figure.

Although these days had passed without any results.

Wangxin was not anxious.

In Wangxinʼs view, she had already searched for a thousand years. What did a few more days matter?

Unknowingly, Wangxin had already lived in that small courtyard in the western city of Zhou Kingdomʼs imperial capital for half a month.

On this day, a woman arrived in the imperial capital.

The woman wore a snow-white gauze dress, her garment sleeves fluttering lightly with the wind, like a ray of sunlight pouring down from among the clouds.

Though the dress material was as thin as cicada wings, it covered her skin completely. As she walked, it vaguely outlined the contours of her slender, well-proportioned figure.

The womanʼs waist was bound with a bright red brocade sash that cinched her willowy waist just right, further accentuating the breathtaking curves between waist and hips.

She caused quite a few men to forget to walk.

When the woman passed by a brothel, those scantily clad ladies looked at her and were stunned.

It could be said that the so-called slender waist bearing abundant fruit and seductive eyes described in novels were nothing more than this.

The woman ignored these peopleʼs gazes and walked straight toward a villa in the western city.

Although the woman had just arrived in the Central Plains, disciples of Ten Thousand Dao Sectʼs Wind Listening Pavilion had already come to Zhou Kingdomʼs imperial capital and gathered quite a bit of miscellaneous information.

This included the whereabouts of an old friend from the Western Region.

Walking before that small courtyard, the woman extended her hand and gently knocked on the door.

Soon, footsteps could be heard from within the courtyard.

The door opened. Wangxin looked at the woman standing before her, her clear eyes blinking as she said in surprise, ”Elder Sister Sili...”

Siliʼs eyes curved as she smiled charmingly, ”Little Sister Wangxin, it has been a long time.”

…

Western Region, Ten Thousand Dao Sect.

Ten Thousand Dao Sectʼs Sect Master Yu Yunwei was sitting in her study handling affairs.

Over the past thousand years, the large and small matters of Ten Thousand Dao Sect had mostly been decided by Yu Yunwei, with Sili providing assistance but now, after Sili left, Yu Yunwei could only handle things alone.

It was not that Yu Yunwei had not thought of cultivating some trusted confidants, but regardless of who they were, Yu Yunwei did not feel at ease with them.

This was not to say they were not loyal enough, but rather their ability to handle affairs was, in Yu Yunweiʼs view, truly inferior to that flirtatious woman Sili.

”Elder Sister Yunwei...”

Just as Yu Yunwei was reviewing documents regarding Ten Thousand Dao Sectʼs subordinate sects, Ning Wei ran into the study.

”Ning Wei, what is it?”

Yu Yunwei raised her head, rubbed her somewhat weary eyes, and asked the woman before her.

A thousand years had passed.

The little girl from back then had now blossomed into a graceful young woman. Normally, Ning Wei did not hold any position within Ten Thousand Dao Sect.

Yu Yunwei had Ning Wei take care of that plain filled with blood kui flowers, and aside from that, to cultivate diligently.

Ning Wei had not disappointed Yu Yunweiʼs expectations.

Although Ning Weiʼs talent could not really be considered top-tier, she truly had never slacked in her cultivation.

Over these thousand years, Ning Weiʼs realm had advanced to complete Nascent Soul stage, only one step away from Jade Simplicity realm.

”Elder Sister Yunwei, the blood kui flower seeds on the plain have all broken through the soil!”

Ning Wei shouted excitedly to Yu Yunwei.

”What?”

Yu Yunwei stood up, her eyes filled with disbelief.

”I am going to look right now!”

Yu Yunwei hastily left the room and flew toward that small plain.

Although blood kui flowers were not extremely precious spirit flowers or spirit herbs, normally they would bloom once every thirty years but after those blood kui flower seeds were planted, a thousand years had already passed, yet they had never bloomed.

Yu Yunwei had once consulted some cultivators proficient in spirit plants about the reason, but they also did not know why.

Over all these years, Yu Yunwei had tried every method to no avail and had almost given up.

Unexpectedly, today that small plain finally showed signs of activity.

Soon, Yu Yunwei arrived above that small plain.

As Yu Yunwei gradually descended, what came into view were flower stalks breaking through the soil one by one.

Every blood kui flower was in bud, ready to bloom.

The breeze passed by, swaying their slender crimson forms.

Once blood kui flowers broke through the soil and formed buds, it meant blooming would not be far off.

After Ning Wei also arrived at the blood kui flower plain, Yu Yunwei had Ning Wei take her sect masterʼs token to find the Punishment Hall Master. From today onwards, all sect affairs would temporarily be handled by the Punishment Hall Master.

Yu Yunwei would remain on this small plain, spending every day by her senior brotherʼs tombstone, never leaving again.

One day, two days, three days...

Every day, Yu Yunwei gazed at these thousands upon thousands of blood kui flower buds then on the fourth night after Yu Yunwei came to the plain.

As Yu Yunwei sat meditating before her senior brotherʼs tombstone, she sensed something and slowly opened her eyes.

Under the moonlight, the plain was so quiet it seemed one could hear the sound of dew condensing.

At first, it was only one or two flowers, then thousands upon thousands of blood kui flowers quietly bloomed in the moonlight.

When the petals unfurled, they carried an extremely light trembling, like sighs upon first waking after a long slumber.

Tens of thousands of flowers stretched into a sea of dark red. The moonlight washed over every petal, and that red color shed the intensity it might have had in daylight, transforming into a faint blush, as if the earth were slightly flushing with color.

”Senior Brother, do you see?”

Yu Yunwei leaned against her senior brotherʼs tombstone, as if pillowing her head on his shoulder, gazing at this blooming sea of flowers. Her eyes gently wavered.

”The blood kui flowers... have bloomed...”

At that moment, before the tombstone, a blood kui flower quietly broke through the soil and gently bloomed.

It swayed its form, as if gazing at the tombstone.

It seemed, compared to the other flowers, it appeared even more beautiful...
