We Agreed On Experiencing Life, So Why Did You Immortals Become Real?

Chapter 252: In This Old Manʼs View, This Matter Is Rather Inappropriate!

In Zhou Kingdomʼs Lingxin Palace.

A woman wearing wedding attire sat before a silver mirror as palace maids dressed and adorned her.

”How can there be such a beautiful woman in this world?”

Empress Dowager Yan stood beside her clanʼs daughter, growing more satisfied the more she looked.

Moreover, this clan daughter of hers had read ten thousand volumes and was full of scholarly refinement.

It was just that Ruxue couldnʼt cultivate.

Otherwise, Empress Dowager Yan felt she would definitely find every means to send Ruxue to an academy to cultivate.

”Reporting to the Empress Dowager, we servants have finished adorning Miss Yan.”

Half a double-hour later, Female Official Huang bowed to Empress Dowager Yan.

”Come, come, come, let me take a good look.”
Empress Dowager Yan stepped forward and helped Yan Ruxue up, her hands grasping the womanʼs soft, boneless arms.

”Beautiful, truly beautiful.”

Empress Dowager Yan didnʼt know how many times she had praised Yan Ruxue, but each time felt insufficient.

”Yes, Miss Yan is truly so beautiful. This servant has never seen such a beautiful bride.” A maid was also mesmerized.

”You all.” Empress Dowager Yan smiled, ”From now on, you should start calling her Empress.”

”Empress Dowager, today is merely a rehearsal. Ruxue hasnʼt entered the palace yet...” Yan Ruxue lowered her head, her eyes carrying a touch of shyness.

”Hahaha, though itʼs a rehearsal, after today passes, the matter of you, Ruxue, becoming empress will be set in stone. If other court officials still want to say anything, theyʼll first have to ask whether the rites and regulations agree, whether the common people of the realm agree.”

Empress Dowager Yan held Yan Ruxueʼs fair, delicate little hand.

”Moreover, besides you, Ruxue, who else is qualified to serve as Zhou Kingdomʼs empress?”

Hearing the Empress Dowagerʼs praise, Yan Ruxue only smiled without speaking.

”His Majesty marrying you is not only His Majestyʼs fortune but also my fortune. In this deep palace, Iʼve been here alone with no one to chat with.”

Empress Dowager Yanʼs eyes looking at Yan Ruxue carried some sincerity.

”Soon youʼll enter the palace, Ruxue. At least I wonʼt be so bored anymore.”

Yan Ruxue smiled slightly, ”Please rest assured, Empress Dowager. After Ruxue enters the palace, she will certainly spend more time with the Empress Dowager.”

”Hehehe, just come see me occasionally. You should spend more time with His Majesty and quickly give our Zhou Kingdom a crown prince.”

Though Empress Dowager Yan said this with her mouth, in her heart she was quite gratified, thinking this girl was truly sensible.

”Alright, itʼs almost time. Letʼs go quickly. The civil and military officials have already arrived.”

”Yes, Empress Dowager.” Yan Ruxue nodded slightly.

A maid beside her took the red bridal veil and gently covered the womanʼs countenance.

According to Zhou Kingdomʼs rites, Xiao Mo arrived at the Heaven Worship Platform first, awaiting the arrival of the Empress Dowager and Yan Ruxue.

Because this was merely a rehearsal of the ceremony, stages like fetching the bride were all omitted. The main rehearsal was of the most important and most complicated rites held within the imperial palace.

Below the Heaven Worship Platform, all the officials had arrived and stood on both sides.

Quite a few ministers stole glances at their sovereign.

After all, their sovereign hadnʼt attended court for about half a year, focusing entirely on cultivation. This was the first time theyʼd seen him in half a year.

Whatʼs more, looking at their sovereignʼs upright bearing. For some reason, they felt their sovereign also had a scholarly air, his entire temperament rather like a scholar.

Even those resolute eyes faintly gave one a sense of killing intent, quite an aura of commanding respect without anger.

Although their sovereign was a puppet, this appearance and temperament were truly excellent.

Xiao Mo didnʼt care what these court officials thought.

Xiao Mo was somewhat curious about what this daughter of the Yan clan looked like.

”Dong...”

”Dong...”

”Dong...”

For the next hour, with three bell tolls ringing out, guided by Empress Dowager Yan, a young woman wearing wedding attire walked step by step into the Heaven Worship Platformʼs plaza.

Each step the woman took was elegant and composed. Maids dragged her red long dress. Her graceful figure was set off by the wedding attire, her posture upright. Every movement revealed an uncommon temperament.

Empress Dowager Yan handed the red silk tied with red flowers into Xiao Moʼs hands.

Less than half a meter apart, Xiao Mo could smell the faint fragrance emanating from the woman.

Xiao Mo grasped the red silk and led the woman step by step up the high platform.

The Director of the Heaven Monitoring Bureau chanted benedictions passed down since ancient times. Amid the benedictions, Xiao Mo and Yan Ruxue each took incense sticks to worship heaven and earth.

However, because this wasnʼt the official wedding, the incense sticks werenʼt lit.

According to Zhou Kingdomʼs rules, there were three prohibitions for wedding rehearsals—

Worshiping heaven, earth, and ancestors must not light incense.

The empress must not speak.

Both parties must not perform the wedding ceremony bow but after most of the various complicated procedures were completed, the Director of the Heaven Monitoring Bureau glanced at the Empress Dowager.

The Empress Dowager nodded at the Director of the Heaven Monitoring Bureau.

The Director cleared his throat, ”Your Majesty, Empress, this old minister observed the stars last night. The nine stars formed a circle, an extremely auspicious omen of lasting reunion.

Although today is a rehearsal of the wedding ceremony and not the official wedding, this minister boldly suggests that Your Majesty and the Empress perform the wedding ceremony today to accord with heavenʼs will and not waste such an auspicious day.”

After the Director finished speaking, the Empress Dowager standing to one side chimed in, ”The nine stars forming a circle is indeed a rare auspicious omen. I also agree with Director Zhongʼs proposal. I wonder what Your Majesty and Ruxue think?”

Yan Ruxue didnʼt speak, only raised her head beneath the red veil, looking at Xiao Mo through it. That gesture seemed to say, ”This subject will follow Your Majestyʼs will in all things.”

Xiao Mo couldnʼt help but smile inwardly.

What nine stars forming a circle.

It was all merely his pretext.

The purpose was to be able to perform the wedding ceremony in advance during todayʼs rehearsal.

The wedding ceremony bow was no trifling matter.

Once they performed the bow, the empress position of the Yan clanʼs daughter would basically be fixed and unchangeable.

Xiao Mo didnʼt particularly care, sooner or later, theyʼd have to perform the ceremony anyway.

It was just that Xiao Mo hadnʼt expected that the Director of the Heaven Monitoring Bureau, this serious-looking fellow with thick eyebrows who had an extremely leisurely position, was actually on Empress Dowager Yanʼs side, doing things for her.

Hearing these words, the other ministers below the platform became somewhat anxious.

There were still half a month until His Majestyʼs wedding ceremony with the talented Yan clan lady.

Half a month was enough time for many variables to occur. Their aristocratic familiesʼ side was also working hard, seeing if they could replace the Yan clanʼs talented lady.

”In this old manʼs view, this matter is rather inappropriate!”

Just as Xiao Mo was about to agree, Ten Thousand Swords Sectʼs Elder Huang stepped forward and said loudly.

In an instant, everyoneʼs gazes turned toward Huang Wei but only Yan Ruxue looked toward another direction of the imperial palace.

In the direction Yan Ruxue looked, a woman sat in a tree, drinking osmanthus wine.

Sensing something, she wiped the wine from the corners of her mouth and likewise turned her head to look back.

Separated by several hundred zhang, the two womenʼs gazes collided.
