I am the Ultimate Villain, So What If I Kill a Protagonist

83: Chapter 83 Orphans and Widows ArriveA few days later, Chu Yuan, accompanied by Zhou Xiaodie, landed in the capital after a few hours of flight.

Towering skyscrapers immediately came into view.

In terms of prosperity, the Magic City is no less impressive than the capital.

Whether in his past life or this one, Chu Yuan had never witnessed the grandeur and magnificence of the capital.

This opportunity was perfect for a little sightseeing.

”Amitabha, this humble monk greets the Young Master!”

Before he knew it, Jiesha had appeared behind Chu Yuan.

”The Monk, you’ve worked hard. Find us a restaurant; we can eat and chat.”

Led by Jiesha, the group found a decent, slightly upscale restaurant.

Not even the most monumental of matters could stop Chu Yuan from satisfying his hunger.

”The Monk, tell me how the plan is progressing.”

While enjoying the fine wine and food, Chu Yuan didn’t forget to ask about the situation with Jiesha’s convenient foster son.

”That woman, Qi Xinyue, has called this humble monk dozens of times, but I haven’t paid her any mind.”

”As for the Shen Family, Second Uncle Shen Congwen, Shen Lang, and a few others unanimously agree that Shen Wen’s existence is an insult to the Shen Family. They are preparing to hold a family meeting to discuss stripping Shen Wen of his title as Young Master of the Shen Family, and to decide on a new head of the family.”

Upon hearing this, the corners of Chu Yuan’s mouth curled up. ”The Shen Family members are quite efficient; they act quickly.”

”It seems that Shen Wen and his mother are at their wits’ end and are desperate for you to bail them out.”

”They are your convenient wife and child, after all. The Monk, why don’t you go and pay them a visit tonight to ’steal some jade and fragrance,’ and solve their troubles while you’re at it.”

Leaving Shen Wen to stew for a while had already achieved the desired effect.

Do not forget, although Shen Wen is incredibly stupid and surrounded by enemies, he is still the Protagonist and possesses the Protagonist’s halo.

If the Protagonist’s halo were to suddenly flare up and some fool decided to meddle and help him, it would only bring more trouble for Chu Yuan.

”Rest assured, Young Master. The Monk will not let you down.”

Chu Yuan was quite confident in Jiesha; with him taking action, dealing with Shen Wen would be more than enough.

After a satisfying meal, an idle Chu Yuan took Zhou Xiaodie for a stroll around the capital.

Night fell over the Shen Family.

Qi Xinyue and Shen Wen were pacing anxiously, completely at a loss for what to do.

Just today, Second Uncle Shen Congwen sent word to the mother and son that a family meeting would be held tomorrow at the Shen Family to discuss the funeral arrangements for Shen Congwu.

The two were no fools; Shen Congwu was dead, and few people cared about that.

Second Uncle Shen Congwen’s goal was nothing more than to seize the position of head of the Shen Family.

As the son of the former head of the Shen Family, Shen Wen had the opportunity to challenge him for the position. Naturally, he had become a thorn in the side of Second Uncle Shen Congwen and other members of the Shen Family who coveted the position.

They had already received word through the grapevine that Second Uncle Shen Congwen would use every means necessary at tomorrow’s family meeting to dispose of Shen Wen.

In other words, not only would Shen Wen fail to become the head of the Shen Family, but he would also lose his current status and become a marginalized figure within the family.

The gap was too vast; Qi Xinyue could not accept it, and Shen Wen dared not even contemplate it.

Their only hope now remained Jiesha.

However, Jiesha had vanished into thin air. Over the past few days, they had called him hundreds, if not thousands, of times, but could not reach him.

Qi Xinyue was on the verge of despair.

Could it be that this The Monk, with whom she had had a brief fling, had only been after her body, and now that he had had his fill, he was refusing to take responsibility?

”Damn that thieving monk, that lecherous monk! He spun a web of sweet words, but he’s just a useless piece of trash. Where the hell did you disappear to?”

”You old geezer, you stinking monk! You’re all show and no substance. I can’t find you when it matters most—did you get hit by a car and die?”

Pacing back and forth, Qi Xinyue continued to curse, hurling insults at Jiesha.

”Mom, maybe The Monk had some urgent business. He shouldn’t abandon us, right?”

Shen Wen said this, though even he couldn’t be sure of his own words.

Even if he took a step back, Jiesha was his biological father; surely he wouldn’t abandon his wife and child?

”Why wouldn’t he? How long have you even known him? He’s just a spineless bastard, a piece of trash!”

Mentioning Jiesha again fueled Qi Xinyue’s rage. She abandoned all decorum and began to curse loudly.

”Amitabha!”

”It seems this humble monk has arrived at a bad time.”

A Buddhist chant echoed, and before they knew it, Jiesha had appeared behind them.

”You thieving monk! Where have you been hiding all this time? Why are you even here now?”

Jiesha’s arrival did not appease Qi Xinyue; instead, she acted even more resentful.

Even Shen Wen, standing beside her, was filled with anger.

For over twenty years, this thieving monk had never cared about him.

Now that father and son were reunited, he was facing a huge crisis, yet Jiesha had chosen to disappear, leaving the two of them to weather the storm alone.

This husband, this father, seemed entirely inadequate.

If this father was useless, what use did Shen Wen have for him?

Unfortunately, Jiesha had no idea that Shen Wen was already thinking of discarding his convenient father.

If he had known, he would have told Shen Wen: ”You unfilial son, if you don’t want your old man, I don’t think much of you as a useless son either.”

If it weren’t for the Young Master needing you to control the Shen Family, The Monk would never have accepted such a useless sycophant; I would have slapped you to death long ago.

”Amitabha. Since my presence here makes you both angry, this humble monk shall take his leave.”

Jiesha had no intention of indulging them, and turned to leave.

”Stop right there, you thieving monk! You caused this mess, and you’re not going anywhere until you fix it!”

”If you want my help, that attitude won’t do. Besides, I can’t just help you for no reason.”

”I knew it! You wouldn’t be that kind-hearted. You’re actually trying to take advantage of our misfortune and demand benefits!” Qi Xinyue said, even angrier.

Men were all the same. Qi Xinyue had finally seen through them; Jiesha’s appearance now was purely for his own benefit.

Even Shen Wen was stunned, staring at Jiesha in disbelief.

He was his own biological father, for heaven’s sake! He should be helping his own son.

He’d only heard of children screwing over their fathers, but now he was dealing with a father screwing over his son?

Jiesha looked perfectly serious. ”This humble monk is an enlightened monk. Do I look like the kind of person who would take advantage of someone’s misfortune?”

Shen Wen and his mother were speechless. A lecherous man and a cold-blooded demon like him had the nerve to call himself an enlightened monk?

Jiesha didn’t seem to care and continued, ”What I meant was, I need to find various justifications to help you.”

”Although that unfilial son, Shen Wen, has already recognized me as his foster father, it was done in private and lacks any official standing.”

Hearing this, Qi Xinyue realized she had misunderstood Jiesha.

She wanted to apologize, but the punchable expression on his face made her unable to bring herself to do it.
