I am the Ultimate Villain, So What If I Kill a Protagonist

12: Chapter 12 only requires Lin Tianyang to apologize.Mr. Liu picked up the red wine that the waiter had just brought over and poured a glass for Chu Yuan.

”Young Master Chu, I would like to propose a toast to you.”

”President Liu, please!”

Chu Yuan did not hesitate, picked up the wine glass, and drained it in one gulp.

As a noble and elegant type of alcohol, red wine should naturally be savored slowly, not downed in one gulp like beer or baijiu.

However, Chu Yuan did not bother with such pretenses and simply drained it in one go.

Of course, given his status, Mr. Liu and Liu Yanran did not dare to think that the person sitting before them was a country bumpkin who didn’t know how to appreciate fine wine.

After three glasses of wine, Mr. Liu finally brought up the main business.

”Young Master Chu, to be honest, I invited you here today because there is a matter that requires your help.”

Hearing this, Chu Yuan sneered inwardly, but remained nonchalant on the surface: ”I like to be direct, so please just say what you need to say, President Liu.”

”Er!”

Chu Yuan’s blunt words gave Mr. Liu a fright and added to his awkwardness.

”Ahem... Young Master Chu is very straightforward, so I won’t beat around the bush anymore.”

”To tell you the truth, the kid who had a conflict with Young Master Chu yesterday has some connection to my Liu family.”

At this point, Mr. Liu found it somewhat difficult to speak, but he had to bite the bullet: ”I hope Young Master Chu can let this slide and spare Lin Tianyang from imprisonment.”

A matter like injuring a bodyguard can be big or small.

If it were anyone else, Mr. Liu wouldn’t even need to step in; a simple word would suffice.

The problem is, Lin Tianyang had to go and provoke the one person he absolutely shouldn’t have.

Mr. Liu was cautious at this moment: ”This matter is indeed Lin Tianyang’s fault. If Young Master Chu requires any compensation, just say the word, and my Liu family will do our utmost.”

As expected, Mr. Liu came here for this very reason.

”I saw that kid dressed in rags, and he looked like he wanted to kill someone. I thought he was a lunatic. I don’t know how he ended up being connected to your Liu family. Could President Liu enlighten me?”

Chu Yuan feigned confusion, his expression seemingly asking: Could it be that your Liu family sent that kid to assassinate me?

Mr. Liu was so frightened that cold sweat poured down his back, and he blurted out without thinking: ”He... he is the descendant of an old friend of my father. The Liu family is willing to trade the Liu Research Institute in exchange for Young Master Chu’s forgiveness. Please, Young Master Chu, grant us this favor.”

”The Liu Research Institute?”

A sound of surprise broke the silence of the scene.

Liu Yanran looked at her father in shock: ”Dad, what are you saying? The Liu Research Institute is the hard work of several generations of our Liu family. Are you just going to give it away for this kid?”

Liu Yanran felt like her brain couldn’t keep up.

A wild kid from the mountains; her grandfather wants her to marry him, and her father is giving away the most important research institute of the Liu family for his sake.

Mr. Liu also smiled bitterly; this was certainly not his intention.

It was impossible to explain in a few words, and with Chu Yuan, an outsider, present, he had to fob her off with a few sentences and calm Liu Yanran down first.

Not to mention Liu Yanran being shocked, even Chu Yuan was slightly surprised when he heard this.

Chu Yuan knew a thing or two about the Liu Research Institute; it was the Liu family’s largest pharmaceutical research institution. If they lost it, the Liu family would suffer a massive hemorrhage.

For Lin Tianyang, the Liu family was really willing to pay a high price.

This only strengthened Chu Yuan’s resolve to drive a wedge between Lin Tianyang and the Liu family and make them break ties completely.

Chu Yuan pretended to ponder for a moment and sighed: ”Since President Liu has put it this way, I, Chu Yuan, am not the type of person to be unreasonable.”

”I can overlook the matter of Lin Tianyang injuring my bodyguard, and I can even release him, but...”

”Young Master Chu, whatever other requirements you have, please state them.”

”The Liu family’s research institute is the lifeblood of your family; I will not deprive you of what you love.”

”However, that kid dared to declare to my face that he would kill me. If you want me to release him, he must apologize to me in person and swear that he will walk the other way whenever he sees me from now on.”

”This requirement shouldn’t be too excessive, right?”

”Not excessive, not excessive at all. I must thank Young Master Chu for your mercy.”

”Lin Tianyang did something wrong, so he should pay the price. It is only right that he apologizes to Young Master Chu.”

Mr. Liu felt a sense of relief and quickly agreed.

He had originally thought he would lose the Liu Research Institute.

Now that only an apology from Lin Tianyang was needed, the Liu family was practically making a huge profit. How could Mr. Liu possibly refuse?

Mr. Liu’s imagination was rosy, but reality was cruel.

To say nothing else, based on Chu Yuan’s understanding of those Protagonists, getting them to apologize was harder than ascending to heaven.

They would rather suffer for their principles than compromise.

This is the true portrayal of a Protagonist.

Perhaps there really are Protagonists who choose to compromise when they lack strength.

But for a Protagonist like Lin Tianyang, who came down from the mountain with great skills and is arrogant, they would rather die than submit; there is no possibility of an apology.

Chu Yuan didn’t even want the big piece of fat that was the Liu Research Institute, instead choosing to make Lin Tianyang apologize.

What he wanted was for Lin Tianyang to choose not to apologize.

If Mr. Liu knew that what he thought was a very simple matter would turn out to be the most difficult one, what kind of scene would that be?

”Young Master Chu, I’ll toast you again, thank you for your leniency.”

Mr. Liu didn’t stand on ceremony and downed the glass of wine in one gulp.

You tell me, what kind of situation is this? For some wild kid who popped up out of nowhere, he had to humble himself to beg others, and even sacrifice his own daughter.

Mr. Liu thought to himself: I’m suffering inside.

”President Liu, you are too polite. However, I am still curious, who exactly is that Lin Tianyang?”

”For President Liu to be willing to hand over the Liu family’s most precious research institute for his sake.”

”Could it be that the kid is President Liu’s illegitimate son?”

Upon hearing this, Mr. Liu made a bitter face, unable to speak of his suffering.

Whoever wants such an unfilial son can have him.

As for saying that the kid Lin Tianyang was his daughter Liu Yanran’s fiancé, he couldn’t bring himself to say that either.

He even suspected at one point that this kid Lin Tianyang was his cheap younger brother, yet he was also involved with his daughter.

The relationship was completely chaotic.

Mr. Liu’s expression was the best explanation.

Chu Yuan had already initially gathered that Mr. Liu was not fond of Lin Tianyang.

In the entire Liu family, it was likely only Elder Liu who had been hit by the Protagonist’s ”brain-lowering” halo.

An old man with one foot in the grave who still likes to pop up—this made things much easier.

Seeing that Chu Yuan did not continue to pursue the matter and even agreed to release the person.

To avoid further complications, Mr. Liu quickly asked the driver to go and pick up Lin Tianyang, bringing this whole affair to a perfect conclusion.

Upon receiving a signal from Chu Yuan, Officer Lin Wanzhu did not say much.

Since Chu Yuan was unwilling to hold it against him, she couldn’t be bothered to harp on this matter either.
