Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 341: Chapter 340: Another Love Rival Appears

Congratulations to Nia Mitchell for successfully angering a certain CEO.

”Really? I wasn’t aware you knew such a prominent figure.” Maxwell Peary’s face was stern as he spoke coldly.

Nia Mitchell was taken aback. Why does his tone sound so... sour? Uh, could it be...?

”Uncle, are you jealous?” Nia Mitchell looked at Maxwell Peary, her eyes shimmering with anticipation as she awaited his response.

Maxwell Peary’s brows knitted together. He glanced at Nia Mitchell’s eager expression, a vein throbbing on his forehead, clearly displaying his displeasure.

”Am I the kind of person who gets jealous?” Maxwell Peary was immediately displeased, his reaction overly strong as he raised his voice.

Nia Mitchell shivered, startled by his outburst.

Alright, alright, I take back what I just said, she thought.

”Okay, okay, you’re not that kind of person,” Nia Mitchell said, nodding repeatedly in agreement.

”Nia Mitchell.”

Seeing her cheeky grin, Maxwell Peary grew even more annoyed. When I say I’m not jealous, I mean it! Who does she think I am? I’m Maxwell Peary, the man who makes Capital Town tremble, whose mere name strikes fear into people’s hearts! A stomp of my foot, and the entire Capital Town shakes! Would someone like me experience an emotion like jealousy, something only insecure people feel? What a joke!

”Present,” Nia Mitchell replied, standing obediently. She wiped the smile from her face and looked at Maxwell Peary with utmost seriousness.

”I am not jealous,” he declared solemnly, wanting to make sure Nia Mitchell understood clearly and to completely eradicate any ridiculous ideas from her mind.

”Mm, I know,” Nia Mitchell nodded, her expression extremely earnest.

Seeing her act like this, Maxwell Peary pressed a hand to his forehead, a headache brewing. Why hadn’t I realized before? Even when she’s being obedient, she still manages to be so... infuriating!

”Nia Mitchell, first, explain clearly: what is your relationship with Edbert Nia Mitchell?”

This isn’t about jealousy, Maxwell Peary told himself. I’m asking as a husband, trying to understand my little wife. Mm-hmm, that’s right, I’m just concerned about her. What if she meets some scoundrel and gets cheated? That would be bad, right?

”I used to work at Star Media, and he was my boss.”

Maxwell Peary frowned. Just a boss and employee? No, no, I don’t believe that. My current relationship with that rabbit, Rabina Mitchell, is also one of boss and employee, isn’t it? And I still sleep with her at night.

”Just that?” Maxwell Peary raised an eyebrow, looking straight into Nia Mitchell’s eyes, trying to discern if she was hiding anything.

Nia Mitchell looked utterly exasperated, the corner of her mouth twitching. ”Yeah.”

”If it’s such a simple relationship, how could you casually call him and ask him to fire one of his own employees for you?”

If I believed that, I’d be a fool, Maxwell Peary thought. If a former employee of MC called me and asked me to fire one of my current employees, would I agree? Hmph, more like I wouldn’t even bother answering the call.

”It’s just that when I was working there, I interacted with him a lot. Over time, we became friends. It’s quite normal for friends to help each other out, isn’t it?” Nia Mitchell explained carefully. The word ’friends’ can explain away so many unbelievable things. I’ve always firmly believed that.

Maxwell Peary was speechless. Friends? Another ’friend’? Charles Northwood’s return is already a dangerous enough development, and now there’s another ’friend’? That damned Alan Morgan! I had him investigate Nia Mitchell before. How could his report not include Edbert Nia Mitchell? This Edbert Nia Mitchell is truly worthy of being Star Media’s head. Just like the artists under his Company, he’s a master of hiding and sneaking around. It seems he deliberately concealed his relationship with Nia Mitchell.
