Chapter 303: Chapter 302 Uncle, I Don’t Want To

「Five minutes later.」

Maxwell Peary took out the thermometer and handed it to Doctor Zheng. He then tucked the corner of Nia Mitchell’s quilt.

”Her temperature is thirty-nine point two degrees. I suggest a fever-reducing injection first, followed by medication to help her sleep. It’s past four in the morning now. Take her temperature again after dawn. If the fever hasn’t subsided, she should go to the hospital,” Doctor Zheng stated his diagnosis.

Just as Maxwell Peary was about to nod, the young woman on the bed spoke up first, refusing, ”I don’t want an injection.”

Nia Mitchell shook her head vehemently. IV drips and oral medication didn’t scare her, but she was terrified of injections.

Maxwell Peary paid Nia no mind, his attention still on Doctor Zheng.

”Then start with an injection.”

Nia felt as if she had instantly returned to her childhood, where her refusals were useless and her parents had the final say.

It was so unfair! She was already twenty years old!

”I won’t agree to an injection,” Nia protested. However, awed by the CEO’s authority, she lay obediently still on the bed, not daring to move.

Hearing Nia’s protest, Maxwell Peary’s face darkened, and he looked coldly at Doctor Zheng. ”Leave the medication here, then you can leave.”

Doctor Zheng nodded repeatedly. He knew perfectly well that he wasn’t supposed to see Mrs. Peary’s bottom.

Besides, Maxwell Peary also knew how to give injections, so there was nothing for him to worry about. After leaving the medication and giving a few hasty instructions, Doctor Zheng practically fled from Royal Bay Villa.

Once out of the grand villa, Doctor Zheng finally breathed a sigh of relief, his exhaustion palpable. This had been more tiring than performing surgery on Maxwell Peary in the past.

Young Master Peary is married!?

Still in his car, Doctor Zheng struggled to process this news. I hadn’t even dared to get a good look at what Mrs. Peary looked like earlier.

But it seemed Mrs. Peary was quite young.

At this thought, Doctor Zheng couldn’t help but shiver, Maxwell’s darkened face appearing in his mind again.

Thank goodness, I’m out now.

In the master bedroom of Royal Bay Villa, Nia Mitchell pouted, watching the CEO as he worked nearby.

He expertly mixed the medication; an unopened syringe lay on the table.

”Uncle...” her small voice reached him.

Maxwell Peary looked up at her. ”What’s the matter?”

His voice was much softer than when Doctor Zheng had been there, like that of an ordinary person, devoid of his usual imposing aura.

”Could I just take the medication instead of the injection?” her voice was somewhat hoarse. As she spoke with a hint of a plea, she looked exceptionally pitiable.

Maxwell Peary admitted that for a moment, he wanted to agree. But she was ill now; if her treatment was delayed, her condition would only worsen.

”No,” he refused her decisively and continued with what he was doing.

Nia’s smile instantly vanished. Pouting, she burrowed into the quilt, hiding her entire small head inside.

”Nia Mitchell, do you want to suffocate?”

When Maxwell Peary heard no further sound from Nia Mitchell, he turned to look and was met with this sight.

”I don’t want an injection...” From under the quilt came Nia’s muffled voice, tinged with a sob.

Maxwell Peary paused, then immediately put down the medication. He walked to the bedside and reached out to pull back the quilt.

However, Nia clutched it tightly from the inside, refusing to let go.

”Nia Mitchell!” Maxwell Peary was getting angry. Why does she have to be so difficult, even when she’s ill?

”I don’t want an injection! Otherwise, I won’t come out.” Nia Mitchell’s voice, choked with sobs, reached his ears again.

Maxwell Peary heard it clearly this time. Is she really crying?
