Flash Marriage: Pampered by Mr.Bigshot

Chapter 13: Chapter 13 Uncle Peary, I’m back at the Police Department

「MC Group」

In the sleekly luxurious CEO Office, Maxwell Peary sat languidly behind a spacious black office desk.

That Rabina Mitchell isn’t timid at all. She hung up on me so easily and even turned off her phone.

He carelessly removed his suit jacket and threw it onto a nearby sofa, exasperatedly unbuttoning the top button of his white shirt, his eyebrows furrowed.

”Hello? Boss? Look at me, look at me...”

Far away in Canada, Special Assistant Alan Morgan swallowed nervously. Does the CEO even remember he’s in the middle of a remote meeting? The boss, who was usually so meticulous and serious when working, was actually distracted and making calls today. And now he’s taking off his jacket and unbuttoning his shirt? What’s he trying to do?

Hearing Alan Morgan’s voice, Maxwell Peary paused. He turned to look at the gossip-ridden face on the computer screen in front of him, feeling even more irritated.

”If they’re thinking about swallowing this shipment, let’s see if they have the stomach for it. We’re all in the same business, after all. Tell them I’m not giving an inch this time.”

Alan Morgan nodded. This was surely Young Master Peary’s style, but wouldn’t this completely offend Mr. Rafael?

”And, if this matter isn’t settled and you don’t appear before me within ten days, don’t bother coming back. Go directly to Sicily.”

Alan Morgan was shocked. Damn it, Boss, you don’t have to be so ruthless!

”Ten days is too short, give me some slack! Isn’t Andrew Davidson in Sicily? The Mafia over there is too... Hey, hey, hey! Don’t hang up—”

Seeing Maxwell Peary snap the video call shut, Alan Morgan tore at his hair in frustration. The boss has been acting strangely ever since that call didn’t go through. Can anyone tell me what on earth happened in Capital Town?Could the boss be lovesick?Impossible. Who could have such power over him?

Maxwell Peary leaned back in his chair. Irritably, he opened a drawer, took out a cigarette, and lit it. He took a deep drag, smoke curling and lingering around him. Where could his Rabina Mitchell be lingering at this hour? She actually ignored his words, hung up, and turned off her phone.Hmph! Very good...

Just then, his phone rang suddenly.

Maxwell Peary’s lips curled into a smile, his eyes sparkling like waves. Is Rabina Mitchell calling back?

”Hmm? Not keeping the phone off anymore?”

In the Police Department, Nia Mitchell swallowed hard. Although she couldn’t see Maxwell Peary’s expression, she could sense his anger. Damn it! Who in this world could withstand Young Master Peary’s wrath?

”Uncle Peary... I’m at the Police Department again.”

Nia Mitchell sat upright on a sofa, looking at the police chief in front of her. He had seemed on edge ever since he arrived, and she felt a bit intimidated.

”Wait for me there!”

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP...

He hung up?! Nia Mitchell frowned in vexation.

Chief Zhang frowned at Nia Mitchell. ”Are you sure you called Young Master Peary? What did Young Master Peary say?”

Nia Mitchell snorted. ”Obviously! He said he’ll come right over. You’d better think hard about how you’re going to explain this to him when he gets here.”

Truthfully, she felt a little apprehensive herself, uncertain of Maxwell Peary’s attitude when he arrived. But they had their marriage certificate, after all. He had to help her, right?

Chief Zhang frowned. What if Young Master Peary really comes? Will he demolish the Police Department?

Nia Mitchell rubbed her neck; it still felt extremely uncomfortable. Her throat was itchy, and she had an irresistible urge to cough.

”He almost strangled me, and then he falsely accused me of assault, Chief Zhang. What’s your take on this?”
