Ling Tian Sword God

Chapter 129: Chapter 128: The War of Fire Country _1

Upon returning to Wuchen Courtyard, Ling Chen felt conflicted. If what the Great Elder said was true, how would he face Liu Xiling in the future? Should he kill her for revenge? Wouldn’t that make him a true orphan? But if Liu Xiling really did such a thing, could he forgive her?

He now found himself caught between a rock and a hard place.

Ling Chen could only continue to console himself by choosing to believe in Liu Xiling’s character. Whether it was true or not, he would have to wait until he saw her in person to know for sure.

「Another month passed by.」

Ling Chen completely refined the Medicinal Power of the Heavenly Heart Grass. The Condensed Pills, which he received from the Sect every month, were also of great help in stabilizing his Cultivation.

The effect of the Condensed Pills was not as potent as the Solid Reality Pill, but they could refine True Qi; however, their rank was only second-grade inferior.

True Disciples could receive five Condensed Pills each month for their Cultivation.

Those who ranked within the top ten would receive ten pills. The top True Disciple, in addition to the Condensed Pills, could receive an extra Solid Reality Pill.

Over the course of the month, Ling Chen worked diligently to consolidate his foundations.

His secondary focus was cultivating the Landscape Swordsmanship and comprehending Sword Intent.

The Lingtian True Qi fully saturated his Dantian. If he didn’t break through to the next Realm, the quantity of True Qi could no longer increase.

The quality of his True Qi, with each refinement by Ling Chen, became increasingly pure.

Lingtian True Qi was inherently much stronger than True Qi cultivated from ordinary techniques. Now, it had become even more formidable.

Standing up, Ling Chen walked to a large tree. He flicked his finger, and a strand of sword qi shot out, penetrating the tree trunk and leaving behind a smooth, finger-sized hole.

The sword qi passed through without any hindrance, as if piercing a wall of tofu.

CRACK!

Withdrawing the Heavenly Mansion Sword, Ling Chen swung it, severing the tree trunk.

After the enhancement in the quality of his True Qi, the sword qi had become even sharper and tougher.

While Ling Chen was cultivating intensely in Wuchen Courtyard, the situation in the outside Martial World was also changing rapidly, a storm brewing.

Only two months had passed since Earth Country last invaded Fire Country when the Demonic Sect mobilized once again. They launched a large-scale attack on Fire Country, clearly aiming to conquer it and expand their influence.

Faced with this major event, the Righteous Martial World naturally did not stand idly by. All major Sects sent Experts to join the war, while the remaining three countries also dispatched reinforcements to Fire Country to curb the expansion of the Demonic Sect and Earth Country.

The wars between secular nations were in full swing, and the Martial World was once again plunged into bloody conflict.

When Ling Chen learned of this news, he was quite shocked. It seems the great war between the Righteous and Demonic Factions might erupt ahead of schedule, he thought.

At this time, Xiao Muyu came to Wuchen Courtyard to find Ling Chen. He had already guessed that what she was about to say was likely related to the events in Fire Country, and as expected, he was right.

Xiao Muyu took a sip of water and sat down in front of Ling Chen. ”The Sect is planning to use this war in Fire Country as a training ground for us disciples,” she said. ”The Elderly meeting has already announced that anyone willing to go to the Fire Country battlefield can earn a certain amount of sect contributions.”

”As for how they’re calculated, there seems to be a strict set of rules, but it should be based on battle achievements. The greater the achievements, the more contributions earned. My master suggests that both of us should go to the battlefield to gain some experience, rather than just staying cooped up in the Sect.”

”The Fire Country battlefield,” Ling Chen murmured, a thoughtful expression on his face. News about this has been rampant lately. Although it’s a war between nations, it’s actually a confrontation between the Righteous and Demonic Factions.

”Moreover,” Xiao Muyu continued, ”I’ve heard that many peak Experts from both the Righteous and Demon Paths have appeared on the battlefield. Among them are the Elder of Myriad Beasts from the Myriad Beasts Sect, and the Saintess from the Saint Witch Religion...”

When mentioning the latter, Xiao Muyu paused slightly, stealing a glance at Ling Chen. His complexion had clearly changed.

”When do we set off?” Ling Chen asked, his expression returning to normal.

”Tomorrow morning. We’ll head to Chiyu Mountain Manor to rendezvous first. Currently, all the Experts sent by various Sects have gathered there. Quite a few Disciples have already set off for Fire Country, so we’re relatively late,” Xiao Muyu explained.

Chiyu Mountain Manor was the only remaining major Sect of the Righteous Path in Fire Country and currently served as the stronghold for Martial Experts from the other three countries.

In the current situation in Fire Country, only Chiyu Mountain Manor was barely holding on; other Sects had either been annihilated or had surrendered to the Demonic Sect.

Ling Chen nodded. After seeing Xiao Muyu off, he gazed at the distant Sky. Perhaps this time, I might get a chance to meet my mother, he thought. To achieve this, I must give it my all, no matter what.

「The next morning.」

The two rode their Jade Lions toward Chiyu Mountain Manor.

Atop her Jade Lion, Xiao Muyu looked at Ling Chen and said, ”Ling Chen, it’s said that Chiyu Mountain Manor is currently putting up a strong resistance against the Demonic Sect. The Martial Arts Experts coming to help will be granted military ranks and integrated into the Fire Country’s army to join the war.”

”Fighting alongside the army... that sounds incredibly dangerous,” Ling Chen remarked.

The battlefield is nothing like the Martial World, he mused. Although the Martial World is also a place of bloodshed, the battlefield is a veritable meat grinder where human lives are as insignificant as weeds. A warrior, no matter how skilled, couldn’t possibly defeat a hundred agile Soldiers. Armies number in the thousands, even tens of thousands, as a matter of course. Moreover, there are Martial Arts Experts within the army ranks. For instance, Fire Country’s National Protector Grand General is a Great Master Level Powerhouse. As the saying goes, ’Two fists are no match for four hands.’ Faced with the siege of a large army, an individual’s prowess, no matter how great, is insufficient.

”We’ll most likely be assigned tasks like reconnaissance or gathering military intelligence. They won’t actually have us command large armies or fight on the front lines,” Xiao Muyu said, shaking her head with a smile.

”If it really came to commanding an army and fighting on the front lines, it wouldn’t be entirely out of the question,” Ling Chen replied, a faint smile playing on his lips. Leading troops on the battlefield, being a general – that was a childhood dream of mine. However, commanding armies is the job of generals; we warriors aren’t typically proficient in such matters.

”GIDDYUP!”

With a sharp tug on the reins, the two urged their mounts to speed up.

...

Fire Country, one of the Five Kingdoms, was situated northeast of Wind Country. After several days of continuous travel, Ling Chen and Xiao Muyu crossed the borders of two nations and finally arrived in the territory belonging to Chiyu Mountain Manor.

Upon entering the Fire Country region, the weather became noticeably hotter. However, Ling Chen and Xiao Muyu were prepared; they changed into light, loose-fitting attire and soon reached the main entrance of Chiyu Mountain Manor.

Chiyu Mountain Manor was located on Red Feather Mountain in the southwestern part of Fire Country. The manor’s perimeter was heavily fortified with multiple layers of checkpoints, watchtowers, arrow towers, and defensive structures—clearly to guard against surprise attacks from the Demonic Sect and infiltration by spies from the Demon Way.

”Who goes there?”

Just as Ling Chen and Xiao Muyu arrived beneath the watchtower, numerous Bows and Arrows were immediately aimed at them.

”We are True Disciples from the Divine Intent Sect, sent by our Sect to assist your esteemed Manor,” Xiao Muyu announced, taking out her Waist Tag and tossing it up onto the wall.

A Disciple from Chiyu Mountain Manor caught it. After a glance, he immediately waved to the others. ”They are indeed True Disciples from the Divine Intent Sect! Lower your Bows and Arrows! Let them pass!”

The gates of the checkpoint opened. Ling Chen and Xiao Muyu handed their Jade Lions over to some Chiyu Mountain Manor personnel and proceeded on foot.
